I’m not familiar with fabric screen printing, my professional specialty is printing on paper. The CMYK process is almost identical though, so some tips : - take into account the color of the fabric you plan to print on. White shirts are a no brainer, but lightly colored fabrics will change the outcome. So if you plan to print on a light grey for example, don’t forget to reduce the black tones from a corresponding percentage; - CMYK is great for photographic elements, but if your design is some vector art with few solid colors, you should use direct tones instead; - I don’t know the specifics of wet on wet inks, but the superposition of too much ink on the same spot can cause drying problems. In paper print, the rule is that when you add all the CMYK values, the result shouldn’t exceed 300%. There are some separation settings that allows you to translate neutral greys in the image obtained by the mix of CMY into a single K value. That allows you to use less of CMY inks which are often more expensive than the K ones; - One of the biggest advantage of CMYK is that you can print different visuals one after another without having to clean your tools; - Advanced technique : Color separation can be done with other colors than CMYK, and use spot colors instead with a few adjustments. For example, you can use red instead of magenta if you adjust the other colors accordingly. This is useful if your art also includes a vector art logo which you’d like to be printed with the exact spot colors. In the model shown of the Argentina national football team, Cyan and Yellow could be substituted with the blue and yellow spot colors of Argentina’s flag team logo. It’s also possible in some cases, depending on the nature of your picture, to eliminate altogether a whole color pass with this technique. You can also have fun with special inks for creative effects; - I don’t know if that works with screen printing, but you can also use color separation to reinforce Black values. In the comic books industry for example, all the black ink drawing lines are often also printed in cyan. The superposition of cyan and black gives a stronger Black result. It’s recommended though to make the Cyan lines a bit thinner than the black ones to limit the possibilities of imperfect alignment during the application.
As a profession, I am a flexographic printer. Bread bags, diaper bags etc. cmyk is how we print all our process images. Been looking at starting at shirt printing business. This method is very familiar to me yet foreign lol. Different type of press than I’m use to. I appreciate you videos.
Nice tutorial my friend .. thank you. I have learned so much in the last few years. Patience is key. I messed up so many times but I enjoyed figuring out how. CMYK is absolutely my favorite method.. and yes .. the higher the quality of the design or image, the better the results .. actually .. I will not use a bad quality image because it just wont work and not even worth the time and effort.
Awesome. I've done CMYK, but a long time ago before inkjet. That was a pain and involved a lot of film processing and actual screens that produced the halftone. lol
It definitely helped! Thanks very much; I'm just taking my first steps into screen printing and learning what you've just taught me will come in very handy!
Hi Mylo... in other videos of wet on wet screen printing (shirts and transfers) you kind of indicated the possibility of different types of ink. Can you clarify and also what type of ink is used with CYMK. Thanks in advance!
Thank you so much for your video. I plan to present this to my preschoolers in class today. Take care! Gracias! (Say your name so that my students can know que eres latino o hispano - de Mexico o no estoy segura de donde - con mucho orgullo te presento a ellos y las familias)
Looks great!!! I've been screen printing for 17 years and never have done CMYK... I just got an automatic press and want to give it a try.... What "RIP" software do you use to do your screen separations??? Thanks.
awesome video. Im glad you mentioned not printing it CMYK but instead going lightest to darkest. Thats often how I set the jobs up but sometimes might switch it up if my separations weren't as good as they should have been. When printing wet on wet do you need to clean the bottom of the screens often or do you not get a lot of ink build up on the screens? I have noticed that I only get through a few tshirts before I feel the other inks are affecting the quality of the print
hi, thanks for the very helpful video! I was wondering, I understand that it had to be wet on wet, but is it possible if I screen print each of the colors on different times? I can only do one screen at a time, so printing all four colors at the same time will be a hassle
I don’t have a video but, there’s no gradients it’s all halftones… I convert the full image to halftones, then when I go print it out the films. I just separated every half tone into 4 different colors that is CYMK….
Quick question. When you print registration marks on the stencil and stuff does that not mean you will end up printing the registration marks on the shirt as well? Obviously I know you don't but where In the process and how do you end up removing/avoiding printing the registration marks on the shirts
On a 4 color press. Do you think I can maybe do the base white, c, m , y, and then switch the last screen to the k. I think I would have to re-register the last screen for each shirt … dang it!!
Hi i am Job, from Haiti, thanks for sharing your knowledge to us, by the way i have a question: what is cyan exactly? Is it the same blue that we use in simple printing or another blue that we use specially for halftone? Please answer me.
Hey Mylo - You have no idea man, this is great work. You breaking it down, as I’m learning to get my stuff to start my screen printing business. We’ll be in touch brother! 🫡
Bro, what screen mesh did you used? By the way, thank you for these tutorials, it actually widened my knowledge in screen printing. I’m just a beginner. So thanks a lot bro and God bless you more
Dude, it was absolutely crazy watching just the 4 colors creating a full color print. Thank you for the tutorial!
Hope this video helps in any way God Bless ❤️
I did and it worked so great I started from yellow to black just like you indicated.. thank you so much!
Then you, God bless you too. ❤
What kind of ink would it be if I did the same thing on paper (please help me 🙏) thanks?
It did, I need to try this myself now😅
¡Dios es contigo! Gracias compa. 🤙
My boy always looks blasted, I dig it

The thank you for taking so much time to teach us thoroughly mylo!!!
Good work bro and thanks to you
Thank you for all the detailed explanation
dtf is good for production but Silk Screen is ART. The best
Great video bro...quick question...do the back of the screens get ink on them from the wet ink on the shirt?
What would you recommend for much smaller size print when it comes to CMYK? Is the process the same for like a business card as it is for a tshirt?
I really appreciated this tutorial. Tons of great tips here. Did you ever make the video about printing CMYK on darker colors?
When you do that cmyk with a white base it would be nice to show how you did on the computer in coral draw
Yes I will most definitely do it …
Hi, I am from India, I am learning from your video, good luck bro
Do you think xtool's laser engraving screen print kit would make this process a lot easier? (alignment)
this is super cool, i'm really glad i found this video
Sr. Mylo, l would like to know how to degrade in half tone or what program is good, also what is the exposition time to had tone
Great explanation, good job
Thank you ❤️😁🤘

inspirational, beautiful video
Thanks, this is really insightful.
Mylo u ever used instead 305 mesh which is 915 dpi 1250 to 2500 mesh
How are you brother I’d love to see the whole process on how you separated the artwork for colors I’m just starting and would love a video

Thanks for this great lesson Sir.
Please can I try printing separation with plastisol inks?
could you do a tutorial on how to burn the different layers / different colors
The best video I ever seen thank you !
This video was great!!
Nicely explained. Thanks!
do you have a video on how to break down the color elements and gradients? feels like there a missing piece to wrap my brain around this 😂
I don’t have a video but, there’s no gradients it’s all halftones… I convert the full image to halftones, then when I go print it out the films. I just separated every half tone into 4 different colors that is CYMK….

Thank you 😁❤️🤘
Appreciate ya Mylo!! 🫡
Great video and explained very well. Subscribed!
Awesome 😁❤️🤘
If you do a print on a dark garment, can you replace the black with a white underbase? Allowing the black shirt to make the outlines?
No the black gets printed over the base … because it mixes and matches with the other colors ..
@myloprints so unless you have more than 4 print heads you can't cmyk on dark garmets?
Yes, for black garments you need 5 screens. @@Rain-di2bq

That’s a good question, cyan is just a regular ink color , but the ink that I use in the video is a proses ink …
Alright, thanks.
how to produce white base for dark base using coeldraw beside from CMYK?
Amazing video man! Thanks for this class 🔥
Pirlo is my favorite soccer player.
Can this be done with water based inks ?
Thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you too
I keep saying to myself how is that working 🤔 its like magic to me. Never done this before.
Good information Bro. Keep it up
Hey Mylo - You have no idea man, this is great work. You breaking it down, as I’m learning to get my stuff to start my screen printing business. We’ll be in touch brother! 🫡

Well made video g👌
Serigrafi is love, serigrafi is life ❤
Finally a good video on CMYK….
Few questions… is that setup expensive?
And does cmyk print gray colors on black well?
You will need white under base for it, trust me I tried it and it doesn’t look too good
Very helpful TFS!
Whens separating colors, how do you know which colors goes with which layer?
Hey what’s another app besides CorelDraw?
And what inks and emulsion you use
What ink did you use?
Precious Shoal
Of cours we're diying to see full process
How to do it on a darker garment ?
Nice print my man!
Sir Can water based ink work with cmyk or only plastisol (sorry for bad english)
Ronaldinho! Too late but still, best player ever. Billy in London, England
Thank you sir
Can you make a video step by step in detail from creating a design to printing 😅
Most definitely
Why do you print wet on wet instead of curing each color in between?
Good video can't you do cmyk with the same angle
Why u don't try it like black cyan magenta then yellow juss like offset printing
I honestly haven’t try it … but I’m a good 80% sure it won’t work
Excellent ✌️🥋🙏Oss!
I thought sim process and cmyk process was the same what's difference?
Great
Huge CR7 fan 🔥
