    But where are they originally from? Those places aren't environments for building informal homes. Infrastructure is important. They should never have built there. Sorry not sorry. You can't make poor choices and then expect others to help you when it inevitably fails. People have been warning about these informal settlements for decades and every year it's the same thing. Insanity. Literally.

Even though they are foreigners coming here was the only option to survive. I feel bad that they have to go through this bad situation. I pray every government takes care of its citizens so they don't have to move to a foreign country and build shacks in waterlogged areas. Shame on the government of these foreigners.

    Why do you think people did not build there in the past?

  • @Sq7Arno
    @Sq7Arno หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    These people have it tough, but this is often the nature of informal settlement. No planning. People put a shack up, without clearance, in places where otherwise nothing would be built. No surveyors. No stormwater drains. No electricity. No running water. No roads even. Somebody carried bits of building material, and built a shack in a field, without any consultation, and then claimed squatting rights. At least half the informal settlements around Cape Town sprung up exactly in low lying areas that were considered too flood prone. And which with global warming will eventually even in parts be underwater, but unlivable long before that. It can be no other way. Who thought it was a great idea to build rickety shacks, building codes be damned, on flood plains? Who was so clever?
