Man I remember in September 07 we were overseas and we wrote Copenhagen to say we couldn't get their products and they sent us 2-10 can logs of whiskey blend, 2-10 can logs of hickory, 2-10 can logs of snuff and long cut in the cardboard. Wrote us a big thank you letter, sent us a care package with jerky and trail mix, great memories.
@@ashtondickens2005 No, he is. The problem is like when you have a great perfomance car, with a manual transmission, and the clutch is starting to go. Motor is still putting out most of that 500 HP, and 650 foot pounds, but it ain't getting to the transmission, to send it to the axle, then the tires. Car still has the performance potential it always had, but the nut behind the wheel can't drive it, because he forgot that he friend that clutch and flywheel, a decade ago.
My first can I bought was in 1977. Cost , ¢45. I dipped off and on for 40years. Had to give it up due to oral cancer and heart condition. I sure miss it but glad I finally got past it...
I just wanna say thanks cause watching your videos when I first quit smoking help me not feel the urge to smoke and it's what got me through the process of quitting
I remember when Copenhagen released the mint. I live in Pennsylvania and we couldn't get it anywhere so I was shocked when you said that. We had to have our buddy from Florida ship us up a ton of it bc we couldn't find it in Pennsylvania. Also pretty bad ass the dip urn says Pittsburgh, Pa on it. I'm about 40 minutes north of Pittsburgh
Very interesting video, enjoyed hearing about the history. When I was a kid in the early '70's, we would ride our bicycles to the store and buy Copenhagen with whatever change we had. It was legal for kids to buy tobacco back then, and it was cheap. Copenhagen was around 50 cents back then. The store had Copenhagen, Skoal, and Happy Days (mint flavored). I never liked Happy Days because I don't like mint.
Great video! Copenhagen SNUFF! First dip I ever had. It's hard to believe all these dips are so recent. Way back when I was in high school lotta people dipped but I guess it was a pretty limited selection, Copenhagen, Kodiak, and a couple of Skoals. Would love to see a history of all Skoals video and maybe all Grizzlies.
I remember when grisly came out a rep came into work asking if we chew and at the time only did occasionally, I said no he was given out sleeves of it I quickly changed my turn and took one of each regular and wintergreen and the 10 sleeve packs
@@johnjones8412 those were brighter days, when reps could hand them out for free. I missed all that, as I only started dipping in 2018 in my early 40s.
Like Skoal Peach was your first dip, Copenhagen Long Cut was my first experience with dip. You're a cool guy man. I like your shows a lot, they're entertaining and straitforward. I am from Chevak, Alaska.
The original was a very fine cut and you used a spoon or knife blade to take it out of the jar. The cans were a shift to offer something lower priced and that could be stocked by retailers vs mail order in bulk. Snuff and fine cut as a term for fine cut is kind of complicated, from what I understand. Theres a lot of arguments about it. Also fun fact, Copenhagen Black isn't entirely a seasonal dip, there is a music venue/club in Nashville that has it in stock all year round.
Typically with those urns you would fill a can or pouch of your own, which you carried in your pocket and from which you would then proceed to pack a pinch of that satisfaction. Refill your can from the urn as needed until you’re ready to buy another one.
