WOW. I'm amazed & impressed by his bravery, but that goes for all martyrs- what really astonished me was the level of his defiance of the Church! I can't imagine how shocking it would've been at the time- he really went out fighting! It's also brilliant to see stuff on this era- there's sooo much on the Tudors, & I get that it's the amount of sources as well as popularity, but the Plantagenets, the Wars of the Roses & the 100yrs War are fascinating, & what I want to learn about rn. Excellent!
What a courageous and heroic figure! It makes me wonder what he might've accomplished had he chosen to go into exile rather than allow himself to be dragged into ecclesiastical court.
I think I read about this guy in the Book of Martyrs. He esteemed the eternal riches of Jesus greater than this life, and worth the horrible suffering he went through.
