Keep in mind with the scalp cooling, you’ll have additional time added to treatment. There are 3 phases to the cooling: phase 1 is 30 minutes before chemo, phase 2 the duration of chemo, then phase 3 is 60-90 minutes depending on which medications are used.
The ports are also really great because some chemo can be very irritating to veins both in the short term during the infusion (burning/aching) but also can cause long term sclerosing which makes future IV access challenging.

Hey Kristian! I tried the scalp cooling and it was AWFUL.... I will record a video detailing my experience eventually, but long-story-short, I decided that my hair wasn't worth the pain of the scalp cooling. I'll grow it back later, it's fine! Now I'm rocking the bald head and (aside from my head being cold all the time) I'm doing okay. :-)

@@janaecherie that's a very common experience. I definitely couldn't do it. Proud of you for rocking your new look. Attitude is so important during treatment. You've got this!

Janie, I just found your channel and have watched all.
I too had a dbl around the same time as you. Mine is triple negative ( I had to research due to not alote of cases).
I will pray for your recovery and that your chemotherapy clears you and this will be a journey that you can share with your children and grandchildren 🌸😘
There are some really nice wigs available if you feel the need.
    Much love🙏🌸

Thanks so much! I am currently going through chemo and admittedly have not had even the slightest bit of energy to record and upload videos. I feel terrible neglecting the channel, but it's been hard to prioritize. That being said, I will try to upload some more videos soon to keep everyone updated!

@@janaecherie my sister is having surgery on Thursday for a double mastectomy. Your TH-cam helps me understand what she might be feeling including the fears and also stating the facts. You are awesome for opening up like this to other women. Thank you so much. I’m wishing you a speedy recovery. Shirley x
