Dear Sir, What i love in England, Europe and elsewhere, and hate in Brazil, is the public and government care for historic heritage. In me coutry, unfortunately, the past, recent and remote, is forlorn and destroyed. Sad cheers from Brazil.
Well, a soggy but pleasant day out Alan. It was neat seeing the old A-B telephone box. So much there for the running of the trains. Nice to see, not all a housing estate. Keep Well, sir. Cheers Alan!
Hi Alan, I took a visit there a few years back (before the hole lock down thing started). A couple of the lads there gave me a quick show around the station and the engine shed too. Lovely little station and very friendly staff, can’t wait to go back.
Hi Alan, Ludborough station looks very interesting with some great wagons and the Bagnal Diesel shunter was in good condition. The parcel van was looking a bit run down hopefully they will restore it. The walk was well worth the effort to see the next station and take a tea break . Cheers, Paul.
Hi again Alan another very enjoyable video, nice to see the old wagons I noticed some with the blue spot on I know you can buy models of them by Triang or Hornby for fish or meats? Cup or Tea, yes cannot beat it. Enjoy your evening, regards Barry in Spain
Hi Alan you're not too far away from on The Lincs coast. The Line you are on used to run from Grimsby through Louth, Boston, Spalding on to Peterborough where it joined the ECML en route it had branch lines from Willoughby to Mablethorpe & Sutton On Sea and at Firsby for Skegness. The Skegness line is still there and has through services to Nottingham some via Grantham for the ECML. Back in the day it was a busy line and we used to go to watch The evening Fish trains to London they would either have a Brit or a 9F at the head. There were 2 through trains from Cleethorpes / Grimsby to Kings X each morning and 2 back in the evening, if the Doctor (Beeching) hadn't closed the line it would have been invaluable today to take freight from Immingham off the ECML. You're making me very nostalgic Alan
Thanks Paul for the information. That has answered a lot of my queries. What a busy line this was, 9F's and fish trains on this line is unbelievable, Beeching should of mothballed this foe the future. Thanks again for your valuable insight. Regards Alan :o)
Just watched this again. What a great place to visit. So peaceful. Look forward to seeing more. Roy.
That is nice to know Roy. NRM in York today so stay tuned. Regards Alan :o)
