Hi simmers its Pilot 83 here with some solutions to help get rid of those dreadful black screens and ctds we all experience on Xbox MSFS 2020. These are some things I personally do that help a good bit against black screens and ctds. Keep in mind though the sim is different for everybody and we all have different fixes but these are some that overall will help. Let me know if these help you on Xbox MSFS2020!

I play full realistic on the pmdg and it is so annoying to type everything into the fmc get half way through the preflighf checks and it black screens
@Pilot0083 Yes, it is on Xbox, I've contacted Asobo support and looked up the reason. Somebody said it could be a hotfix bug. I've tried everything, but it only really happens on Cold and Dark on the Ryanair Skin

For me, the displays switch off even on short flights. For example, Berlin - Zurich. In the meantime, I no longer have any world updates and no other air traffic on it, but I still have problems. Photogrammetry is also switched off. I communicated with Microsoft by email for almost 3 weeks and tried everything they advised me to do. Nothing works. MSFS should never have been permitted to come out for the xbox series s if it doesn't work properly.
Hello, I use an Xbox série X from France and like you my PFD Garmin 1000 disconnected during the Fly in IFR. I tried everythings. Still doesnt working. I spent a lot of Time .... An update perhaps. I m very sad
@@farosteph3468 Im sad too. I can recommend you to reinstall the game without installing map updates. I also found out to delete the rolling cache in general options under data at the bottom, save and then enter 32 GB and save again. Takes about 2 minutes. I recommend doing this every time you start MSFS. It helped me... Also switch off photogrammetry....

Great tips thankyou, one thing that i found too was i reviewed my scenery add ons and any airports with well over 1gb i removed just to see any difference. It worked well, i then noticed that some devs produce the same airports with less data which to be honest is more suited for the x box. This has made a huge difference. Ill certainly use some of those tips, thankyou 👍
I have one airport over 1 gb so I need to remove it bc every flight I have black screens

hi! great video! im on xbox series s and i find that especially at add on airports, having the rolling cache turned off significantly improves the simulator. just thought id let everyone know so they can try it :)

Hello Pilot, I barely have black screens, since my airports aren’t payware it helps a lot. But I have a question, since latest sim update I have a problem I never had before: I plan my flights on the world map, sometimes ifr and sometimes gps direct, and when I launch the flight, the flight plan randomly follow on my fms. 1 out of 2 times I have no flight plan in the plane, and it happens with lot of planes, I already had it with a Kodiak 100 or a Skymaster. Does it happened to you too?
Thanks for the help. What helps me is if I end my game. Exit the game don't just turn off the console and do a quick resume. I find that fully exit and restart the game helps me on the xbox as well.

Great video! This is mu current answer to no CTD or black avionic screens (I mainly fly pdmg 737 on xbox X); Don't fly to/from high quality airport addons. If I fly from/to default airports then no issues at all. I have all the world updates and the LVFR static aircraft installed. I even have the high quality airports installed I just don't go to these airports. So I don't think it's necessary to uninstall world updates or airport addons. Just avoid them until this issue is fixed by asobo. Note: using rolling cache or not doesn't change this
@@Pilot0083 also worth mentioning; one thing is that not all airport Addons are that heavy for memory and therefor cause the black avionic screens. Pyreegue already confirmed to optimise their airports in memory usage. I myself have never problems with default airports but also have LFBO from flightbeam and that add-on also doesn't give any problems.
Airports from inibuilds or NZA simulations give me a 100% black out.
Love you pilot! These are topics I’ve told people about for almost 2 years. When you use FMFS on the Xbox you should totally treat it like you are on pc. The only thing I do differently is the rolling cache which I keep at 150 go. Haven’t had a ctd since I changed over from 32gb to 150
@@Pilot0083 Ive tested this earlier too but still got black avionics when going to airports like KLAX (inibuilds) or NZWN (nza simulations). This issue has something to do with memory not storage.

Seems like if your deleting cache daily then your not really using it so turning it off would be same as daily deleting. Another thing about ctd is at custom airports in drone mode u can move around at max speed an make the xbox crash just like when your landing. This can happen at the airports that cause the most crashes. The ctd happens with fast jets coming into custom airports. I been doing tons of testing. I did find improvement by turning off hdr on xbox as my tv does hdr
I’ve been using the inibuilds A320V2 since it got released, and I tried yesterday to fly from Gatwick (payware). I did all my preflight stuff, put in the flight plan, etc, and then once I began pushback and engine start, I got black screens on every display and on the efb. Can you help? I’m on Xbox btw. The issue is only at Gatwick as well

Some good tips there. I also turn off multiplayer on long flights i.e Airlines. Never get problems with 737. Im gonna delete a couple of world updates like the arctic ones. Never fly there
I have a question. If you don’t install any of the world updates on Xbox do you not get the bug fixes that came with those updates? If the sim is updated to the latest Xbox version, does it include all the bug fixes to the latest version? I’m doing what you suggest and only using world updates where I’m flying.
Well here’s the thing . There are little fixes in the world updates …but they are so heavy they break the sim more . So it’s kinda damn if you do and damn if you don’t
@@Pilot0083 thanks. Actually your advice has been the most valuable. Especially on turning down the refresh rate on the Xbox and letting the tv upscale to 4K. I’m now dealing with the sim disconnecting from the server. I’d appreciate any insight on that. I have very good internet at about 800 gigs. But the sim says it’s disconnected.

@@Pilot0083 that actualy makes sense i taught i was losing my mind because before the plane got updated i had this plane mastered so i knew its not something im doing have tried everything but know look about 10 mins in all avionics go black but my engines and gps inal is still running so maybe your right thank you
I have every World Update installed, all live features enabled (except multiplayer) and I don't use rolling cache. I don't experience CTDs at all. I think it all comes down to how much custom scenery you have installed, because those may not be properly optimized. I only have very few custom airports so that may be the deciding factor.
I turned off AI traffic and haven’t had a CTD in nearly 2 weeks
I play on xbox series s and had no problems whatsoever even with world updates installed. But today i decided to pay 19,99€ for Hamburg Airport and suddenly i get lags and crashes. But the most annoying part is that my avionics keep shutting off😢
Hello, I just did a test to uninstall everything, the game, the addons and the cache. And the crash ctd black screens are back. As soon as you enter the plane, the black screen. It means that the fault is the game, they have to optimize and fix it. The problem is from Microsoft, which releases a new game in 2024 and 2020 is not even stable, I hope the information is useful to you
@@Pilot0083 I never install them because I have an s series. I repeat, I installed the base game and used default planes, the problems continue. I bought several add on Airport to do nothing but cause CTD anybody know how to get your money back would it be through Microsoft? I have message some of the developers and they said that I would probably have to go through Microsoft and they could not give me a refund.

@@Pilot0083 it helped up until the point I started moving the aircraft. Then the shuttering came back. Hass to be a plane issue. I’m flying the F15c right now no issues.

Last World Update definitely adds issues!
Now on Xbox Serie X assistant option all on EASY, restart and again😏
I deleted the World Updates and it broke my Sim completely. Couldn't even get past the loading screen, so had to completely reinstall all add-ons.
However, I've removed ALL 3rd party sceneries except for ones that I can't live without. It's been better. I have LVFR Static Traffic and turned off AI Live Traffic.
Did a 45 minute flight from LVFR San Diego to LAX *with* Flow reinstalled. No issues, so far. 🤘
This is even effecting me in the a320 Neo and gripen 39
Will these help with the Cirrus Vision Jet?
It seems to work I tried with default scenery and deinstalled all the extra scenery update not needed for my flight
Finally was able to fly the Vision Jet but on short approach after an hour flight the screen went dark but I was able to land.
I still keep spawning in with black screens every flight help?

Try put the cache limite to 16GB and go to settings and reset everything, it works
Mines been running really bad since last two updates.. play 15 mins. Crash on load. 30 mins to reload. Spent alota money on this hobbie. Ugg.
Good advice but bottom line I dumped Xbox to go to PC and let me tell you what a world of difference does it make for the sim. Of course I had to spend 3300 dollars to make it happen but I don’t regret it. I have the flytampa Las Vegas airport, Henderson airport and Nellis airport all installed and have flown the pmdg 737 all around that area with zero issues. Unfortunately this game requires powerful equipment to play and that’s why Xbox is garbage. That’s the bottom line and I will never go back to console for flight sim ever again.
Yeah well.. not all of us can afford to just buy a powerful enough to run MSFS gaming pc and graphics card (could be up to £1700 a decent system.) you said yourself you spent $3,300 on yours, that’s a new car for some people or 2 months rent, if you’re spending that just to play a GAME a bit faster with slightly higher frame rate then you are absolutely mental.
And the on the MSFS PC player community as a whole:
I’ve never known a sub community of gamers connected to any game that are as toxic, self centred, show offy, and egotistical as MSFS pc gamers. In All the Facebook Groups us console peasants are treated like crap by you people because we play console, considered dumb and treated as such if we don’t know all the correct terminology word for word because PC players are all wannabes who believe they could actually fly a commercial jet. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t know you beyond the comment I’m replying to and my reply beyond the first paragraph isn’t directed at you personally, but this is the impression I’ve gotten from these people. I remember once I commented on a post on one of the groups “I don’t have the financial means to just drop thousands on making my gaming experience 10-15% better and you shouldn’t be encouraging other naïve people to do so either.” And I was laughed at, insulted and given a first hand experience of how it must feel to be on the bottom rung of the caste system in India!
Just bear in mind in future that there’s a financial shit-hit-the-fan cost of living crisis in Britain at the moment and during something like that, the one thing people should not be aiming to save their money for is a GAME.
I had bought the Fiumicino airport and with the A320 and I have always had this problem when I leave there or stay nearby, and if I leave with another plane from there the game crashes. then as soon as I remove the Fiumicino add-on everything is normal and I can play as before. This is the first airport I bought and I wanted to ask if it does this with all airports. in any case I hope I can use it or that they fix this problem because it is my favorite airport and I hope I didn't waste €19, then the airport is beautiful, but the game is unplayable like this.
