We owned a house built in 1850. We sold it to a nice young man. He lived in it for 3 months before he ran out screaming in front of the whole neighborhood. Claimed it was haunted and totally abandoned it. If haunted, that was news to us since we lived there for 25 years.
This story caused me to remember so many paranormal things I have experienced. When living in a hunting lodge at a manor on the Welsh Borders in front of an old manor house (with a lovely one mile driveway) I went to the bedroom one day and there was a 'fog' about three feet off the floor. There were fire places in every room so I called in a service to see if there was a problem and clean the chimneys. No problems. It was very old and listed in the doomsday book as the Kings hunting grounds. Lived in another house in Oceanside, CA and my partner was a salesman so would leave on business quite often. All sorts of things happened in that house. I was doing dishes when he was gone and felt like I was being watched. Turned around and saw this man and he just disappeared. So many other things happened in that house, but I told his daughter what he looked like and she said 'That's my dad. He built this house'.

@@ObsoleteOddity I'm ALWAYS on your channel 🥰 I don't wait around for You Tube to decide who gets notifications cause we know how that goes. I agree with you as I think Mary was murdered. The story on line I saw once stated she and a guy were soposed to be in the back seat of a car, a guy with his date were in the front seat -- then there was a 'car crash', the guy & girl in the front seat just get scratches but the guy in the back seat gets a fractured skull & Mary was soposed to have been thrown out the passenger side window & she died on the way to the hospital. I remember reading that but the other two just get scratches? I know of one story that's true. A man saw a pretty lady in a white dress & she was really upset as she wanted to get out of the cemetery but the gate was locked. The man called the police from I think it was the place across the street & got back out in time to see the woman actually staring to bend the thick bars on the gate & then she just faded in a bright flash of light I think it said then she disappeared. The police came and saw the bars widened & there were gold coloured hand prints left on the gate. The gate was painted gold but the prints still shown so to this day those two bars were cut off and remain so. Who knows if all that's true but the two bars ARE still gone and 'that' is true but the story with it? I would think a 'ghost' could just walk though the gate -- right? But if Mary died in a car crash I'd think her sprite might just move on -- unless she WAS murdered, maybe she's looking for who murdered her? 🥴 I guess we'll never know the true story. She was only 21 years old when she died. At church tomorrow I'm going to talk to a really nice man named Matt who once was a police officer & now is a pastor cause a dude named Gordon is just one creepy little dude who does not take "no" for an answer. Trying to be nice I keep telling him that one day he'll find a nice girl -- that I'm not interested in having a 'boy friend '-- I've nicely repeated that um-teen times, it doesn't register with Gordon. He has a car, he doesn't need a ride to church or to the Vet dinners on Tuesday nights -- Tomorrow he'll show up at my apt building, sit on the bench I'm sitting on and stare & just repeat his same old lines that I should just 'move in with him' -- I repeat the same things trying to be nice but firm -- it goes in one ear and out the other -- the dude is walking a thin line. I'm going to ask Matt if he thinks I should get a restraining order on Gordon. That's how serious it's gotten. I've found out that Gordon already has some run in's with the law as he was caught peeping in woman's windows. I'm on the 5th floor-- 🤣🤣but the dude has knocked on my apt door-- 3 times already but I won't open the door-- Enough is enough -- I'll talk to Matt and see what he says. Maybe he'll talk some sense into Gordon because if he tries to kiss me again I sware I will knock him the 'F' out ! I kind of think he wants me to do that but of course -- no-- nope-- violence is the last thing I want. Gordon is going to get a wake up call tomorrow -- I'm sure my pastor & if need be pastorS at the church will talk to him -- and Tuesday night I will ask Jimmy & Barry the two men in charge of the meeting to have a talk with Gordon and tell him NOT to go to the Vet meetings any more. Gordon is not a Vet-- he does nothing at the meetings -- at church he just reads his phone. He's just a creepy little dude who doesn't take "no" for an answer. He'd 🥴better shortly or he just might meet 'R./Mary' in person ! 😳 Sorry for such a long commet but I've been dealing with 'Jr' for like 2 months now--- he needs to take "no" for an answer & move on & get a life. If he tries laying hands on me again he WILL BE on the ground -- I'd rather be non violent -- it's just his barely 5 foot tall -- 110 pd dude needs to see the Wizard of Oz & ask for a brain. I'm only 5' 4" but I work out at the senor center after walking all the miles too & from there and am 250 pds, I dout Gordon could lift the metal bar without the weights on...🤣 them, I just like to be healthy nothing wrong with that right? On September 16, I was invited to a cook out in back of the apt building -- we all bring some stuff for the get together -- If Gordon shows up unannounced I don't think he'll like my 'homeies' ( My friends--- black Vet dudes who are super nice folks -- but mess with one of their Vet buds is a BIG NO NO... So Jr. best not show up doing his creepy stairs thing. Things will work out for the best--- just keep being positive --- right Oddie ? If you've read this long comment I hope you weren't bored to death. Anyway the above is what's been going on this side of the pond. If you guys ever need a body guard I work for ODDIE VIDEO'S --- 😎👍
Oh Oddie, I too just love the Victorian haunt ing stories. Boy oh boy, they really knew how to tell a tale! Thank you so much Oddie ,noone can tell a tale like ypou Sir!!! I hope you feel better soon!❤
Oh Wow! Loved this story, and the magic of how you present it! Love the old sepia tint pictures sometimes brought them into life:)) No one does it better than you Oddie Beau! No one! After listening to your marvelous telling of this truthful story, I most certainly agree 50 Berkeley square is definitely haunted! Now the creature of horror, must be a demon who takes a vile shape, one of dreams...creepy, crawly, Shite brought to life. I do also believe the residents who lived and died there must also roam around. It could be residual energy..but some ghosts just never leave, as they are trapped in this window of time. All Love & God Bless you & yours:)) Thank you from Florida!
I couldn't help but chuckle at "Shite brought to life"😂 made me think- Hey, I know a bunch of folks walking around living right now who are that, I'd sure hate to see them claw their way back into our realm after death and harass people in perpetuity😖❌️
I loved this 🙏 I once walked down the steps to the River Thames , from the back of Berkeley square , and to my utter delight , in the middle of the afternoon a nightingale sang ! My friend and I could not believe it ! That certain night The night we met There was magic abroad in the air There were angels dining at the Ritz And a nightingale sang in Berkeley square I may be right I may be wrong But I'm perfectly willing to swear That when you turned and smiled at me A nightingale sang in Berkeley square…..
Hach schööööön, many thanks for this story. I always enjoy them so much, you have such a way with words, and these brilliant pictures, the animated scenes, your well modulated voice ... it is always a feast for the mind to follow you on your stories! Many kind regards from Berlin Germany! ❤
Story request: The Hannes Tiedemann House, also known as the Franklin Castle, of Cleveland, Ohio, USA. It's got everything (infanticide, secret passages, the murder of a house maid on her wedding day who'd jilted the advances of the homeowner...) and the architecture is very interesting, Victorian-Era at its finest, five-storied. I'd love to see it in a future episode!
I feel the same as you! Since I was a child I’ve always been fascinated by anything haunted or old!! I grew up in a famous Civil War town and history surrounded me. Another great story 🥰. Thanks for all the wonderful stories ♥️

I totally agree that it was an elemental, perhaps created from intense emotional energies. Fear, pain, suffering and cruelty are all factors in bringing this creature into existence.

The Berkley Square house has me thinking of the Crain mansion in Shirley Jackson's "The Haunting of Hill House": in the trailer for the movie version ("The Haunting" starring Julie Harris) Sir Richard Johnson as Dr. Markway says that the house was "...born bad".
Spooky stories!!! Not heard of these before but well done. Not feeling well but had to watch my Oddie Beau, all stuffed up, coughing & no voice. I just discovered your channel and am very happy to have done so! The 70s did indeed excel in horror stories, campy ones to quite serious ones. And they all terrified me when I was a kid. Thank you for the work you've done, it's all excellent!
Your story telling usually has me gripped by the shoulders but this one? Just wow! One of your best ones yet. Would've been great for Halloween but so very glad you put it out now. Love me some Oddie!! 🥰❤☠
The 1970s and early 1980s were full of these kitchy books. My best friend and I read them all the time. She read more of them than I did because her mother read them as well. That's how I came to know about the house on Berkeley Square as well. I still love a good ghost story all these decades later.
Thank you for creepy stories, Oddie. You never disappoint!! I enjoy all things from the Victorian era. Theres a bit of creep factor about many things from that era that were probably seen as normal everyday stuff back then. Anyone else feel the same or Is it just me? 😆
You’re most welcome my friend, and thank you so much for your lovely feedback. I definitely think antique horror tales are way more disturbing than their modern counterparts - the creep factor is definitely diluted with modern horror films, that’s why they tend to overdo the gore and violence.
Wow! With exception to the ghost stories book and the wedding gown one I had (possibly still do in my bookcase) all of those other Pan horror books you showed the covers of. I too was fascinated with them as a teen and tried to collect them whenever I saw them which sadly wasn't often. :(

Thank you for not saving this delicious treat for Halloween Oddie👏 Such an intriguing place! I saw someone comment that it's a bookstore now, I wonder if staff or customers have ever experienced anything unusual, or if remodeling the place quieted the activity. Remodeling can often set it off or make it worse but occasionally calm it too🤷♀️👻
Very glad you enjoyed it, my friend! Yes, if you listen to my after chat, I mentioned that it was a bookstore and what the staff think of the building’s past.
Again you didn't disappoint Oddie. And those pics you found of all the paranormal creatures were not typical which made them even more unnerving. I've always thought London/British Isle has more of this type of thing then any other place.
First time I heard of the haunting at 50 Berkley Square I think I was nine or ten, and the book I was reading only had the story of the two sailors in it. Thanks for researching and uncovering so much more history on this interesting place!

I'm on the 5th floor-- 🤣🤣but the dude has knocked on my apt door-- 3 times already but I won't open the door--
Enough is enough -- I'll talk to Matt and see what he says. Maybe he'll talk some sense into Gordon because if he tries to kiss me again I sware I will knock him the 'F' out !
I kind of think he wants me to do that but of course -- no--
nope-- violence is the last thing I want.
Sorry for such a long commet but I've been dealing with 'Jr' for like 2 months now--- he needs to take "no" for an answer & move on & get a life.
On September 16, I was invited to a cook out in back of the apt building -- we all bring some stuff for the get together -- If Gordon shows up unannounced I don't think he'll like my 'homeies'
( My friends--- black Vet dudes who are super nice folks -- but mess with one of their Vet buds is a BIG NO NO... So Jr. best not show up doing his creepy stairs thing.

I appreciate that my friend, glad you enjoyed it 🙏😊
I so agree with you! I love these victorian haunted stories and there is no voice better than yours that can tell them. Thank you again Oddie. 👍
@@judyrichards969 I appreciate that Judy, thank you so much for the kind compliment. 🙏😊
Thanks for your very kind feedback my friend - much appreciated 😊
I couldn't help but chuckle at "Shite brought to life"😂 made me think- Hey, I know a bunch of folks walking around living right now who are that, I'd sure hate to see them claw their way back into our realm after death and harass people in perpetuity😖❌️
I loved this 🙏 I once walked down the steps to the River Thames , from the back of Berkeley square , and to my utter delight , in the middle of the afternoon a nightingale sang ! My friend and I could not believe it !
That certain night
The night we met
There was magic abroad in the air
There were angels dining at the Ritz
And a nightingale sang in Berkeley square
I may be right I may be wrong
But I'm perfectly willing to swear
That when you turned and smiled at me
A nightingale sang in Berkeley square…..
Lovely! Thanks for sharing that.
That is beautiful. I love it. Thanks for sharing.
Always a good day when Oddie Beau posts a new story! Thanks for your hard work!
My pleasure! I really appreciate your positive feedback - thank you very much :)
I love this old style of horror. The new stuff is just bloody and grotesque. No mystery or thrill.
Wow, talk about layers and layers of human history in one place. Thank you once again for an amazing story we may not have known about otherwise.
Thanks for your very kind feedback my friend - much appreciated 😊
Hach schööööön, many thanks for this story. I always enjoy them so much, you have such a way with words, and these brilliant pictures, the animated scenes, your well modulated voice ... it is always a feast for the mind to follow you on your stories! Many kind regards from Berlin Germany! ❤
Thank you so much for reaching out with your kind feedback, my friend, very glad you’re enjoying my content 🙏😊
Thanks for the tip!
@@ObsoleteOddity This is my favorite TH-cam channel 👍
Much appreciated 😊
THIS IS INCREDIBLE! Never been so terrified as with this narrative!
So glad you enjoyed the presentation - very much appreciated 😊
I feel the same as you! Since I was a child I’ve always been fascinated by anything haunted or old!! I grew up in a famous Civil War town and history surrounded me. Another great story 🥰. Thanks for all the wonderful stories ♥️
😊 Much appreciated, thank you kindly!
I've heard the story of the two sailors before, but the other tales are totally new to me.
Love this, nothing like a great British ghost story!
So glad you enjoyed the presentation - very much appreciated 😊
You’re the best Oddie! Thank you for all you do.
I really appreciate that, thank you.
Thank you Oddie for yet another chilling story. Thank you for all your hard work in bringing these stories to us. The very best to you and yours.❤
I’m very glad you enjoyed it my friend, thank you so much for your positive feedback!
Oh Oddie, I can send you love & appreciation... of which I have a surplus that never runs dry. If the day ever does come when I can spare a few bills, you are most definitely at the top of my list. You are an original, & we all need more Oddities. There's no one out there that comes close in comparison to you and your talents. You are so very special and are loved & adored by so many wonderful people around this wacky world. I just wanted to tell you this. ....LUV'N & PEACE-OUT!
Thanks for your kind words Dolly, that's so nice of you.
That was a first rate story Oddie , You never disappoint ! . 👍👍 . The creature as described almost sounds like " The Elemental " that haunts Leep Castle in ( I think ) Ireland . Keep up the great work and much ❤ and respect from Dundalk , Maryland USA
I appreciate that, very glad you enjoyed the presentation!
I totally agree that it was an elemental, perhaps created from intense emotional energies. Fear, pain, suffering and cruelty are all factors in bringing this creature into existence.
This is truly creepy. I myself believe that there is much to our reality that can never be explained. I always enjoy your stories. Thank you for these incredible moments.
Thank you so much for reaching out with your kind feedback, my friend, very glad you’re enjoying my content 🙏😊
I enjoyed your story immensely as usual. Great visuals.
I have loved ghost stories since I was a kid. I used to go to out public library and read every ghost story book there.
Although I do not nor have ever believed in ghosts or the supernatural I still love ghost stories.
Very glad you enjoyed the presentation my friend, you don’t have to believe in ghosts to enjoy a Victorian Gothic ghost tale 😉👻
Gobbled it up! Love your stories and your very soothing voice!
I really appreciate that, thank you.
Oddie, Love your channel. Like many I am always looking forwards to your next work! ❤❤
😊 Much appreciated, thank you kindly!
I love gothic horror as well! Thank you for another incredible video!! I’ve always been fascinated with the paranormal.
Thank you so much for reaching out with your kind feedback 😊
Hi Oddy & Oddy fans. 👋.
Love a good ghost story. I'd not heard of this. That's why I love your channel! You don't tell the typical well known stories, & if you do tell a well known one you tell it with your great voice & visuals 👍👍👍.
That’s very kind of you my friend, thank you so much for the lovely compliment!
I love hearing about all these strange, dark, spooky, mysterious haunting ghost stories. Even better when narrated to perfection by one of the best story tellers out there. As always thank u immensely Oddie for always providing quality & fascinating content for us viewers to enjoy. U never fail to disappoint
I’m glad this tale was to your liking Chris, and thank you so much for your, as always fantastic feedback and loyalty, very much appreciated 😄😊
I live in the uk and never heard of 50 Berkeley square before but I thoroughly enjoyed this. Thanks oddie x
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you 😊
The Berkley Square house has me thinking of the Crain mansion in Shirley Jackson's "The Haunting of Hill House": in the trailer for the movie version ("The Haunting" starring Julie Harris) Sir Richard Johnson as Dr. Markway says that the house was "...born bad".
Perfect story for spooky season! I recommend the oxford book of gothic tales and the oxford book of ghost stories. They have beautiful covers too.
Spooky stories!!! Not heard of these before but well done. Not feeling well but had to watch my Oddie Beau, all stuffed up, coughing & no voice. This happens to me in fall season but every year it's different------it may be slight or even skip a year. Born with all these allergies so do the best I can.. Enjoy your videos so much don't think I've missed one since I joined your channel. Really love hearing you tell the stories!!!❤
Very glad you enjoyed it Sandra, thank you.
Oh I know all about allergies, I have suffered since I was a child - it has got much better over the years, but every year at the same time when the grasses pollinate, I start with the sinuses and a really annoying dry cough which lasts for about one month
Very glad you’re enjoying my content, and hope you have a peaceful Sunday. 🙏😊
I have heard this haunting story a number of times. Your visuals and telling of the story are so much more interesting.
I appreciate that very much, thank you so much for reaching out with your kind feedback.
I read Great Expectations. Isn't that the book with the lady who is stuck in time? Loved this story.
That was Funn! 😲.
You've outdone yourself again. ☺️.
Herbst brings in dryer air, hence
The stuffed sinuses. 💜👍.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you 😊
Yay!!! Good morning Oddie 🎉 can't wait to hear a great story.
Hope you enjoy it!
I just discovered your channel and am very happy to have done so! The 70s did indeed excel in horror stories, campy ones to quite serious ones. And they all terrified me when I was a kid. Thank you for the work you've done, it's all excellent!
Welcome aboard, and thank you so much for your great feedback!
Very happy, you’re enjoying my content, new video coming soon!
This was the first ghost story I ever read back in 1969 ! Hooked me forever on the Paranormal 🎉 Thank you for the video ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
You never cease to amaze me! Hats off to you my friend in telling your wonderful stories the way you tell them.
Thank you very much!
Your story telling usually has me gripped by the shoulders but this one? Just wow! One of your best ones yet. Would've been great for Halloween but so very glad you put it out now. Love me some Oddie!! 🥰❤☠
I really appreciate that, thank you.
Loved the story and found it fascinating. Great job telling it!
Thanks so much!
The 1970s and early 1980s were full of these kitchy books. My best friend and I read them all the time. She read more of them than I did because her mother read them as well. That's how I came to know about the house on Berkeley Square as well. I still love a good ghost story all these decades later.
Oddy, your videos are one of the ones I can go back and rewatch many times over and still get great enjoyment from them.
That’s a great compliment, and very much appreciated my friend 😊
This story has always been one of my favorites.
I love your stories thank you for sharing once again no one does these like you hopes and wishes to good health and happiness to you and yours
I appreciate that, very glad you’re enjoying my content, and thank you for the blessings, which I return in kind 😊🌟
Brilliant video, as always. Thank You for producing such wonderfully intriguing works of art, entertaining yet creepy and mysterious...perfect!
Thank you very much!
Thank you! I really enjoyed that!😃👍👍♥️
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you too 🙏
Oddie the master of story telling. Best channel on TH-cam. Thanks my friend ✌️🍺
That’s a great compliment, and I appreciate it very much my friend, thank you!
Wow! With exception to the ghost stories book and the wedding gown one I had (possibly still do in my bookcase) all of those other Pan horror books you showed the covers of. I too was fascinated with them as a teen and tried to collect them whenever I saw them which sadly wasn't often. :(
Another fine piece of work Mr.beau
Thank you! Cheers!
I absolutely love love your content! Please keep posting videos!🎉😊😊
Thank you! Will do!
Another wonderful story telling oddie, please keep them coming! ❤😊
Very glad you enjoyed it my friend, thank you so much!

As one of the absolute best youtubers on here, in my humble opinion, it's so refreshing to see you making videos again. Thank you Obsolete Oddity.
Very glad you enjoyed it my friend, thank you so much for reaching out with your great feedback!
I never stopped making videos, although there was a time where I wasn’t uploading so often to TH-cam, but I was still uploading regularly to Patreon
Your stories and illustration are just astonishing, thank you.
Glad you like them! Thank you so much 😊
Oh Oddie, you have done it again with this video. It was so creepy and I love your illustrations. Much appreciation for your talent from Canada 🇨🇦 ❤
Thank you so much, very glad you enjoyed it!
I loved this one.
I enjoy going to ghost towns in Alberta and British Columbia!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you 😊
Oddie your TH-cam has been and always is my favourite channel. Thank you for the content! ❤
I appreciate that, thank you so much!
Again you didn't disappoint Oddie. And those pics you found of all the paranormal creatures were not typical which made them even more unnerving. I've always thought London/British Isle has more of this type of thing then any other place.
Very glad you enjoyed it Violet, thank you so much for your great feedback!
A great video, as always! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you 😊
First time I heard of the haunting at 50 Berkley Square I think I was nine or ten, and the book I was reading only had the story of the two sailors in it. Thanks for researching and uncovering so much more history on this interesting place!
Thank you so much for reaching out with your positive feedback, very glad you enjoyed the video!
Thanks Oddie! I just love your stories! I also love haunted house stories!
Thank you my friend, I appreciate that - we both love haunted house stories!
I love that story too! It seems I’ve read a book about the haunted Mayfair’s somewhere back in my “long ago.” I will try to find it and read it again. Thank you🤗❤️🐝
You’re welcome, glad you enjoyed it!

Dearest Oddie, a wonderful video to lead into the Halloween season! Plenty of excitement and suspense, with a bit o' spookiness!!!! Absolutely perfect! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Thank you! 😊 Glad you enjoyed the presentation my friend!
The work you put in is so classy and intriguing to watch, you feel it. I adore your work oddie, you're a natural storyteller, (the best place by the fire was kept.....for the storyteller 🔥💗 😃💗👏👏👏.

Awesome! Thank you!
Oh oddie, i absolutely loved this one. It's one of my favorites. Well done
I really appreciate that, thank you.
AWESOME EPISODE I love Victorian Era and Charles Dickenson favorite author thanks
I really appreciate that, thank you.
Oddie, you are quite the talented artist! I also enjoy your narrating! Thank you!!
I appreciate that my friend, thank you so much for the compliment!
How typically Oddie these tales are - I read while having a sleepless night - not to be recommended ! Though I love the macabre feeling and itchiness they cause !
I love the tale of Miss Haversham and have always fancied myself as a jilted wan faced spirit floating round a ghastly tomb terrorising nasty souls who deserve it ! Wonder if readers can think of anyone they would like to expose this kind of torture to ?!?!*!
Anyway Oddie thanks for helping me through another sleepless night !
Hope the lovely Odette and yourself thrive and the sinuses improve !
Take care and thanks again for all the exquisite entertainment you provide !

Thanks for your really great feedback Janice, a truly wonderful compliment - much appreciated :)
I've heard this story before and found it so creepy but its great to hear it narrated by you! The books at the end gave me a long forgotten childhood memory 😂 my parents had quite a few of these I remember the one with half a face half skull, there also one with a big spider on a face that I hated as a kid! They dont really look too scary now but as a child they were 😂
That’s very kind of you my friend, thank you so much.
I agree, as a child, the covers were fascinating, but equally frightening. Some of them just seem to sear into your mind.
Ooooh Oddie! How wonderfully spooky this story is. Mixed with the voice and the well placed pics illustrating the story…sheer perfection! Fall weather will soon be upon us and Halloween is not far away. This would be great included in a compilation of all your other spooky tales. Perfect for the spooky season!
Very glad you enjoyed it my friend, thank you so much for reaching out with your great feedback!
