    Great build! I was surpised I hadn't seen this video before as I've scoured YT for ideas. I just now realized you only posted yesterday - great timing for me! I've been on the fence a while about which kind of table I want to build, but now I know. My hesitation has been based on laying a 2x4 horizontally, but your idea of an extra casters and a post in the middle I think will do the trick. As an extra step I think I'm going to add an extra caster in the dead centre of the bottom board to provide some support there too... might be overkill, but at least it'll give peace of mind.

    • @MakerGray
      @MakerGray  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yay! I'm so glad you've found this helpful! I really like your idea of the extra caster. Peace of mind is worth it. Enjoy the build!

    Great build! I love the simplicity and the size makes for a a great bench and assembly table. I do have one concern where at 3:43 I saw you using the table saw with the fence and miter gauge together! This is a big safety issue as binding can happen and cause some serious kickback.

    Have you had it long enough that you would make any alterations? I love it and am going to build it. Buying the plans now to support your great idea. I was just wondering if I should make a 6x6 or not. Thanks for the great video.

      I'm pretty happy with it! I think I'll probably build out the big open space a little more for storage organization. But other than that, it's good! I love how it can easily adjust to whatever size you want to build. Thanks so much :)

    whats the best way to include 2" overhang for clamps?

  • @wendyharbon7290
    @wendyharbon7290 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why not add sides and/or end leaf hinged fold up sections, so you can both increase the work surface area, with included drop down folding support legs too?
    Also when these sides and ends hinged fold up sections or extended work surfaces, are actually folded down against the mobile work table framework.
    They become securable hinged and lockable doors, for added security of power tools and other equipment store under the work table upper work surface area too?
    As this mobile work table you built, would make an ideal dress making and fabric cut out pattern table, especially with a second large storage shelf, for bolts of fabric to be stored on too!

    • @wendyharbon7290
      @wendyharbon7290 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also I would like to see you make a mobile sewing and craft work table, which is fully height adjustable, for people of different heights, both to seat at or stand, but also for wheelchair users like myself too.
      When using this mobile sewing and craft work table, which hopefully would include one fold out and up hinged extending work surface end, to create a large working area for fabric and sewing machine etc, while at the other end of this mobile sewing and craft work table.
      Is fold out and up hinged extending padded heat reflective ironing-board, plus iron outlet power socket and iron storage metal safety rack too.
      Maybe with a fold out full length and up hinged extending work surface section too, located on the back side of the mobile sewing and craft work table too?
      Along with including a pop-up electric plug and USB power outlet tower at one end, with a pop up multiple-adjustable folding arm LED Daylight/warm light unit, mounted at the other end too.
      Then one storage cupboard at one end, with draw unit at the other end of mobile sewing and craft work table, with cutout area in the middle to seat or stand too, maybe a couple of built-in slide out drink holders, for coffee, soft drinks, or water bottle too.
      Including both pop-up electric plug and USB power outlet tower at one end, with a pop up multiple-adjustable folding arm LED Daylight/warm light unit, at the other end of your mobile work table could be a good idea too.

    • @MakerGray
      @MakerGray  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love it! If you don't mind corded, I'd recommend buying it. I've heard that the Makita track saw is really great too.

    • @ericliddle7556
      @ericliddle7556 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just my own $0.02, but I love the Makita track saw. I'm on the Makita battery platform which is why I went with it. Have limited use with other track saws, but bias aside, I can say the Makita is worth it.

    Are you concerned about the construction grade 2 x 4 ' s twisting as they dry? My last workbench made with this material is not flat on top any more.

    • @MakerGray
      @MakerGray  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nah. I think they’ll be fine. I have a couple other small shop benches made with 2x4s that I built years ago and they’ve been fine. But if not, should be easy to fix.

    • @krhinkey
      @krhinkey 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I plan on using kiln dried to help with that but I think you are right. With all the pocket screws and plywood should be fine.@@MakerGray
