I’d be curious on his takes with the series post X or even just post early X as he seems good with keeping character with Japanese material even if those characterizations are controversial (Iceman’s crush on Roll)
Very funny how well this was timed with the announcement of the new Udon series. I loved Archie Mega Man a lot so I’m hoping those ones will be just as good.
15:35 In the Main series games for anyone who doesn’t know, Light Labs is in America. So since Archie is supposed to be like the games, best to assume that is the case.
I found archie Megaman pretty late, which is surprising since I'm a huge Megaman fan. The series felt like a true love letter to fans by people who genuinely cared about the franchise.
I'm here to say I'm so thankful for your previous megaman and sonic videos! I usually miss the latest issue and comics and had no way to read them so I usually visit your channel after school to play catch up I'm now 22 and still occasionally watch your videos if I don't have the comics available and still immensely enjoy them so again thank you!
I've never been much of a gamer, but a dear friend of mine got me into these comics and I found them much more engaging than I initially expected going in. I agree that parts of Rock's emotional journey in this first arc felt a little rushed; imo later arcs would deliver angsty moments like that with more skill and even more impact. Looking forward to hearing what you'll have to say about the rest of the series going forward!
I really like visual aesthetic in 1st comic. It's very close to original art as it can be and great to look at. It's great as starting point and takes into account various details about willy and Light past and their whole philosophy. Of course if we comics just show as how Megaman go through levels it will be boring (it's not a game that we a taking action after all), so seeing Robot Master interaction and some meta plot between levels is interesting spin for main series. I forgot about this creepy image of Willy in 11:07. It's excellent. 17:30 I think they are reference to Forgotten World characters from Capcom.
Appropriate that the video was released around this time given the recent announcement of a new Mega Man comic series. It's really cool to see you revisiting this series with your current style, and I'm interested to see your approach going forward.
i still remember when i was in my megaman phase i was pretty much inhaling these comics, i couldnt get enough of them, they always made me hyped to play the actual megaman games later it still breaks my heart whenever i remember that they were cancelled, just imagine what ian could have done with the x,z,zx and legends saga, it could have been great...
you think THAT’S weird? there’s several OFFICIAL CANONICAL ARTWORKS (and marvel vs capcom i think?) that imply robo-inc3st… albiet one sided… also the ruby spears cartoon for a moment in the pilot
The Archie Comics are great! I have more good to say about them than bad. Something I find weird about the first few issues that I haven't seen anyone bring up is what Plum being around means. I always thought that the first 6 Robot Masters were meant to be the first ones to work in public. The public probably already knew about Rock and Roll, but the 6 were going to be the first to actually have jobs outside of Light Labs. Plum being around kind of messes with that. Somehow, a news agency managed to have the same highly sophisticated technology as the pioneer of this new Robot Master system. Something just seems odd about that.
I wonder if you heard about UDON Entertainment getting the comic book rights to Mega Man recently. Wonder if they either continue the Archie storyline or reboot it like IDW did for Sonic.
I heard it's a reboot, which is too bad because it could mean that Dr. LaLinde, Tempo aka Quake Woman and Vesper Woman might not come back. Despite that, Ian Flynn asked Udon if he could write for them and I hope he gets his wish.
@@KCruzer I’m pretty sure Udon would rather start fresh with a new writer. Plus it sounds like he wanted to do another crossover with Sonic and Mega Man
@@Ihartwalrusguy Only time will tell, besides IDW did hire him when they obtained Sonic so you never know. I don't think a crossover with Sonic would be possible anyway, if anything Rock might crossover with Street Fighter.
I know there's a few dubs of this that already exist... but we're currently working on a new one with our team! issue one currently being edited and will be posted on our sister channel, Timeless Dubs. This was helpful on some research in things to include about those easter eggs in later issues probably wouldn't have thought of other wise.
I’m really excited for the Udon Mega Man Comics and I hope they have the same Heart/Great Writing of The Archie Mega Man Comics
Same! Heck Ian Flynn actually tweeted that he wants to write it again for Udon and if Archie's series is anything to go by, I hope he gets his wish.
@@KCruzer that depends if Udon responds to him.

@@KCruzer Let's hope he doesn't have an exclusive contract with IDW.
@@KCruzer Sadly, poor Flynn got too much hate as of late. He has been forced to block toxic people on sucky Twitter
@@JokerTheHedgehogX I know, some people just can't let hate go. Although, I find it hilarious that some of those haters want Ken Penders to write it.

Yay! These comics are what got me interested in Mega Man, and I watched your old videos to get caught up. Very excited for this retrospective!
Yes. It's here. It was this series that properly introduced me to Mega Man. Excited for the retrospective.
You were one of the reasons I got into Mega Man. I loved going through these comics. I hope the Udon Comics are good.

awesome video!! so excited to revisit the comic through this series!!
