He added a traditional tone, I love the original, this is a completely different level. For me, he changes how I listen to music, how music affects me, and ultimately what I consider listening to. This is not said to criticize any other performers, how I am affected by his technique and voice is a sense of peace which I haven’t had with others. Thank you both for your reaction.
At the end of the second verse, Dimash sings "I love you" in Mandarin ("Wo ai ni") to the Chinese audience, and again in the third verse, adding "Men (I) seni (you) suyemin(love)" in Kazakh, before whispering "Thank you very much" in Mandarin at the end. Dimash beautifully incorporates Middle Eastern (Armenian, Turkish, Arabic, Azerbaijani, Kazakh) runs in the song.

More specifically, the last whisper was "Thank you very much". Dimash always seems to keep in mind where he is and who he is performing for. He didn't speak any Chinese when he participated in Singer, needing a full-time translator to get around, but he made sure to incorporate little things like this and even perform whole songs in Chinese!

You’ll get blown away by this one. I could not believe my ears when I heard it for the first time by Dimash. I grew up listening to Lionel Richie and this is one of his iconic and my favorite songs but I’m sorry.. Dimash just took it to a whole another level.

I appreciate Lionel Richie’s original, but Dimash’s version is next level. I love the middle eastern feel to Dimash’s version. Dimash was invited back the season after he competed. This was one of Dimash’s earlier performances in English. He continues to improve his pronunciation. You may enjoy some of his ensembles, including Forever Queen with Dimash and Super Vocal Boys. He did "makam" music such as hicaz,nihavend and huseyni.. and also he mixed all of them in this song.. its really difficult to do..
@@halildonmez2946 I have to acknowledge that I just looked up Makam music for a better understanding! Wow! Over 200 different constructs! Having studied western music for most of my life, it is interesting to broaden the horizons and learn about culturally different music theories and sounds. I recall after my father died, I dreamt he and I went for a walk in beautiful green fields. My father brought me to a grand hall where musicians from every era and every ethnicity and culture were playing music together. It was a sublime and incredible experience for my subconscience and it took me hearing Dimash’s music the first time to even remotely bring back the sounds that were in my dream with my father. So beautiful, rich and diverse with peace and harmony as the focus.

Yes, he has the ability to go to high notes, the highest ever, but the writer of the original song, did not see it fit to go to extremely high notes. I think it’s a work of genius because a) it’s him saying hello to the fans and the stage (which is the I Am Singer stage where he competed in 2017 he has come back in 2018 as a guest performer on the finale) that made him a star. He truly cherishes his Chinese fans because they embraced him from the first performance and never let go. So, he’s literally saying hello to them. But, I truly believe that the subtext of this song is the ‘east saying hello to the west, and the west saying hello to the east’ and Dimash is an interpreter in the middle showing us how exquisitely beautiful things could be if we all came together as one in our world. My last point…this is the fastest I’ve ever seen him break character after any of his performances, and I believe that to be because these two messages so fundamentally explain who Dimash is as a human being. He believes these things to his core of his being, and lives it in his every day life. So, it was really easy for him to leave that character, because it wasn’t really a character, so much as it was just…him. I love your videos. Thank You! A Canadian Dear 🦌🇨🇦💜🇰🇿
The 80s had some of the best music! Whether it was American pop, Euro disco new wave, punk rock, power ballads, they were all good and still used in many ways.

His Chinese Dears absolutely adore him. It was the Singer 2017 competition in China which shot Dimash to international fame. That’s why he was invited back as a guest performer for this 2018 event.
Dimash used an Arabic maqam for his ad lib in the 2nd half of the song. It's a system of oriental scales, melodic phrases and ornamentation techniques.
He ended the song by speaking Mandarin

What I love about this version is that even if Dimash does it his way I feel he really pays respect to the original. The original is good and Dimash knows and shows that even if he adds his own flare to it.

Ребята моя Любимка - композиция Passione в Сочи. В ней так много смысла. Чтобы его понять я смотрела несколько раз. Очень сложное произведение. Здесь важно всё: слова песни, костюмы всех участников, последовательность композиции, декорации и задний фон сцены. Я сначала подумала, что песня о страсти между мужчиной и женщиной, но она не об этом. Она о другом. Так хочется разобраться в смысле, который придумали Принц из Казахстана и Гений-еврей из Украины- Игорь Крутой. 🙏💕

Lionel Richie writes some of the most beautiful songs you can imagine, Lady, Three Times A Lady, Easy Like Sunday Morning for starters. Lady was recorded by Kenny Rogers. However, he and Lionel sang it once together on a show. Dimash on the other hand makes you forget the way Lionel did it.

I am glad you listened to the original first to truly appreciate Dimash's interpretation. Dimash's rendition of Lionel Richie’s "Hello" was a guest performance on "I am a Singer 2018"; he was not competing that year. At the end of the second verse, Dimash sang "I love you" in Mandarin ("Wo ai ni") to the Chinese audience, and again in the third verse, adding "I love you" in Kazakh, before whispering "Thank you" in Mandarin at the end.
Dimash beautifully incorporates Middle Eastern (Armenian, Turkish, Arabic, Azerbaijanian, Kazakh) runs in the song. His friend, Erlan Bekchurin, did the musical arrangement for this performance and most of his other arrangements. The flute is called a sybyzgy, a traditional Kazakh flute and precursor to the modern flutes. In my humble opinion, this is my favorite rendition of the song, even better than the original. I saw Lionel Richie perform this song live in Berlin, Germany. I also saw the Commodores after Lionel Richie had left the band.
You pointed out that Dimash starts his covers close to the original version before making the song his own, and you are absolutely correct. He did the same with "Sinful Passion," "Adagio," "Love is like a Dream," "Your Love," "Ikanaide," and probably every other song he has covered.

I couldn't listen to this song because of the millions of times it was played on the radio/tv in the 80s/90s. And then came Dimash in 2018 and smashed it. I still don't like the song... But hey, it's Dimash and I love Dimash. I'm happy to say that in 3 days I'm going to his concert in Germany and I'm beyond excited 😆

This was actually an encore appearance by Dimash to The Singer. He had previously appeared as a contestant the year before and they invited him back as a guest. Everything to do with The Singer brought him front and center to the world's audience and he hasn't slowed down since.
Couple of quick notes: Although there styles could not be further apart, there are two artists who have a similar affect on their audiences which can only be described as incredible and everlasting. Dimash and Angelina Jordan. There will be a day when the world will face a situation which will require people from all around the world to unite to deal with a particular challenge. I believe a televised program addressing that issue will be hosted by Dimash and Angelina. OMG! Every time I picture the scene in my mind of Dimash waiting on center stage for Angelina to start walking toward him and then, when they meet they gently embrace, then clasp hands, turn and wave to the cheering audience in the theater and to ALL THE PEOPLE OF THE WORLD. What a moment!
Another one: When you read the bio on Lionel Richie you came across the song 'Endless Love'. His duet with Diana Ross is memorable. There are three things I would like you to consider listening to. The version of Lionel Richie and Diana Ross singing a duet. And, a mashup of a threesome including Lionel Richie, Diana Ross and Angelina Jordan. Does she fit it? (Perfectly!)
