So unusual to see green colours after playing Long Dark for so long, and the weather doesn't reap you right away haha. I like the variety though, definetely interesting to see your perspective on another survival.
Thank you for giving Green Hell a try! I really enjoy this game, I find it less punishing than TLD. Base building, map and advanced cooking. I’m excited to see you going through the learning curve and get to Godmode
Hey glad to see you pick this game up again. Sure, not as much challenge, but what kept me interested was that you did more in 1 video than I did in my whole playthrough :)
This is one of the funniest thing seen in a long time... My TLD hero who fears no wolf nor bear and even not within a full aurora... Starts a looper GH run and can only remember the basic things! 😋 And out of a sudden: "is this food or..." 🤣 But give him a bow and he conquer the world! I'm playing this game on highest difficulty for about 2 month now and seeing you is a déjà vu of me first try survivor mode in TLD... I stumbled around with my head full of story related game play... This will be my new all time favourite video! I'm laughing my ass of...💖😉 I hope I do not sound disrespectful... I don't want to roast you and your game play... Rely enjoyed it!
I rewound it to laugh again at him actually saying “is this food or?” I can’t tell if it was a joke or he’s morphing into a Long Dark character but I’m here for both
Its nearly the same as "The Infected" but much more relaxing it seems. In the Infected you would have regular Zombie Raids and much more exploring. Its worth a look if you haven´t done yet.
Im still waiting for that perfect survival game. I like the forest but its just not detailed enough, i LOVE the long dark its perfect for what it is. No bad updates pr changes. Just perfect BUT what i would like is an ultra realistic multiplayer detailed real life survival game. No fancy stuff. Just plain hard survival in a moderate climate area. Some huts and maybe a few factory buildings, but mostly nature. You can find guns and other things in the old areas but for a long time just spears etc and very good base building just 100 pages of options and easy to manage building mechanics. no story needed that what the multiplayer is for. Id gladly pay 60 bucks for that. And yes its a lot to ask but there are a lot of things that im not asking for like story or enemys etc. We dont need that.
@@Zb_Calisthenic That game is absolute garbage. Because trying to get into that game now is impossible with the shear amount of tryhards. It's WAY too competitive to even be fun
Green Hell is a much less mechanically complicated game than The Long Dark. It has complexities that TLD does not, however, I.E. Macronutrients, Combat, Plant Species, etc. I've always found it more game-y and less immersive than TLD. I usually turn off Tribes with the Custom Difficulty, murdering indigenous people is not what I like to do with my time, it is upsetting. That being said, here are a few tips: 1.) The Turtle Shell is the BEST item in the game. This is because you can drink from it twice, effectively allowing you to double the calories from a single item. I believe the pot does the same (could be wrong), but weighs a lot more and does not come with a package deal of meat. 2.) I find it best to play the game in a semi-nomadic way, similar to TLD. Set up a base for each area, with a simple Lean-To, a Campfire, and a Log Bed. The villages around the map are the best places for this, usually with a roof and sometimes a bed already. This will become necessary, as the longer you stay in a spot, the more Waraha Warriors will come. 3) It is technically better to not sleep in cover, as it has no debuffs, yet the rain will clean you (it used to do so as well while under a roof before they fixed it in the most recent patch) 4.) Honey is the best dressing, and will solve literally anything, it is like having every other dressing in one. "Nectar of the Gods". Most useful for predator lacerations. 5.) 80% of mastering this game is just knowing what to eat. The best answer to food poisoning are Water Lily's. The rest is combat. Attack and then immediately block with R, and repeat. 6.) Armadillo Armour is HEAVY. Should have kept the Stick Armour for travel, and Armadillo Armour for around the base, where the fire is likely to attract the Waraha.
You can only drink from the turtle shell twice if you're already mostly hydrated when you drink it topping off your thirst and allowing you to have a little extra for later.. a nice little double dip on nutrients.. that is if you aren't to parched when you take that first initial sip and drink it all... Jake can be quite the glutton
Clay Pots are still WAY better than the turtle shell. Takes up a LOT less space and still gives two helpings if you fill it with water completely. Weighs less as well.
Ever try killing a fish with an axe? Most people laugh at the idea. This man embraces the challenge. All I ask is you refrain from comparing this to The Long Dark. Snow versus miserable space management in the jungle. I guess tomato, tomoto
i’ve never seen gameplay of this game before and i have to say it’s TRULY bizarre to watch you not only encounter another human, but KILL the man outright. makes me appreciate the loneliness of the long dark LMAO
So nice to see you playing this! I can't believe how lucky you are, spawning near a river. On one playthrough of mine I spawned on top of a mountain and could not find any river, and eventually I died. Edit: For mud walls and ceilings I think you are supposed to harvest mud from the river then dump them near your base to dry, then once dried you can use them for crafting.
Actually to get the recipe for mud bricks all you have to do is get mud from any water source then it'll give you blue prints for the mud mixer which requires campfire ash to mix the mud into bricks once you have that then you can build the mud water filter which is super O.P. and a stilted base with a wall fireplace to get you off the ground and raise your spirits against the sanity eating Amazon jungle..
Nice to see you go about accomplishing so many goals while keeping your health steady. Interesting game - I was a bit shocked at the killing of another human being though - self-defense is valid so I guess it's part of that particular game. Because you play so well Zak, everything becomes a learning experience. Thanks for the time you put into this. Regards to all.
Years ago, when The Long Dark was still in development, I saw this. And I thought that it's one game and you get to choose whether you want to survive in the cold or in the jungle. Then I thought that the developers realized it's too much work at once and did only the winter part to focus on it properly. XD
I’ve circled back to this game recently and was so excited to be reminded that you’d made a video playing it! Always love to have Zak along on my survival adventures ❤
Let's gooo!!! I'm so pumped for this! I hope you enjoy it, it would be awesome to see the same kind of instructional vids of this if you enjoy the game enough to master it like you have with TLD
I don't know how I didn't know that you had played this before, but it makes sense. My slow horror of you quickly killing yourself eating with dirty hands was not something I was used to feeling watching you play TLD haha. I 100% agree, while this is a great game, and has its difficulties from jump scares with jaguars and snakes and spiders and scorpions and caimans and stingrays (I think) and poison frogs...and tribal snipers...it's still not nearly as hard as TLD.
fun to know you also play this game. IMO when compared to TLD, this game is quite vanilla, even in hardest difficulty. Food is more abundant, fire and logging is also easier
This game gets HUGE discounts on switch all the time I might give it a shot next time I see it get marked down. Stranded deep was Garbo so hopefully it’s better than THAT.
Ok, this doesn't seem fair, but I cannot help myself comparing this with The Long Dark. Agree that the environment is poles apart. But I thought in the most difficult setting, GH seemed easier than TLD esp at the very beginning. First 20 mins and a lot of the basic stuff was already sorted. Didn't seem hellish at all. One day in Interloper is an achievement. But ok, GH has different mechanics and gameplay. The only thing I didn't quite like at all are the combat with natives, killing them and harvesting them. That felt weird. If there was a setting to turn them off, I'd play with that. Another thing I felt about GH was that the game (and this is the same with Stranded Deep) feels faster than normal human speed, something TLD manages to do rather well; slowing the pace. Anyway, I'll click Play and continue the video. Zak is always a pleasure to watch (Loved the "Is this food or...?" line. LOL)
Green hell has no atmosphere in comparison to the long dark just a bunch of stuff in front of you that you have to place in different places idk I can't get into it. Edit: I get that all survival games are like based on you moving one thing to another "essentially" but a good survival game ensures I am never worried about doing that because it's enjoyable 😉
@@Zaknafein I've been enjoying playing it. I found your channel when searching for tips on TLD. I really appreciate your content style. You would have a viewer here for sure if you were to do a series on green hell. 😁 Keep up the good work!
@Zaknafein I also forgot to say. I was screaming at you to put a bone in your coconut bowl and make a bone broth. It's a miracle soup in the game and you just kept throwing bones away 😭🤣
Mmmm. Interloper difficulty 5 min in the game and already have hatchet and bow. Only missing the bedroll I’m a big fan of Long Dark but this one feels kid a boring , big fan of yours long dark series but on this one I fell sleep 😴 They forgot the most important element in the jungle that kills you slowly 🦟
Zak, please don't play this game this way. I've enjoyed watching you explain long dark and also occasionally how science works, but this game allows you to simulate being an intruder on indigenous land murdering uncontacted people. Why does this mechanic even exist? The UN "Guidelines on the Protection of Indigenous Peoples in Voluntary Isolation..." state these people are "highly vulnerable and, in most cases, at high risk of extinction." Plus they have a right to be there, we don't. Run away or something, set a good example.

Zak: why am I so slow?
Also Zak: *mmMmh STICKS*
I learned more in this video than I did watching those 17 tutorials yesterday....
the long green
The Dark Green.
Spears are your friends! Wood, stone tipped, tribal, bone. So many to choose from. Watching you chase crabs with a bone axe is priceless though! 😄
*Native Hunter yells and dies after being shot with an arrow*. Zak- "...sorry". haha.
“Nothing implied” is such a dignified way to make a dirty joke

How exciting! Best of luck, Zak!
