ATTN VIDEO EXPLAINED: from the director, Gavin Bowden "the room where the man who watches over the lard is stationed.. to me, the lard represented very basic human sexual desires, totally powerful desires and passions, the sexual human animal…But these are not passions that can exist all the time because they will destroy you. And, if you boiled down a human, you would get this white, viscous thing, but because that thing can’t exist, it is stored away by the curator of the lard. The people in the video have to go to him to get the lard so they can go through their physical passions. They have to get in line and take a number. The lard man is not necessarily our friend." (In reference to the pool)" I liked the idea of them standing on top of this kidney, this basic human organ that filters out our urine and waste and then, underneath it, is a swimming pool which has been used in so many corny R&B videos where people are having sex in pools. I’ve never done that, I don’t know who has. It’s sort of absurd that they find this swimming pool and it’s empty, which sort of speaks for itself. By the time these people find that moment where they can exist freely with their passions, maybe it’s too late, the pool is empty. She is the energy radiating from the 3rd chakra sometimes depicted maddened with passion, her chest covered in human grease and blood dripping from chunks of flesh in her hands. This is the one song that convinced to buy some good speakers. It was about twenty years ago. Live deserves the best. My Mom loves Live. They are easily underrated, but loved by all.
Jonas Butler yeah, but only up to 1997, pretty much just dogshit after that. Three excellent LP's then mostly forgettable sludge. The downward spiral....what a shame
um, 3:50-end of song....so intense i get freaking goosebumps...every band member just crushing their instruments and losing themselves in the crescendo. where the hell is that kind of intensity today??
I remember one day we asked our music teacher to turn the local rock station on and this song came on. The poor woman literally cringed at the tune of the guitar. That basically solidified I was a child of the 90's. Still love Mrs. P though...she was awesome.
Mental Jewelry - Pure uninterrupted spiritual musical talent from 4 young kids in York, Pennsylvania. Unpolished, but full of soul, it was the start of something big for the 90's. Throwing Copper - A gift from the Heavens (Higher spiritual realms) brought through the 4 human vessels of +Live+. This album was a direct gift for humanity with 'Lightning Crashes' being the pinnacle telling the story of re-incarnation as the cycle continues with no end. This album as a whole was a masterpiece brought from the higher spiritual realms. One of the best albums ever produced... EVER. Secret Samadhi - A dark album, with a dark theme. This album was a rebuttal to 'Throwing Copper' and is not really of the 'Light' as the previous 2 albums were. I believe there were some external forces of a 'dark' nature that influenced this album. Nevertheless it's still a GREAT album and actually the most COMPLETE +Live+ album to date from start to finish. Every song just fits perfectly in a complete package. The production on this album was one of their best, with everything from Drums to guitar so crisp and clean. The Distance To Here - Out of the darkness of 'Secret Samadhi' into the pure LIGHT of 'Distance to Here'. This album is of pure light, with every song having some spiritual meaning returning back to Source, Creator, God, Light, Love. One of the best songs on this album, "We walk in the dream" is actually one of the most underrated but sends the pure message that there is something more to this Human existence we live in (hinting to the spiritual realms). This album completes +Live's+ 90's dominance with such depth and meaning. After the 90's the band +Live+ did lose their way in their songwriting/producing abilities but their time was definitely the 90's. It was their time, and people listened.
Ed kind of reminds me of Maynard James Keenan. They both have those kind of one of a kind voice that can honestly sing anything. And their lyrics are so cryptic sometimes. The musics different but the versatility and range are right there!
Jay Deleon except that Keenan's work has remained consistently good right the way through, whereas with Ed, Live went rapidly downhill after Secret Samadhi. The writing and music lost all of its balls and punch, favouring blandness and banality. Imagine how it could have been?
My favorite Live song. I was a weekend DJ at WCCC in Hartford, CT when this came out and I remember we had an early copy of the song. It was on a little DAT cassette and they hooked a DAT player to the soundboard so we could play it. I remember the first time hearing it was when I played it live on the air. The riff pulled me in instantly. Bad-Ass riff indeed.
Man, the good days when music was good, no great and you had to actually have NATURAL BORN TALENT and singers had to be able to actually sing and could actually sing to get anywhere in the music industry.
These guys were easily one of the best bands of the 90's...really underrated if anything. Every album was a masterpiece...every song amazing. 'Throwing Copper' was their best album, however, 'Secret Samadhi' was almost as good, and yet it didn't get the same respect. By then the media hype, and music press weren't as hot on the band as they had been just a few years earlier...which is a shame, as Live continued to produce great albums. I bought 'Secret Samadhi' in 1997 when it came out, and love it as much today as then. This track 'Lakini's Juice' remains one of my alltime fav Live tracks...incredibly powerful song. Incredibly powerful band.
After the 70's, the 90's are my favorite decade. It was all about being different, be it on music, cartoons, wardrobe, you name it. So many phenomenal bands rose to fame at those times.
I remember being drunk in my car, and there were a couple song's that were played in a row. This was one of them, and I was so captivated. We'll done LIVE!!!!
Heard this song one time as a kid and never knew the name of it or the band but the riff has been stuck in my head for 15 plus years. Finally came across it and instantly knew it was that riff I heard many years ago. Been jammin to it ever since.
Live has always been a thinking persons type of band. The way the music and lyrics are laid out are very artistic and intelligently arranged. One of my favorite bands from the 90's
Being flesh and blood is the best thing God ever created. This song came out the year I graduated high school. I am emotionally triggered Everytime I hear it. Let me rise!
Live is one of the most underrated and artistic bands in history.
Saw them 7 times couldn't agree more.
I think Throwing Copper might've been the first album I ever bought.

It really doesn't exist anymore, such a shame
Musicians play Apple computers now.
Gone with compression
Best song on the album... and truly one of the most underrated bands of the 90's
0:53 "Mellow Rock Music"
I'll have you know that 'mellow rock music' shaped my Goddamn life, thank you very much.
I remember one day we asked our music teacher to turn the local rock station on and this song came on. The poor woman literally cringed at the tune of the guitar. That basically solidified I was a child of the 90's. Still love Mrs. P though...she was awesome.
Haven't heard this song in a decade. Hard to believe it's been almost twenty since it came out. Lots of good memories connected to their albums.
Such a bad ass fucking song. Even still, to this day.
I actually just discovered this, I love live, so how come I never knew about this song? Lol
@@ww2guy782 classic masterpiece i was 16 in grade 11
@Sidog K lol🤣
I've probably listened to this song 20 times in 2 days I never get tired of it. Absolute masterpiece of a song.
Listen to their catalog instead. lmao
Wow Ive known this song since the 90s but never saw the video. Pretty epic!
Imagine how it could have been?
respect 4u
@@andrewlockett5125 eh....I'd argue that the very latest tool album wasn't nearly as powerful or remembered as 10000 days and prior
I LOVE this song, it takes me back. Where has all the good music gone today? lol
You have to look harder
Check out Baroness for a start, if you like this song
My favorite Live song. I was a weekend DJ at WCCC in Hartford, CT when this came out and I remember we had an early copy of the song. It was on a little DAT cassette and they hooked a DAT player to the soundboard so we could play it. I remember the first time hearing it was when I played it live on the air. The riff pulled me in instantly. Bad-Ass riff indeed.
Rip WCCC. Will always be missed
WCCC! Too bad CT went down the drain.
Weren't you at i95 for awhile too?
I miss WCCC. I didn't move to Connecticut until fall of 97 so I'm not sure if I ever heard you on air. Great memory tho!
It’s 2024 and I just saw them with STP. This song hit so hard live.
Just saw them with STP and Soul Asylum this past weekend
So glad I rediscovered these guys. Man the 90s were badass.
Saw them in concert August of 97 . Amazing song!
Me too, absolute highlight
This song, and especially the gritty bass guitar tone driving it, is a masterpiece.
The guitars, the vocals, the video, this was a masterpiece.
2019 being a bass player. That bass tone is sick!! I love this song. I always will love this band!
Yes! It's fucking awesome
Hands down top 5 LIVE songs of all time!
Just love the start of this song! BRILLIANT!!!
That dragging bassline through the verses *Chefs Kiss*
absolute masterpiece! few songs have this kind of honesty in the songwriting and the overall vibe! gooosebumps since 1997!!
Since 1997. This is my greatest song of all time. Can confirm it's 2019 right now.
my favorite Live song
Edward k one of great Rock stars of All Time.
Too bad he turned out to be a big douche to his band mates
+obglobgablob apparently he asked for a lead singer bonus to play a festival in Holland
I'm not sure about all time but one hell of a good vocalists and intense
+Eddie Miller Yep.
arcticmonkey3 That maybe but he returned to Live in 2016.
To this day I still haven’t heard a song like this. Nothing else makes me think of this song or the feelings it brings out
After the 70's, the 90's are my favorite decade. It was all about being different, be it on music, cartoons, wardrobe, you name it. So many phenomenal bands rose to fame at those times.
They played this at Ithaca, NY and shook the building. Rocked my soul!
I saw Live last Sunday. I went insane for them. This video is amazing. This song rocks too hard!!! OMG!!!
I still have most of their early albums. Can't believe I appreciated such awesome music at 13...they are definitely underrated.
I remember being drunk in my car, and there were a couple song's that were played in a row. This was one of them, and I was so captivated. We'll done LIVE!!!!
This is the most real song out there. I've been dancing with the shadows all my life.
Heard this song one time as a kid and never knew the name of it or the band but the riff has been stuck in my head for 15 plus years. Finally came across it and instantly knew it was that riff I heard many years ago. Been jammin to it ever since.
Live es una de esas bandas que no ocupan el lugar que merecen, y no tienen el reconocimiento que les corresponde. Enorme disco.
So much of this is lost on phone speakers. On a good stereo system, it can shake your insides in the best way possible.
Let me riiiiide.

This was one of the most powerful songs of the 90’s & still punches your face.
Saw them in ‘97 at the Warfield in SF … great show.
It's 2023 and this song has been shredding for 13 years!
26 years!
Secret Samadi.... one of the best albums!
Can confirm: It’s 2021 and this song still goes hard af.
So super fxckin hard!! I heard it and was like OH SHIT!! I forgot about this one!!! How many fxckin SMASH SINGLES did this band have!?!!
Raw af Still
Absolutely-Fkin A!!
Thanks for confirmation. Here's some affirmation.
The original comment from 2 years ago was better.
Live has always been a thinking persons type of band. The way the music and lyrics are laid out are very artistic and intelligently arranged. One of my favorite bands from the 90's
awesome post....so true. these guys are something special
One of my personal favorites of all time. Secret Samadhi is great.
Agreed! Live and this song were one of my favorite pre band practice warm ups for vocals.
Let's go leafs
Just heard this song for the first time on the radio❤❤❤
LIVE is the greatest band of the 90's and it's not even close.
One of the best songs ever made, one of the greatest voices to grace this earth. Still gives me goosebumps all these years later.
Oh my gosh the crunchy bass guitar, the thundering drum's, the awesomeness guitar riffs & that voice gives me goosebumps
Best track by Live hands down. The iconic guitar in the beginning and end are both absolutely kick ass.
2023 and its even harder.
This is lyrical wise at the height of a generation. Tool level. Just super dirty into the angst. This video just drips 90s.
Being flesh and blood is the best thing God ever created. This song came out the year I graduated high school. I am emotionally triggered Everytime I hear it. Let me rise!
I forgot about this song and it came on Lithium Channel 34 on XM over the weekend. Speakers as loud as they could go. Such a phenomenal song.
