We used a 6" tall x 2" thick rail for this install. As far as the hooks, we only offer one size for this system. Please reach out to our customer service team at 800-849-8876 so that we can better assist you!
Hey there, what happens if I do the male on the headboard/footboard, and the female on the rail? I just spent far too long chiseling out the female and now im worried I cant go back... Do I have to mill up a new siderail, or can I work with this? Its for a king bed.
Hey! With these hangers, you do have to install the male end into the rail and the female end onto the headboard/footboard. The bedposts sit on the floor so they can support the hooks. If you were to reverse the orientation, the rails could unhook as soon as any weight was added since there is no support from the posts. However, the size of the plates are the same so you may be able to use your current rails and just reverse your male/female pieces. Hope this helps!
Hey there. I completed the project for the most part. The footboard mortise locks are rock solid. However, the headboard mortise locks are loose and I have no clue why. The screws used are #8 construction screws, so they sit a bit proud on the mortise plate. How do I fix this! I am so anxious I wrecked the piece@@osbornewood
