      Hey wraith 222. Much appreciate you taking time to comment. From your comment, safe to guess that you mean "someone is doing Vanlife in a Travato?", and not a self-converted Sprinter van?!. If that is what you mean then, yeah I was worried I couldn't do "Vanlife" if I had a shower, a sound system, and a powered awning - and no man-bun. LOL. Thanks for being a viewer :)

      Hey PBH.. Good to know that I'm helping you make adjustments to your next chapter. Nearly everywhere I go people and RVers look at Lily (my Travato) and state "I wish" and have many reason why they can't do a Class B.... dogs, storage (too much stuff), spouse, and grandkids. My advice is to do what is best for your current, and more importnatnly, future RV lifestyle

    Really love the walk-us-through-it style. Your excitement is very contagious. Wondering about your fridge lay out. Can't tell without being there, but is it possible to put your wire shelf above the thermostat and therefore give yourself room to stand your gallon jugs upright? I would worry about leakage on their sides. Looks like the stuff on the shelf would mostly still fit on it. Or alternately pull the wire shelf and lower the upper solid shelf to place things on.

    • @gosmall.livelarge
      @gosmall.livelarge  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Ryan. Great ideas on the fridge. I haven't found the fridge shelving to be adjustable. However, the space is quite large and I two 1 gallon water jugs lay on their side without leaking. I'm currently urban camping in my parents driveway; my mom found the fridge and freezer to be very large and very functional - and that is from my Chef Mom!

    I love the Travato GL layout, so I am happy to be following your journey. I really like your videos! You may want to put a towel or rubber mat on top of your kitchen counter area while preparing food, etc. to protect the glass cover to your 2 burners.

    Good job. Looks comfy. I'm glad you put the bed up. I can't stand looking at permanent beds setups in campervans. It's just too claustophobic for me. Put all your medication in a slim container to maintain better organization. I love that jump seat. Switch out the water bottle in the refrigerator for slim container with the front spot. It should fit. I'd measure it. What are you using for front shade privacy for the windshield and the front door windows? I'm so excited for your new setup.

      Great advice AP. I will be doing a video on my bathroom set up. I really really like the big separate bath. I optioned my Travato GL with the front windshield blind system. BEST $250 bucks I spent all year. Privacy and light shielding in about 15 seconds., Combined with the side window pop-in shades the cab is secure and blacked out.

    Yea! Nalgene makes a 64 ounce skinnny rectangular container that is great for water OJ milk etc. It will likely fit in the door where the beer is presently. They would also stand like a book in your shelves potentially. Amazon has them. They fit in my small domestic fridge. Also round Nalgene bottles may fit in the door also. I can put 2 rectangular and one round or 1 rectangular and 3 rounds. Efficient use of space. Never had the nalgenes leak either laying down or standing if tightened properly

      Go Small. Live Large! Vanlife in a Travato so jealous of your new van life. Not sure why it appeals to me so much. I live in 4500 sq feet and I’m dying to down size to a smaller space. • @gosmall.livelarge
      @gosmall.livelarge  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Z Z , a little of everything you mention. Fortunately , Am able to keep my full-time job and work from the road as a digital nomad. Full me in particular the idea of off loading the big overhead of a house and the house really being a big storage unit was fundamental to moving into vanlife. While we still have a home base, now located in FL, we are offloading the expense by doing Airbnb on a pastime basis. We found the exercise of downsizing and ridding of extra stuff to be very liberating, especially for me. You might read the book Minimalism by The Minimalists. It really opened my eyes to setting priorities. That new mindset allowed my to find the freedoms of #RV lifestyle and vanlife in my Travato to explore. Happy to be a tiny part of your journey.

    TH-cam tip: if you have a camera with a flippy-outty screen, use it to frame your shot, then fold it away... It's too tempting to keep looking at yourself while recording. It looks to the viewer like you're looking over their shoulder.
    You may also want to look into locking exposure - so that light from the windows doesn't make what you're trying to show get really dark. Lighting is tricky in a situation like a van or a camper!
    Other than that, I'm interested... I may try to get the same van in a few years. Love the Travato 59GL.

      Cool! I haven't watched all of your videos yet, but it's very helpful getting to see how you use the van. My plan is to do the same thing for parts of the year - I do IT work, and I can work remotely, so I like seeing how people do that in their vans. The 59GL is at the top of my list. The 59KL is also up there. I also fly a paramotor, so the rear 'garage' area would be super useful for transporting my motor and stuff.

      Scott.. Given you have had your GL for a year... did you ever research and follow through on a security system for your Van -- Ring/Blink and other such cloud based security camera and motion detection type system are popular these days...........if the van could have an always on internet hotspot -- these system might work -- but not such how the would adapt to mobile internet via cellular... I testing the latest from Blink in my apartment now and will test if they can work from cellular hotspots in the future. I just have not found vids on youtude that are really showing this scenario fully tested. Some of the dashcam products like a thinkware U1000 are also cloud connected have motion - g force surveillance modes -- but most are what they see out the front window.. anyway thanks for all the vids.. hope to get 2021.5 version GL in the not to distant future -- your channel and a few others have convinced me this unit will work for me

    Thank you soo much for sharing your experience. I was looking for someone who was exactly living in the Travato day to day. My wife and I test drove one just this weekend and for the price it was first on our list. Have you heard any concerns with the power train or transmission? One thing I dont like is no spare tire, I researched a company that makes a spare tire assembly off the rear bumper but its 1k installed, I think having a spare is crucial.

      Hey Mr. Bloom. Having no traditional spare tire is a concern for me as well. But with two roadside assistance service from Coach-net (through your Winnebago purchase) I think I would be covered if the tire seal inflation kit doesn't work.

    • @gosmall.livelarge
      @gosmall.livelarge  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      TominFTL, great questions. Here are your answers:
      - Winnebago say the dinette breakdown into a "sleeping surface" for up to two people. I haven't converted my lounge into a bed yet (my bed is in the back bedroom), but it looks like it can accommodate two small people that like each other's company. Probably more practical for one adult or two kids. Watch for an upcoming video about the convertible lounge.

    What mpg are you averaging?
    Looks like you are very pleased with your purchase.👏🏼👏🏼

      Bev N, great questions! Thanks for asking them. :)
      - Galley window: in my Travato GL the galley windows actually does open. Being awning-style that would be in the way of the sliding door. Prior to receiving my Travato GL I was going off an earlier 2019 model and a couple of TH-cam channel stating the galley window didn't' open. I poo-pooed the Hymer Activ for having a window that opened and could be sheered of by the door. Turns out mine galley window has the same issue. I love the fresh air it brings in, but really need to remember to close the window before opening the sliding door.,
      - MPG, I'm getting about 12-15 currently in a mix of city and very mountainous freeway driving. Pretty good overall, and about the same as my two passenger cars (that have big high performance engines).
      - Super please with my Travato GL. She is a convo starter wherever I park her.

      Perfect for one cozy for two. Perfect for two that get along really well. Adding a pet? Not sure people do that with two. But yes where there is a will there is a way

      Hey AP, yes the kitchen sink has a built in water purifying filter. I also put a filter on the hose at my water source., Who like water bugs, right?! Thanks for the question and for watching my videos.

    As much as I like this it’s def a 1 person unit, need at least a 23” class c for me and the wife, the storage alone would be an issue, try talking her into less that 40 outfits...

      Yeah CD. It’s a space thing, Costco doesn’t sell better instant, and I’m not a big coffee connoisseur. prefer diner style coffee ☕️actually. I know I know, yuck. I enjoy Miller Lite 🍺 too. Simple guy I guess Appreciate the comment and for watching. Do you have a favorite coffee?
