I love it. Got one in my local bike shop. Used it for my first 100km Overnighter. You also get a mount for lights with it. I used mine to Mount my Garmin Varia at the end of the rack instead of the seatpost where it normally is mounted.
Thank you so much for this review. I ended up buying the quick rack because of it (instead of expensive Tailfin) and I'm very happy with it. It was good to see the up- and downsides.
Interesting that you suggest it can be used across multiple bikes and so keep the cost down. I thought the exact same thing but when I checked with Ortlieb support, they do not sell the mounting kits separately so you also have to transfer all the mounting studs over which makes it no different to any other rack. I really hope they change this policy and start selling additional mounting kits. Other than that, this rack is awesome, rock solid even with fully loaded panniers.
Today I wrote to the customer service, the mounting bolts are sold separately. Not yet via the online shop but the SKU is E242 'mounting kit M5 and M6' and costs 7€ + shipping.
Thanks for the video! Great! Can you tell me how you adjusted the bottom clamps of the panniers you use? I have a bit of a struggle and can’t find any instructions. 😃
While the SKS Speedrocker and the mudguard "add-on" for the Quick Rack are an option, I'd be interested if the SKS S-Blade mudguard, which is also mounted at the seat post, would fit with the Quick Rack?
Hey, I don‘t think that it is possible to mount the SKS S-blade whilst the Quick Rack is installed, because both are attached to the seat post and that wouldn’t be possible.
Do you know if you can use longer screws for the mounting points so one can use the same hole for attaching a mudguard stay. I only have one mounting point so would be good to be able to use it for both the rack and the mudguards
Hey, very good question! I will ask and come back to you but I can imagine that that is not recommended because it might well weaken the mounting points. That's why Ortlieb offers a mudguard themselves! Cheers!
My gravel bike has a carbon frame. Of course, the carbon frame has a 5M screw hole for mounting a luggage rack. Can this product be mounted on a carbon frame as well?
What I don’t get is why the rack bed slopes backwards when the pannier mounting bar is set parallel which I assume is how it should be installed to ensure from an engineering perspective that the pannier fixing points are evenly loaded? Does you rack also slope or is it mounted so the pannier bar slopes?
If I understand you correctly you are wondering why the lower struts (Bar) to which one attaches ones panniers is tilted (sloped) when one installed it so the platform is horizontal!? That is the case so your heels don't hit the bags whilst pedaling.
at minute 3:44 I see that you also have a mudguard and the carrier still works with it; I also have mudguards from SKS the Velo models but these are already screwed to the thread at the bottom. How did you mount the mudguard to the frame? With mounting clamps from SKS or how and what kind of rubber is it? I don't know if I could do it the same way or if the Ortlieb screw is long enough for the thread so that I could mount it directly with the mudguard
Hey, I use the SKS Speedrocker mudguards which attache to the seat stays with rubber bands and I attached it with a velcro strap to the seat tube. I am sorry but I can't understand your question in the last part of your message. Could you perhaps clarify so I can help? Cheers!
I have asked Ortlieb whether one can attache it to oval shaped seat posts, and they told me that is should fit, but I haven't tried it out personally...
Does anyone have thoughts or comments on the following: 3rd party or aftermarket racks when used on full suspension bikes. (This is quite common on Fat Tire E-Bikes) but I've seen even acoustic bikes have rear suspension's on them and what I've heard and trying to get further feedback on is this: Rear Racks when used in combination with the rear suspension design can injury the rider or damage the bike, or both, (at this moment I can't unpack that statement anymore, I'm trying to discern how common this opinion is held )
@@jeremyw.465 no surprise you are in Germany. am from Ukraine and i rode old Stevens 3X and now own 2019 Strada 600. super fast city bike. but i lost this spring, summer and autumn because i am in the army for known reasons.
Hey, although I haven't tried it out it should be possible, at least up to a width of 2,35" with a 29", so Ortlieb states on their website. About moving it back and forth: At the moment I am working on an update video and I will also address that because it isn't as simple and versatile as I said in this video... You will need a similar back end frame geometry because otherwise you will always have to adjust the length of the strut to have the rack mounted level. Also depending on the frame width of your two bikes where the screws would be mounted you might also have to compress or widen the rack which I don't think is too good for the aluminum... Not that that's all, you also need the same seat post circumference, because if they differ you will always have to adjust the quick release attachement. So it might be a bit more difficult than I thought it was to switch it between multiple bikes... I hope I could help!
Does your bike have 135mm rear hub spacing? Did the rack fit smoothly or did you have to stretch it very slightly to make it fit (maybe less than 10mm) on the mounts/eyelets? This rack reminds of the BTwin lightweight rack btw. :)
I have a rear hub spacing of 142mm an it wasn’t a problem. But Ortlieb states that it is no problem stretching or compressing the rack so that it fits your frame ;)
Yes, sadly I didn’t mention it in the video! I didn’t because if you just put your lock through one can still detach it but not take it away so it actually isn’t that difficult and no big consern!
@@jeremyw.465 Thank you! Mine is a 29x2,25 bike and I'm in doubt for the maximum clearance declared. Do you think I will not have problem with this rack? Thanks

I just mounted the rack. Really easy to do. As to the spray flap; just take a piece of plastic e.g. an pet bottle, cut out and attach with tie wraps.
