    Hey Heather,
    I want to add some info about Printful's gray packages. Those are made from recycled plastic and are able to be recycled again. They are actually working to replace all the mailers with these across the board in all of their fulfillment centers. That's actually one of the reasons I love Printful.
    I do use Printify as well for some stuff, as long with some other POD's, but Printful is actually my favorite and go to. But I'm more focused on their AOP products, which I personally find far superior to the others. Not just the print, but the great quality materials they use.
    I'd definitely like to see a video review of Printful vs Printify on AOP products.
    I think it's an important part of the POD industry that isn't being covered much.
    Thanks for sharing your experience btw 🧡

    I have used printful as my secondary provider and have used them far less often than printify. The proportion of issues I’ve had with printful far exceeds those I’ve had with printify. Printful is way way slower shipping, and I’ve had several quality issues, as well as the print size being smaller on the printful products. I have had good experiences with swift pod, monster digital, and awkward styles, which you can also order through directly, when using printify.

      Excellent observations that others have also found , besides a clear money saving difference that help offset the other costs of normal product orders , and added costs that are increasing in this quick needed price adjustment s , that established platforms are adding on using the inflation factors perhaps a little more than they really should . But that’s my personal observation and will stick to that for reference . ❤👍🏼😎

    When you choose "Printify" as your POD provider, you can choose from several printing companies, based on geography, product mix, and price. So it's really apples to oranges to compare Printify to Printful which prints in-house. For tee shirts, I like Monster Digital & Swift POD, for mugs and Tumblers I use District Photo and Spoke... all through Printify.

    This is a good video! I personally use printify. It's much cheaper so I'm able to keep my shop prices lower. I also know that receiving items individually wrapped is nice, but I've always felt like its so wasteful. Like when I get a package and every single thing is wrapped in plastic, I feel bad about it lol. I haven't had any complaints so far! I use printful for embroidery and have had good luck so far but processing time was sooooooo long compared to printify.

  • @JohnVanderbeck
    @JohnVanderbeck ปีที่แล้ว +2

    BTW the reason why some garments do DTG well and others don't has to do with the cotton value of the garment. DTG infuses with the cotton, so something like the Gildan 18000 that has only 50% cotton, the ink will be a less more faded in general, even before you look at the print provider.
    Some garments these days even intentionally have a cotton outer shell specifically to facilitate DTG.
    But as you said, a good provider works to compensate for this by doing multiple layers.

    Hi Heather, thank you for your explanation and product comparisons. I was pretty surprised by it. For my projects, accurate colour reproduction is crucial. I understand that multi-colour silkscreen printing yields more satisfying results, but it is expensive compared to these 'budget printing methods.' The price reflects that as well. Nevertheless, printing companies specializing in this type of work should make every effort to achieve the highest possible quality and, most importantly, to match the design's colours as closely as possible.

    I advise not to use a SVGs at all. They are designed at very low resolutions from 78 to 96 dpi. They are designed for cutting machines like Cricut and Silhouettes. Best are Png or jpg files are designed and sold at 300dpi. Low DPI will give a bad image when printed.

    Great video--thank you! Did you mention who you used for the white sweatshirt and T-shirt from Printify? That's one of the cons (I would think) with Printify. You might get great print quality from one printer but not so great from another. With Printful, they they ARE the printer, so there's not that variance (again--just guessing. I'm new to POD). I'm also a little jealous of the branding Printful offers. That said, $3-5 is a LOT of difference in price on something that's fairly low price point (profit margin) to begin with, so I really can't justify using Printful in most cases. Thanks again for the review!

    Printify is cheaper, sure… but what about international shipping? For most of the products ordered from Printify they used Asendia (delivery provider). Either the delivery took over a month (after production) or the package was lost.
    Printful delivered my package within a week after production to Europe, because they are also based in Europe / US / Australia / Canada.
    I’m pretty sure a customer whose package took 2 months to deliver is not going to order from me again.😢

    Hi Heather. This is a great video. Thank you for sharing these comparisons. Question. What if you tried duplicating the colorful graphic image but in white and put it to the back? • @tonamiller8298
      @tonamiller8298 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is still up to the printer. The reason the Printify looks better is because they laid down more white. If not more white then it picks up the black color behind it. And don't use SVG's. They are very low resolution. PNG's or JPG are best. Also no dark colors. I do print at home but I'm low on stock so I'm trying some POD on mugs and journals and what ever else I find. When you are 1 person and low on cash you need a plan B.

    Although this didn't feel totally impartial, the info was appreciated. I'll just keep being open to what other channels are saying as well. When all is said and done, customers do look at price, but the quality they see when they open the package is what determines in the end whether they reorder. They can tend to overlook an incident here and there if they've had a good experience in the past. All the other fluff that we may appreciate or think is a talking point generally means very little to them.

    • @misskim2058
      @misskim2058 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seems reasonable, although you would have less control over the outcome, they might have an off day and make it more saturated than you wanted, but ultimately, that looks better than faded, unless somebody’s going for that distressed, worn out look.
      It would be better to just find someone that gets it right the first time. I use different files for like backgrounds versus dark backgrounds, but I haven’t increased the saturation. I could try that next time I order. It’s a good idea to consider.

    Physical prints are always faded compared to on screen version of the image because screen graphics use the RGB color space while prints use CMYK color space. RGB is more vivid due to the light of individual pixels while printed ink does not include light.

I was impressed with Printful's print quality (I print on black as well as colours) but Customer Service was a deal-breaker... we were not happy with the maximum size of the print on their kids' sweatshirt. I had an interesting experience when I ordered something that was shipped by FedEx. I was home at the time it was delivered and saw that the driver took a picture of the package on my porch. This saves FedEx from having to replace an item that had been the victim of porch pirates. I don’t know who is responsible with packages lost from the porch but it wouldn’t be FedEx.

      Still beware of delivery people. Not saying most are bad, but there are ring camera videos out there showing drivers taking those pics for proof of delivery, but then taking the packages with them after. Frustrating problem no matter who the porch pirates are.

    FYI... Printful no longer packages their items in the additional clear plastic bag. Your order arrives in just the gray packaging, which sometimes can feel slightly dirty/dusty inside. The additional clear packaging kept the item folded like new, where just shoving the shirt into the gray "shipping" packaging provides no protection and the shirt arrives wrinkled and looks used. Their reasoning is to "Save the environment" from additional waste. Okay, but when I order a shirt, I want that shirt to be clean and protected - not wrinkled and looking used.
    In addition, Printful's fulfillment times are ridiculously slow, their prices are about the highest and the quality of their merchandise, printing and embroidery has definitely declined. I've used Printful exclusively for my POD business, but I am so fed up with their lack of customer service, slow fulfillment times, high prices, and declining quality, I've slowly started converting to Printify. Just thought I'd let y'all know my experience with Printful after using them these past three years.

    In regards to "fading", I would suggest you design in CMYK colour mode and not RGB and calibrate your monitor properly, there might be a problem there.

    The printing quality of printify is not because of the provider difference? Like sfiftpod vs monster digital? I noticed that monster rating dropped recently and I was wondering why

    13:10 It seems the Printful example got the purples right. The Printify example has the purples looking more like a blue.

    When you purchase a POD design from Creative Fabrica, you used those designs as is? I have been seeing lot of people complaining someone stole my designs but then I think to myself if you got your design from sites like creative fabrica someone else is going to get the same design too, and they are not necessarily copying. Confused about how exactly to use those designs as they can be used as is and they are much better than something I would design myself since I am not a graphic designer. Just so you know I haven’t been using any of it yet just wondering, so far trying to create mine all from scratch and no sales 😔

      Aisha, look on youtube for a video that explains the licenses for Creative Fabrica. Unless you buy the full POD license, if you don't continue paying a monthly subscription, you will have to take the designs you used down. Also, that's the only license that makes it so you don't have to make significant changes to the design. I think that's correct but confirm for yourself. I remember that "Zen Watercooler" did a detailed video on the licenses I think last year. Maybe Heather has done one. You can look at her channel first.

      @@marys.5050 thanks Mary for your reply. Yes full POD as far as I know can be used as is and that’s what confuses me that anyone can just take and use and their designs will be better than mine since I am trying to make mine from scratch 😊

      @@aishabeg4233 I wouldn't worry about it Aisha. I've bought some designs from CF and the one that sold over and over was one with simple white text that I put on a black shirt. People like simple.
