Wow-- the DRV 44 Columbus loaded with options has a sticker price of $200,000. Comment here if you own one. What are the pros and cons of this luxury fifth wheel?
I believe it's way over priced . Yob can find 5th wheels top of the line with washer dryer for less I own a 2017 Entegra cornerstone 43ft 4 slides 600 cummins 12.5 Onan gen three 15000 then line ACs Washwr Dryer Same dish washer
This Comment is outdated, so sorry. You made this video back in Dec. of 2019. It looks slick on the outside I noticed, and the Frameless Windows add to it. Nice Roller Shades, I've always liked them. Good job. Thanks.
We are owners of a 2021 mobile suites Columbus unit. Absolutely love it. I only wish there was a place to hang longer coats They also need to get rid of the floor vents and add more plugs and chargers for electrical use. I keep my printer and office supplies on the shelves on the counter near the table Kitchen cupboard for example coffee cups. The shelves are not useful for the average height person. The ceiling vents are home vents and difficult to clean and maintain.
So glad to hear that overall you are happy with the Columbus. I, too, was surprised about the floor vents. It does seem like a fabulous camper with SO much storage space. I couldn't decide if this is best for stationary camping or if it's good for regular travel. What do you think? Thanks for watching and happy travels.
@@LizAmazing well me myself I'd be afraid that's like driving a semi to me I think I'd want to get it to the first trailer park I could and get it set up but I'm a scaredy-cat I'd be shaking all the way in that thing just me definitely a destination fifth wheel
That's what I was thinking-- it's SO big that you wouldn't want to travel often or far with it. BUT...I am confused with the FOUR pass-thrus. Would you need that much storage for a destination traveler? I've not had one -or done that kind of camping- to know.
I was disappointed that it didn’t have a huge “picture “ window in the back, like yours and mine...that would be a deal breaker for me...and, of course, so is the $200,000 price tag ! Glad you are feeling better. Get well soon!!
Thanks Lynne! Yes, unfortunately for the $200,000 you dont get some of the features that are on the (much) cheaper Grand Designs. I am confused by this DRV 44 though. Not sure what you’d use it for. Did you get a big window in your new rig? Im discovering a rear dinette is a rare thing!
The shower killed it for me. I felt claustrophobic just thinking about trying to maneuver around the toilet to squeeze into the shower opening. I’ve seen small class C’s with bigger bathrooms.
My good friend we kinda run together He just bought 2019 Grand Design my god he has 5 slides washer Dryer Has 2 full baths rear master bath He had to by bigger truck Dish washer His has 3 Acs it still didnt cost 200k
@@LizAmazing that too! LoL! Funny because we’re looking for another 5th wheel …… the one we just bought 10 months ago isn’t working for us like we thought it would……and I was 👀 videos ……1 of them wasn’t a high end luxury rv and it had more bells and whistles than some high end RVs have……including all of the vents in the bottom of the walls and up in ceiling! Now I know if a mid priced RV can do it then these higher end ones sure can…… and MORE BASEMENT STORAGE as well 😂. Unfortunately the ones we looked at w/a lot of basement storage space just don’t meet our needs!! Thnx for the videos I know a lot of us appreciate the hard work 😊
It sure is a heavy one! I think a one ton would be enough, but I don't know that you would be traveling with it on a regular basis. I don't know what they designed the DRV 44 Columbus for, but I think it might be nice to move it only seasonally.
Completely closed up its unusable, towing 4 days to a destination means you have to stay at an RV park every night , to open up to sleep , have supper, or wind down from the drive. That's providing your trip plan/stopover and pocket book can handle it. Not to mention the stress of parking a 44 foot monster. I have a 37 foot luxury Palomino Columbus 320 model (326 sq/ft living space) that I've retired in 5 years ago. Mine is completely usable closed up as my center island is on wheels (movable) and is strapped down at the rear. Stove and residential fridge (21 cuþft) are in a slide and the sink w/cabinets on an interior wall so the space between the opposing slides(26") is enough to access the fridge, cook on the stove, microwave dinners, and wash dishes before the next days drive . Up the stairs to a full bath with a 3 glass door shower then into the bedroom for sleep. If the buyer of the DRV is happy staying at RV resorts with full hook ups as these luxury units are designed for as was mine its truly a rolling condo. I love mine as it has the same wood trimmings (cherry) just one third the price. Caution on the solar capacity, with 2x 6volt deep cycle batteries (12 volts) at 400+ amp/hrs the residential fridge will drain them in 8-10 hours with out shore power at night providing the furnace doesn't run for cold nights and days it'll need at least 300 watt panel to recharge. These units are designed for WOW factor and that's what hooked me on mine, if I had to do it again, heck no, but I won't have to as being all in I've had to completely change the power structure and am now 90% solar powered w a generator for back up and have luxury with no close neighbors. My 3 cats and I love it.
Yes. I think it's important people really consider how they will use it and what they need to access when it's all closed up. Sounds like you did your homework!
The height of the ceiling is disgusting low very very low that is horrible. Who in their right mind would buy that ? and pop out go out what 12 inches maybe 14 inches what even is the sense in having those considering all the extra cost and life time troubles involved.. I would never buy that thing.
Thank you, Sheila. Honestly, we couldn't figure out their target buyer. It seemed like it would be good for a stationary campsite, but then it has ALL that storage. We agree, super pricey!

Thank you! We were impressed by some of the features and not so much with others. It will be interesting to see what updates the DRV comes out with.
@@LizAmazing I'm not familiar with DRV's myself, but look good.
Great tour - the fit and finish on that rig is fantastic
ED ABRAMS The DRV 44 Columbus sure is gorgeous!

Wow! really luxurious! That is a really nice rig! Thank you for sharing!
You are so welcome- the DRV 44 Columbus sure is a beautiful fifth wheel!
@@LizAmazing it is. I always wonder what those fancy RVs look like inside!
Hi Liz thanks for the Grand Tour real nice trailer
It sure is. I'm just not sure if the DRV 44 Columbus was designed for traveling or is a destination fifth wheel. What do you think?

Liz Amazing mine is a rear living model with a HUGE picture window in the back and 2 recliners.
Nice unit! Why does it not have instant hot water?
It should! Maybe they would throw that in for you. We couldn't figure out why it had floor vents.
The shower killed it for me. I felt claustrophobic just thinking about trying to maneuver around the toilet to squeeze into the shower opening. I’ve seen small class C’s with bigger bathrooms.
I agree! Such a lovely fifth wheel but the shower toilet setup is not good! Thanks for watching and commenting.
My god..awesome treiler.my dream....so super amazing fantastik awesome rv.its a dream i want that and anything else.so mazic.
Thank you!! See you in 2020!!
At nearly 22,000 lbs dry I suspect they were trying to save weight with the cable slides.
That could be. There is certainly lots to like about the DRV 44 Columbus-- but am not sure what kind of camping this fifth wheel is built for??
Would be better with a new 12 V fridge raider
Agreed! And with no floor vents.
My good friend we kinda run together
He just bought 2019 Grand Design my god he has 5 slides washer Dryer Has 2 full baths rear master bath
He had to by bigger truck
Dish washer
His has 3 Acs it still didnt cost 200k
Exactly! I don't really know what you're getting with this-- other than the humongeous outside storage.
For the $$$ it should have On Demand water heater!
Yes it should AND floors without vents in them!

I hate the cable slide out.
We do, too! Surprising for a rig of this price point. Come on DRV, you can do better!
You need a commercial truck for that one
It sure is a heavy one! I think a one ton would be enough, but I don't know that you would be traveling with it on a regular basis. I don't know what they designed the DRV 44 Columbus for, but I think it might be nice to move it only seasonally.
That inverter is way too small it should come with a 5000 watt Inverter and six batteries for that kind of price range
Agreed. We were surprised by what you don’t get for that price.
200k really
Yeah, I was surprised how much it cost when not as nice as my 2020 that I paid a fraction of that.
Thx. Like #47
Thank you!

Never buy a brand new camper unless you’ll really like losing all your money
That’s what they say. My last two campers were brand new but there are certainly good arguments for going used.
