Listen to that voice on a snowball rolling Yet a voice that change with every song he sang is no other singer like David and will never be another David Ruffin R.I.P.
@@DG-xk3of Yes he would have but I know what he was the best dancer seemed like he was on roller skates never seen Move like him and A beautiful voice also I don't know if you agree with me or not but thanks for answering to my Call Remember this is about Paul
I have loved this recording since it was released in 1965. It was the sequel to "My Girl." There were seven recording sessions between December 16, 1964, and March 6, 1965., which shows how much work went into it - far more than most other Motown recordings. Smokey Robinson used the magnificent Gospel choir of Jackie Hicks, Marlene Barrow, Louvain Demps, (of The Andantes), Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, Paul Williams, Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffin to create a masterpiece. Temptations experts know every single beat and note of their favorite songs. At 2:04 on the second bridge of your "Extended Version," David interjects, "Yeah-Yeah." As much as I have played this song on vinyl, tape, and CD, for the past 55 years, that simple, beautiful, perfect phrase does not exist on the original recording. (David's similar previous phrase is slower, "Oooooh-ooh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)." I tip my hat to you for finding and integrating this extremely subtle, yet extremely unique piece of music with the original.Somehow, somewhere, you apparently obtained something that the rest of us do not have: an alternate version of "It's Growing." Thanks for sharing.
IF THE TEMPTATIONS GARGLE THEIR THROATS , THAT SOUNDS GOOD TOO ! THEY WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE MALE VOCAL GROUP FOR EVER . MY LOVE FOR THEM WELL IT'S GROWING : )
Terri I'm glad you love the Temptations. But, David Ruffin was mine. I married him when I was 6 years old. He was singing background on The Way You Do The Things You Do via radio. I heard the voice and I thought WOW. That man singing in the background should be leading. He has a beautiful voice. Now I heard some people say they can't depict him from the rest when he was doing background but I always could. He never held back on Eddie Kendricks and vice versa. I just wanted you to know you can have the rest but leave "MY" David Ruffin alone. 😆 😆 😆😆 Take Care. CORA HUDSON GUICE

I heard the regular version when I was a child. This extended version supersedes the regular version. It is delightful to hear long and lively. The Temptations outsung themselves to full glory. I believe that I will play this extended version, instead of the regular and short one.
This is one of my all time five favorite. songs I am going to request it to be played at my memorial service. No, I am not planning to leave this existence soon The song makes me feel good from the first note!
creoleladee I also asked my children to play this as folks are leaving the church at my services. I play this song almost every day. I’m glad to hear this version. The opening is so great. Thanks again. Barrie
The Andantes (mowtown's female studio backup singers) were very present on most of the Four Tops' hits and you certainly can hear them as part of the mix on the "hey hey hey's" and the "It's growin's". I never really noticed it before - thanks for pointing it out.
David you are an awesome fellow who God Blessed with an Voice From Heaven You can sang the alfabet and make it sound good. Beautiful Voice. Gone but never forgotten. One of the Best Voices Ever.
With all these fantastic extended versions of yours it dawned on me that the particular Motown sound that I loved so much back in those days actually had three unfailing elements: The Andantes, The Funk brothers and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra strings! No matter what the group or singer! Very well done! Thanks for making these highly entertaining versions.
@@jduwayne1 The Tempts spoke to Berry Gordy about that, specifically Melvin who told him that they couldn't replicate their sound on stage. This was after It's Growing. They were on mainly The Supremes and Four Tops. As for the hits they were on It's Growing, Get Ready, All I Need. If the Andantes are on the record you can hear them. David Ruffin on several occasions locked the Andantes out of recording sessions because he felt that they didn't need them. That strong falsetto sound you hear in the background is none other than Eddie Kendricks, he put his stamp on their harmonies
Mosogotam...whoever, whatever you are(advanced being from another planet).....thank you so much for this ...I have seen several of your videos and you freakin AWESOME....
You see back in those days oh sure there were groups who could sing but, what separated The Temptations from other groups was there showmanship there choreograph. Today's groups are doing nothing but mimican The Temptations.
This might be more of a tribute to Smokey Robinson than the Temptations, but... when I was in college back in 1966/67, my literature professor asked us to write an original poem for class. I was pretty sure that she didn't keep up with R&B, so I turned in the lyrics to this song. Got an A-.
