It's been almost 1 and a half year since my parents divorced which made my life change. I used to he a very haply kid . after that incident my life turned upside down. When tyb released I fell in love with him. I searched things about him and his music and became a really big fan. This year I was literally suffering from anxiety, social anxiety, depression and other mental disorders. I became suicidal, I self harmed but what kept me alive and strong was music. I don't only listen to Shawn but Shawn was the first artist I got into his music. This song reminds me of everything that's going on in my life and every time I'm in tears. It gives me strength to move on and never give up and I hope that _soon the fog will clear up_ This is so inspiring and I miss this kind of music but still I'm thankful that music exists because it's my recovery and without it everything would be different. When my parents got separated, I listened all the time to this song and related so much to it. Many of my friends said I handled the separation so well, but honestly I would cry my eyes out every night and blame myself for all of it. Even two years later, it still hurts... This song really helped me. When I was nine years old, I used to be bullied a lot, I got used and taken advantage of, my mother said some things to me that mentally hurt me after 5 years still and I used to self harm and considered suicide so many times. One day I was going through TH-cam and found this song and really helped. I still did suffer and cry myself to sleep every night but this song helped me see the light in every darkness. Then we moved to a bigger and nicer house. But we still had economic problems, at the end of 2017 I got to know the music of Shanw. And I just loved it, I listened to it when my parents went to work and I had to take care of my brother. In April 2018, we emigrated again due to xenophobia. We came to Peru, here it was much harder than Ecuador, I had to start over. I was always sad and tearful, and sometimes even music did not calm me down. I cried at night because I did not want my mother to see me. After many months, we achieved a bit of stability. A few days ago Shawn finally gave dates for Latin America. And my parents told me they would take me for a gift of 15 years. I was very happy ... But this morning they said that we would move again. I had to hold my tears. I know it sounds selfish, but in these trips the one that came out harmed was me. And when I finally manage to like it a little here, they say we'll leave. Maybe it's a passing teenage thought, as many adults say. But I would like you to think about me once and if we move, we will have a bad time. If you got here and you did not understand anything. When I was 6, I was diagnosed with depression. That hit me and my family hard. I was bed-written for 3 months. Everyone missed me a lot. I am 14 now. My depression isn't any better. It started when my grandmother passed away when I was 6. I still miss her a lot. This song makes me cry a bunch too. You're not alone! I feel you!!!

As a freshman, I assigned different artists to listen to when I worked on homework for different classes. Shawn's music was designated for geometry. This song brings me right back to all the times I found myself in the midst of a mental breakdown because of triangles at 3 in the morning. I ended the class with an A+ and I honestly owe a lot of that to Mr. Mendes for getting me through.
But has anyone thought of how this song is about himself. Even though he uses 'she' in the lyrics, it seems like he might of just wanted to hide the fact it was about him. So I'm not even sure if it's right but he's only 16 (coming up on 17) and he's insanely busy and popular with girls and his singing career. What if sometimes it does get a little too much for him, he barely gets to see his old friends and be home with his parents or even go to Highschool anymore, I'm sure he misses it. But non the less he's so talented.

I just heard this song I just started crying. I know that this song is old and no one will really see this but I just really felt that I had to leave a comment. When I was younger, about 7-8 years ago I used to listen to Shawn Mendes and I was OBSESSED lol. I would listen to every single song Shawn released and it was all I listened to for years (i wish i was exaggerating lol). I was so young back then and hearing this song now is just flooding me with so much nostalgia. Now I'm 15 years old and I have been struggling with severe anxiety for the past couple of years. Even though I'm still struggling and I've got a lot more to learn about how to manage my anxiety, my younger-self would be so proud of who I am and how strong I have become. This song hits so different now that I'm older and I was not expecting such an emotional response. For anyone who sees this, just know that you deserve love. The things that you are going through do not define you and you will not always feel like this--I promise. Keep going. There's always something to live for.
I became a member of the Mendes Army a year ago in March of 2018 and when my so called "friends" found out, they flipped. They made it seem like a black girl couldn't listen to Shawn Mendes a very talented white man. And I know that I'm throwing those colored words around but that the words that came out of my friend's mouth. And one day it got so bad that I went home and fell asleep and I woke up and remembered what my friends had said. And I got a knife and held to my throat and thought, "this is how I'm gonna die" then my bsf said that this wasn't the way to die. And like an hour later, I was in TH-cam listening to this music video and Shawn Mendes came on. And it was Mercy and Mercy had me in tears when I listened to it because I can relate to it. Then next was this song, and I cried again. And I was basically like fuck the people that didn't think that I could listen to his music. Because he saved my life and without him, I wouldn't be here. That would have been one less person from the Mendes Army and one less person that could support Shawn through everything. And now I listen to his songs everyday and think, his voice is so emotionally powerful that he can put someone in tears or save someone's life. His lyrics actually have meaning to them. Shawn Mendes, thank you for all you do. I love you so freaking much. You are a real true hero and you deserve all the love in the world. There is absolutely no artist like you. I honestly relate to this so much. I’ve been in the Mendes army since September 2017 and I’m a 15 year old guy. When people found out I listen to Shawn Mendes. I was called gay often and was made fun of. I lost a couple friends and it was an awful feeling. Which eventually led me to being depressed. At some points I’d have suicidal thoughts. But Shawn’s songs like “In my blood” and “ A little too much” and some other ones, seriously helped me through my tough times. Shawn’s music is so powerful. He’ll have you dancing and singing your heart out with songs like “There’s nothing holding me back” and “Particular Taste” And next minute he’ll make you an emotional wreck with songs like “Perfectly Wrong” And “In my blood”. I owe it all to Shawn. He inspires me to sing and play guitar, and to just become a musician. It doesn’t matter what anybody says, I will always love Shawn and his music❤️ #MendesArmy

This song is basically written for me. All my friends have family game nights and go out to eat with there families and there parents go on dates. My parents fight all the time. My brother punched me in the face for brushing his hair about a week ago. All my parents talk about it politics. When my sister was born, she had to be rushed to Dartmouth. In the morning, I woke up, but my mom and dad weren't there. Instead, my mom's friend was sleeping on the couch. She only told us the good part of it, but I knew something was wrong because of the touch of sadness in her voice. Later on, we ended up staying at her house for a month, and we barely got to see our parents, but my mom's friend finally told me the full story. I was scared to death, and I still am, because no one knows how to help her, and they keep recommending things that would more likely harm her then help her. Now, she's still going on strong, but I keep breaking down because school has been awful, I feel like I'm useless, and that nobody but my mom cares. Now that I've heard this song, though, I'm going to listen to it whenever I feel like I need some reassurance. Thanks, Shawn. :)

Pls read So about 8 months ago I was in a terrible place. I was being bullied very badly; people would call me horrible names, they would punch me and hit me for fun, they would push me down the stairs and spread terrible rumours about me. I self-harmed multiple times daily, to the extent of sneaking blades into school so that I could cut when I left class. I also developed a minor eating disorder bc I would refuse to eat bc I was scared that if people saw me eating they would call me fat. I was at breaking point. I thought about ending it so many times. it was always on my mind. But then I started listening to Shawn and when I listened it was a like a little bit of light trying to shine through, but when I listened to this song for the first time I felt like someone actually understood. I felt like maybe I could get through this. Today (7 months) after I first heard this song I haven't cut in almost 6 months (that is huge for someone who had been cutting for almost a year) I have moved schools and all my friends are lovely and I have a wonderful boyfriend that helps me through the tough days. Shawn has helped me so much in my life and without him, I probably wouldn't be here today. And to everyone who is struggling, it really does get better you just have to give it time and have patience with yourself. I love you all and thnx for reading al of this, I know it's kinda long.

It's been almost 1 and a half year since my parents divorced which made my life change. I used to he a very haply kid . after that incident my life turned upside down. When tyb released I fell in love with him. I searched things about him and his music and became a really big fan.
This year I was literally suffering from anxiety, social anxiety, depression and other mental disorders. I became suicidal, I self harmed but what kept me alive and strong was music. I don't only listen to Shawn but Shawn was the first artist I got into his music.
This song reminds me of everything that's going on in my life and every time I'm in tears.
It gives me strength to move on and never give up and I hope that _soon the fog will clear up_
This is so inspiring and I miss this kind of music but still I'm thankful that music exists because it's my recovery and without it everything would be different.

When I was nine years old, I used to be bullied a lot, I got used and taken advantage of, my mother said some things to me that mentally hurt me after 5 years still and I used to self harm and considered suicide so many times. One day I was going through TH-cam and found this song and really helped. I still did suffer and cry myself to sleep every night but this song helped me see the light in every darkness. When I was eleven years old, I left my country with my family. We emigrated to Ecuador, when arriving everything was very hard. We stop living in a big house to be in a very small and cold room. Then we moved to a bigger and nicer house. But we still had economic problems, at the end of 2017 I got to know the music of Shanw. And I just loved it, I listened to it when my parents went to work and I had to take care of my brother. In April 2018, we emigrated again due to xenophobia. We came to Peru, here it was much harder than Ecuador, I had to start over. I was always sad and tearful, and sometimes even music did not calm me down. I cried at night because I did not want my mother to see me. After many months, we achieved a bit of stability. A few days ago Shawn finally gave dates for Latin America. And my parents told me they would take me for a gift of 15 years. I was very happy ... But this morning they said that we would move again. I had to hold my tears. I know it sounds selfish, but in these trips the one that came out harmed was me. And when I finally manage to like it a little here, they say we'll leave. Maybe it's a passing teenage thought, as many adults say. But I would like you to think about me once and if we move, we will have a bad time. If you got here and you did not understand anything. it’s been many, many years since i was a hardcore shawn mendes fan and my music taste has changed drastically- but his 2015 album will always hold a special place in my heart. it reminds me of a time when i was genuinely and effortlessly happy, when i was unapologetically myself and held my head up high. i know i’ll get there again someday, but it’s been really hard recently and hearing this immediately made me burst into tears.
When I was 6, I was diagnosed with depression. That hit me and my family hard. I was bed-written for 3 months. Everyone missed me a lot. I am 14 now. My depression isn't any better. It started when my grandmother passed away when I was 6. I still miss her a lot. This song makes me cry a bunch too. You're not alone! I feel you!!!

I just heard this song I just started crying. I know that this song is old and no one will really see this but I just really felt that I had to leave a comment. When I was younger, about 7-8 years ago I used to listen to Shawn Mendes and I was OBSESSED lol. I would listen to every single song Shawn released and it was all I listened to for years (i wish i was exaggerating lol). I was so young back then and hearing this song now is just flooding me with so much nostalgia. Now I'm 15 years old and I have been struggling with severe anxiety for the past couple of years. Even though I'm still struggling and I've got a lot more to learn about how to manage my anxiety, my younger-self would be so proud of who I am and how strong I have become. This song hits so different now that I'm older and I was not expecting such an emotional response. For anyone who sees this, just know that you deserve love. And like an hour later, I was in TH-cam listening to this music video and Shawn Mendes came on. And it was Mercy and Mercy had me in tears when I listened to it because I can relate to it. Then next was this song, and I cried again. And I was basically like fuck the people that didn't think that I could listen to his music. Because he saved my life and without him, I wouldn't be here. That would have been one less person from the Mendes Army and one less person that could support Shawn through everything. And now I listen to his songs everyday and think, his voice is so emotionally powerful that he can put someone in tears or save someone's life. His lyrics actually have meaning to them. Shawn Mendes, thank you for all you do. I love you so freaking much. You are a real true hero and you deserve all the love in the world. There is absolutely no artist like you. Keep doing what you doing. And know that I will always be a part of the Mendes Army.
I honestly relate to this so much. I’ve been in the Mendes army since September 2017 and I’m a 15 year old guy. When people found out I listen to Shawn Mendes. I was called gay often and was made fun of. I lost a couple friends and it was an awful feeling. Which eventually led me to being depressed. At some points I’d have suicidal thoughts. But Shawn’s songs like “In my blood” and “ A little too much” and some other ones, seriously helped me through my tough times. Shawn’s music is so powerful. He’ll have you dancing and singing your heart out with songs like “There’s nothing holding me back” and “Particular Taste” And next minute he’ll make you an emotional wreck with songs like “Perfectly Wrong” And “In my blood”. I owe it all to Shawn. He inspires me to sing and play guitar, and to just become a musician. It doesn’t matter what anybody says, I will always love Shawn and his music❤️ #MendesArmy

My brother punched me in the face for brushing his hair about a week ago. All my parents talk about it politics. The last time I went out to eat with my family was over a year ago. 😔 I love them all so much but sometimes it gets a little to much.

When my sister was born, she had to be rushed to Dartmouth. In the morning, I woke up, but my mom and dad weren't there. Instead, my mom's friend was sleeping on the couch. She only told us the good part of it, but I knew something was wrong because of the touch of sadness in her voice. Later on, we ended up staying at her house for a month, and we barely got to see our parents, but my mom's friend finally told me the full story. I was scared to death, and I still am, because no one knows how to help her, and they keep recommending things that would more likely harm her then help her. Now, she's still going on strong, but I keep breaking down because school has been awful, I feel like I'm useless, and that nobody but my mom cares. Now that I've heard this song, though, I'm going to listen to it whenever I feel like I need some reassurance. Thanks, Shawn. :)

So about 8 months ago I was in a terrible place. I was being bullied very badly; people would call me horrible names, they would punch me and hit me for fun, they would push me down the stairs and spread terrible rumours about me. I self-harmed multiple times daily, to the extent of sneaking blades into school so that I could cut when I left class. I also developed a minor eating disorder bc I would refuse to eat bc I was scared that if people saw me eating they would call me fat. I was at breaking point. I thought about ending it so many times. it was always on my mind.
But then I started listening to Shawn and when I listened it was a like a little bit of light trying to shine through, but when I listened to this song for the first time I felt like someone actually understood. I felt like maybe I could get through this.
Today (7 months) after I first heard this song I haven't cut in almost 6 months (that is huge for someone who had been cutting for almost a year) I have moved schools and all my friends are lovely and I have a wonderful boyfriend that helps me through the tough days.
Shawn has helped me so much in my life and without him, I probably wouldn't be here today. And to everyone who is struggling, it really does get better you just have to give it time and have patience with yourself.
