Making his debut at the age of 30 after scoring 15000 runs in domestic cricket hussey was a genius , if hussey would have played for any other country he could have been one of the greatest batsmen of all time
After Lara, I’d say yes, he’s the best. I’m South African. And I loved Micheal Hussey. Mr dependable. And just the happiest bloke on the park. It baffles me that it took him that long to get his proper recognition. Legend in my eyes and up there as one of the best fielders too. Except his doozy against South Africa when he lost the ball in the air. Still cracks me up, his reaction and all hahaha
Imagine standing out there, about to face up and you're looking around to see where the gaps are, and you've got Hussey, Ponting, Clarke and Symonds in the circle. All brilliant fielders and not bad with the chirp either
I hate him for one reason, During the last Commonwealth triseries between India, Australia and Srilanka, there was one chance if Australia won over Srilanka then India and Australia will be finals but in that match Australia was about win and it was Michael hussey batting well and eventually ended up losing against Srilanka. Later Srilanka and Australia played in finals and Australia won the series. Although there was huge chance of winning against Srilanka, Australia intensionally lost the match.
@@Rikka_V1 It does if you're hating Michael for something that David has done and other than that you cant do anything about the end result of a game ..if you're dependent you cant blame the people you're dependent on ,as simple as that.
Amazing collection. Most of the catches have been taken while running backwards and those are the most difficult ones. Hussey showed everyone why age is just a number. Making debut at age of 29 and then making a mark for himself. One of the best cricketer that world has seen so far.
One of the greatest fielders of all time along with one of the greatest finishers and batsmen of all time, no one can be called Mr Cricket other than Mike Hussey
Even though I miss Channel 9's team (Ian Chappell, Lawry and so on), Fox Cricket has a very good team of commentators. Shane Warne reminds me of a modern Chappelli and Kerry O'keefe is the worlds funniest commentator. You can't go wrong with those two. However, I really dislike Isa and Mark Howard.
Slips, Gully, Cover, Mid off, Deep Midwicket, Long on and the list goes on 🤯 Mike Hussey was taking blinders everywhere in the field + hitting the bullseye with direct-hits !! 🙌 We all talk about his batting, but unfortunately not many realise how good he was in the field.
He played his career along side Ponting, Symonds & Clarke, so he's always going to be overlooked. Anyone with half a brain appreciates how good he was.
Oh , first time I am watching his this super fielding. Before watching this video I never consider him in the category of ponting , syomnds , etc. Many times I saw him taking catches at boundary. Now surprise. Because of such fielding Aus is champion along with batting and bowling.
Thank you for this visual treat! Made me nostalgic...! What awesome childhood of growing up watching these legends setting the fields on fire...!!!!🔥🔥🔥
That was an insane fielding side. This man wasn't considered one of the best fielders in the team! And, while you can't see this in the video, he even had a fantastic arm - could throw flat bullets from deep in the field!
Infield, outfield, behind the wicket, straight, square, slip, and gully - a fielding reel featuring highlights from all of the above speaks to something elite.

What people forget about Mr. Cricket was his amazing run speed, especially as a batsman. His foot speed was incredible and he got to places faster than anyone else that allowed him to take impossible catches. I grew up being a huge Mark Waugh fan of his batting and fielding but Mike Hussey was just the next level.
He played on era of ponting, clarke, andrew symonds, warne etc who were excellent fielders. Maybe thats why. Forgot to add mark waugh and damien martyn too 😅😅
