I get it, I say Antoine funny lol. My first language is French and that's how we say the name. It's the way I always read it and I've known people who are called that. Blame the French brain lol

@@larvesquareandfriends6940 French, the language I am always confused by due to being too different from Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian. xD The only reason I can read some crap is due to core vocabulary words being similar to Italian, but eventually once I get a grasp on Spanish and Portuguese, I will get to French. I am aware of the silent letters. xD
The H aspiraré and generally pay attention to the gender of nouns heavily. xD
*Fun (and to me, kind of wholesome) Fact:* There are these rare cases where Antoine will say something to Bunnie completely in French, and she will respond in English without any hesitation, implying she took the time to learn French for Antoine.
I actually adore that and it reminds me of my parents lol

Bunnie is, without question, my favorite of the archie characters. Her marriage to antoine was adorable, and she was probably the best melee fighter that didn't really have a special ability. Most of her skills were purely combat and brute force based, whereas Sonic was essentially a living bullet.

She's fun and cool with the right writers. She was always one of my faves in the comics and the cartoon.

5:02 That roboticizer is the same one that was used to turn Bunny into a cyborg. It was never destroyed so that’s why they have one.
Also, I think the ear bud that prevented knuckles from losing himself after being robotizied was from a previous story.
@@Mysticgamer I’m pretty sure that was from this story, in the beginning they were gonna use it on Sonic so he could be roboticized and pretend to be subservient to Robotnik but then he got kidnapped without it on him right?

@@Je-S1001It was in fact from an earlier issue where they tried to use it on Sally so she could be roboticized and take down Robotnik from the inside, but it failed and they almost lost Sally, hence why everyone was so against Sonic trying the same idea.
Sally being submissive and out of character is a staple of ken penders writing.

When it’s time to throw down she can be near sonics level. The ladies in the Archie comics are really fleshed out.
Actually, when you get further into the comic, she's talking about the Mobian Civil War, which has a few more details revealed to us by her uncle.
Bunnie was my favorite character in the archie comics, those days were special. The modern Sonic comic just doesn't hit the same.

It's soulless. And no amount of surface-level fanservice from Mr. "Knowing Smile" will ever change that. In fact, he basically said to "go read adult material" if you don't like the comic's surface-level approach.
It sucks that Bunnie is now a vaulted character. She's highly underrated.

@@savagewolver8541 all the freedom fighters have basically been indefinitely shelved thanks to legal restrictions, it’s been confirmed they can’t be used in the idw comics, and I think it’s the same case for the games/cartoons, it’s a shame we may never see these characters in action again
@@2bdaqueen268Well in the case of the SatAM cast, Sega does own them 100%, but it all comes down to Sega making the call to use them or not, but Ian Flynn and others at the company keep trying, so who knows what the future holds.

Honestly with the Metal Virus Arc from IDW, Bunnie could work easily. Antoine basically doesn't need _any_ explanation other than maybe his soldier uniform, which could easily be explained by him being part of the Restoration or even just a local militia(because the Sonic World clearly needs a _lot_ of protection).
Just introduce them as a couple and bam.(I say introduce them as a couple because Sega seems adamant on not changing the relationship status of characters. If they were seperate at introduction, they're seperate for life.)

@@yes_hello_how_are_you I don't think they're going to reintroduce Bunnie and Antoine without reintroducing Sally first and that's even IF they reintroduce Sally in the first place, which they probably won't. Sally, Bunnie and Antoine are a package deal.
So, my exposure to Sonic was largely due to SatAM, and I think because of that, I really bonded to Bunnie. I thought she was an underutilized but awesome character, and I liked the implicit crush she had on Sonic that I read into her constant use of the term "Sugah-hog" and body language. Honestly, I would take a fleshed out Bunnie over so many of the game and IDW characters, and I'd genuinely get behind a serious attempt to show Bunnie and Sonic as a couple; they've got a nice "speed and strength" dynamic. I've even been tempted to write some fanfiction on that line, but that requires writing Sonic fanfiction, and that's a toxic hellhole. And I say this as somebody experienced in writing Ranma 1/2 fanfiction.
I always liked how in Archie it was implied that she did like Sonic, but she didn't want to get in Sally's way. Besides, she eventually married Antoine.
So basically the Sonic/Knuckles and Sonic/Shadow dynamic (at least sort of) but…. A girl lol
I think the whole confederacy references are fine just given the fact the early issues of archie were extremely goofy and they would of course play up the southern cliche as much as they could. Back then such references were not considered unusual or off limits, whether one would agree with Da Cause or not. To be honest, I miss the campy tone of that era of the comics, its a lot of tonal whiplash when you get to the melodrama side of things with the Penders era.

I'm almost certain that the Rabbot/"Rabbeux" thing was just a weird retcon to tie more into her Southern origins. IIRC, Louisiana in particular has a lot of people with French ancestry.

i'd argue that the dream story wasn't entirely pointless. it establishes bunnie's fear of her robot parts causing her to hurt other people early on, and makes later moments in the series, namely her being controlled by ADAM's nanites and later the iron queen, hit harder because this is something we KNOW she's afraid of

I'm a little disappointed you didn't bring up one of my favorite stories. In one of the Super Special issues, there's a story where her body starts rejecting her robot parts, and she's given several options on how to deal with it. She's really scared and doesn't know what to do, until Antoine comes in her hospital room and consoles her, saying he'll stay by her side no matter what she decides. It is a very emotional story and more evidence on why her and Antoine are the perfect couple.
EDIT: Okay, I looked it up. The story is called Upgrade. It was originally published in Sonic Super Special #11, and later reprinted in Sonic Selects Trade Paperback volume 5.
Bunnie is my second favorite female Sonic character (Sally is my favorite). She was a fun character that did add to the Freedom Fighters' dynamic.
This video was really nice! It’s great to see a video for Bunnie that goes really in depth with her history + have good editing. I will ask if using the darker scans instead of the brighter Archive scans was an intentional choice?

Like, I'm not a furry or anything, but Bunnie has totally tempted me to become one on several occasions. They really drew her sexy in a lot of later issues.

They were good characters, but you can't exactly have Princess Sally without a Kingdom of Acorn. You might be able to fudge Bunnie from the whole Metal Virus thing.
But like, even if you did manage to squeeze them in, they'd have to have a very different dynamic with Sonic to the point I feel most people would be !@#$ed off anyways. And they would likely be around for like one game or comic arc and that would be it.
Its super strange how Bunnie Rabbot wanted to be a hair stylist and the rabbot from Aqua Teen Hunger Force sprays things with hair growth tonic. I wonder if Dave Willis read Archie.

Adore Bunnie-Bot. Very underrated character, who survived the robotizing phase of Dr. Robotnik turning animals into robots rather than putting them in the robots as a powersource/AI. Very plot heavy. However the writers and editors at Archie Comics are ood. The writers having no real-world experience or toning it down, where they have these really adult situations but it solved by lazy writing with plot hole and plot amor. And I wish there was a spin off of Bunnie-Bot, but the lead editor has a strange obsession with Knuckles time traveling daughter Lara-Su. So much potential can be done with this character, what a waste.

You can apply that to basically every non-reocurring Sonic character, both from games and other media
Aww you left out the issue were she comes down with an illness were her robotic limbs stop working with her organic body and gets an upgrade from Nate that enables her to function normally again.
Which ultimately is why she could never go full flesh again. You have to have the parts you were robotisized with.

It's kind of unfortunate how underrated she is...and only because the writers couldn't include her in EVERY story for contextual reasons.
Also, I'm throwing this out there, but isn't "On-Twan" pronounced "An-Twon"? You probably knew or found out by now, but for the sake of accuracy I couldn't resist telling you myself. However, I can relate.
When I saw that name in the comics, I thought it said "An-tony," and that was before I even watched SatAM, which gave me the real pronunciation. 🤣🤣🤣
My issue with the accent is that she was raised from a baby by Rosie, but somehow kept the accent. My big issue is that my first language is is French and we pronounce Antoine the way it is said in the video. I've always read it the French way and it just feels wrong to say it the English way lol.

I know it's a completely different group in charge of the Sonic comics nowadays, but I'd love for the Archie characters to be included in the IDW stories at some point 😊
First same writers that worked on the Archie comics are working on the IdE comics.
Second, that falls in SEGA decision as they hold the rights to the Freedom Fighters for better or worse. And they don’t seem to like them so they’re not coming back or if they did they would fundamentally have to change their backstories to fit with the main Sonic world.
@@viruschris3160I mean Rotor and Antoine wouldn't need too much tweaking. Did they even _have_ backstories in the show? Sally has the baggage of being a Princess of a Kingdom that has not been established to exist. Bunnie could theoretically have it so she was infected by a strain of Metal Virus that adapted to be not-spreading but also irreversible or something.
The real issue is making all four of them work at once, making them fit without robbing them of their group dynamic, and not just tossing them aside immediately but also still respecting everything IDW introduced(for example, IDW has the Restoration.).
@@brolytriplethreat Rotor might get the short end of the stick as SEGA has the Sonic Bible where only Eggman and Tails should be the only inventors of the group (for whatever stupid reason) which is why Cliff in the Sonic Boom game was meant to be an inventor like Tails but SEGA told Big Red Button no.

Sally is the most trickiest regarding why she didn't help the rest of the world even if she's a Princess. Helping her Kingdom is an easy solution.
However, SEGA seems to have a hate boner for the Archie Comic characters (and extension the Satam show). I wonder if it stems to Ken Pender as he did complicate after the whole Sonic Chronicles fiasco.
They probably want to clean their hands with any involvement with Archie and Penders.
I don't know. Maybe they don't want Sally in as Amy Rose is Sonic's "girlfriend" but now it seems like SEGA is being distance with romance now.

The most forgotten but impactful Sonic character.
From my understanding, Antoine WAS meant to die after being blown up by Metal Sonic. However fan response made them just put him in a coma.
It really shows how fan feelings changed about the guy. From people hating him in the show so badly that they asked for his death, to people loving him so much in the comics that they asked for him to live.
25 years of character development & competent writing does wonders.

Bunnie's biology is a mystery to me. How is she able to pick up a sewer grate her size without her arm just being ripped off or injuring her back?
Then they changed Bunnie's lower half. At first it was just her legs that were mechanical. All of the sudden it was from her waist to her toes. So, how does she use the bathroom?

Well,yes and no :P The more feminine shape came from a later story where Bunnie had to replace her metal parts cause they were killing her, but doing so ment she'd never be able to be dereoboticized, and with Antoine backing her, she moved forward, getting her new look. One of her best stories in fact, so I was surprised it didn't make it into the video.
Bunnie has always been a great character due to her unique position being half robot in a series where robot = bad. It's a shame she was left behind in the Archie comics.
It feels like tails had the least roles in those comics and just a reminder it feels like he barely had to do anything, he doesn't get any b******
I mean he got Mina in 25YL.
But like also, Tails gets more of a role as the comic continues. Even got a mini-series pretty early on. Once Sonic returns from Space, Tails is full on genius mode and not just a resourceful kid like his SatAM self
The Archie stuff is more about the original characters rather then the actual sonic characters sadly
@MILDMONSTER1234 you say that as if the 'actual sonic characters' predate the 'Orginal characters' when the only game characters were sonic and tails and tails was only the little brother in the orginal games, the genius aspect wasn't developed.
The comics rightly focused on the characters they built up first, and integrated the 'actual characters' as they were introduced or changed

I really didn't care for the stylized art of a lot of the eslier issues, either. It's one the reasons that I eventually stopped backtracking while reading the comics.

If it was as easy as going into the machine backwards, they wouldn't have needed aliens to deroboticize all the Robians.
Making a Deroboticizer was a recurring plot point, but it always failed or was destroyed (because status quo)
Also Bunnie was augmented, so they couldn't deroboticize her that way regardless. Her replaced parts no longer had any memory of what they were "supposed" to be, i suppose

The SatAM Freedom Fighters deserve SO MUCH MORE respect than “team dark”.
To be fair the OG Team Dark doesn't get the respect from Sega just as much as FF. At this point I have no hopes we will see the dynamic Shadow, Rouge and Omega had in Sonic Heroes and 06

Let’s be honest here outside of Sally and MAYBE Antoine the freedom fighters didn’t become real characters until Ian Flynn started writing the comic. In the actual satam show characters like bunnie and rotor are completely wasted and have little to no actual presence or development especially in season 2 where the show just forgets they exist…. Like people crap on sonic x all the time but at least that show actually utilized their own OCs for better or worse. Sonic Adventure 2 isn’t perfect but at least shadow actually has some form of arc in that game which is more then what I can say for a lot of the freedom fighters….And I don’t wanna hear of you guys whine about “wah edgelord” when I know for a fact yall meatride the hell out of scourge who can also be classified as such.

You are right, that is how it is said in the SatAM show. However, my first language is French and that's how we say it. It just feels too wrong saying it the other way.

I know, that's how they said it in the SatAM show. I'm conflicted because French is my first language and we say Antoine the way I do in the video. It's how I've always read his name and I know people with that name.
Bunnie rabbot is the sexiest and one of the strongest sonic characters period. Antonine is one lucky son of a gun. 😈💚👍

Sure, Rally4Sally movement went a little bit too aggressive, but hey since Sega didn't want to hear and other fans shutted them up for doing that what other choice there is?
And, it's kinda pointless to hate Penders. Yes, some of his stories didn't put Freedom Fighters reputation in a good light, but he was right when saying Sega didn't care about them or Archie as a whole.

Want to explain what I missed here? Because all I see is me calling it lazy writing and it kind of is just that. It's a fun story, but it's not super well done.
@@FantasticSamtastic they literally explain it at the beginning of the story! That they had gotten the robotisizer from robotnik and developed the chip, sonic plan was to use them but everyone else thought it was too dangerous so he walked off and that’s when he got captured by nack. You clearly just didn’t read theses comics and went on wikipedia considering multiple times you just didn’t know what was going on in the story. Like the change in bunnies leg and arm proportions was because they were replaced with cybernetics. I don’t even like Archie but it pissed me off.
@@Therealones745 I've got folders of these comics, I didn't want my video to be ridiculously long and so if Bunnie isn't a main character I don't spend too much time lingering on a beat.
It's still lazy writing that they got the robiticizer and the chip. It's just an excuse to make a mech fight and it doesn't follow much else of what we've seen in the comics.
I'm not talking about her new robotics, I'm talking about the fact that physically they started drawing Bunnie and other women in the comics with human-like bodies and proportions.
