I loved just being lost and alone on the space station, using my wits. [I used the map twice ... but only when I got stuck and didn't know what my next objective was] I died over 100 times (I got a Steam non-achievement!). I accidentally killed some innocent humans with the flamethrower .. I just got spooked. I played as myself, basically, and my survival instincts made me torch some people who clearly didn't deserve it. I failed; even though I thought it was in self-defence. This level of immersion is almost impossible in a videogame ... surely, this is one of the greatest games ever made.
Mai Nem My brother bought me this game for Christmas like 3 years ago, I started playing it Christmas night when I first encountered the Alien , after I encountered the Alien, before you get to Seegson Communications it saves @ that check point and I was like Hell No! I was done I was too scared to continue playing. I stopped playing for like 5-6 months, which I actually forgot I had the game LOL. So, then I decided I will try playing again, I started back playing and where I left off I was basically in Android Territory. Those Androids are so damn creepy. I finally got the motion tracker and I was so happy that they had that as part of the game! Yay 😁 I love how they designed the Androids in the game even though they can be annoying they did an Awesome job with the Androids. So then I’m trying to make my way through Seegson Communication, after speaking with Samuels, and of course at the time all the alarms are going off the androids are hostile and I am terrified so I get lost, needless to say I finally find my way out of Seegson Communications, and head for Samuels. After speaking with him I go to medical who I meet up with Dr. Kulman. Now THIS is where the fun really begins! I’m in San Cristobal Medical Facility, where I start doing my objective, in Dr. Morleys office, then all of a sudden the alarm starts going off and I’m get worried! I’m going back out to the main Psychiatric Ward and then all of a sudden the Alien comes out of the vent!! So I run 🏃🏼 & hide , while I’m hiding I think what am I supposed to do now! So I say to myself I have to walk around with this creature! Are you kidding me. Now, some people say that they are more terrified of the Androids then the Alien me I’m way more terrified of the Alien. Needless to say, I fell in love with the game, Xenomorphs and I have never been scared of playing a video game in my life until I played Alien Isolation! If you hooked up a heart monitor to my heart while playing the game you would say I would be very unhealthy! Lol. The Alien Movies, Xenomorphs, & Alien Isolation are Amazing. Xenomorphs are Badass Creatures , Alien Isolation is a Gorgeous Masterpiece and Badass Game💯🖤💚🔥🔥
I love how this theme pairs so well with the main menu. It's a reminder that we have no clue what lurks out there, in the darkest corners of space. The kind of horror that we can't possibly comprehend and should pray to never come in contact with.
The main menu theme is actually the original aliens’ theme/motif just with some slight change to orchestration, the original score was influenced by polish sonorism, which you can hear in between the aliens motif
This theme always gives me the chills. Seeing how Sevastopol is so small and isolated away from other forms of life compared to KG-348 is just how we as humans are the same way. Compared to the entire universe, we think we are the only ones and quite possibly, we can be. Imagine that all the way millions of years away, lies no other life besides the life on Earth. We are only a spec compared to the full picture.
The universe is so incredibly huge that it's actually unlikely that we are the only life forms existing in it. However life, due to just how difficult complex molecules are to maintain and how easy it is to eradicate them, is probably incredibly rare compared to how many star systems and planets exist. Of course the sheer number of star systems and planets would probably make the number quite high still. However that's where distance comes in. Even if you move at the speed of light it will still take a little more than 4 years to reach Alpha Centauri. And that is the closest star system to our solar system. So the likelihood for us to ever encounter alien life forms that are still alive is probably not very likely. At least not any time soon.

You create one sun, and one planet with a bunch of Trump supporters on it, and goodness knows what other malevolent forces ... ... but also a billion galaxies that have nothing in them, just suns exploding, meteors and dead planets being thrown around everywhere, behaving predictably according to the physical laws that our greatest human minds have discovered ... why? For our entertainment? It doesn't feel like "design" to me at all. I think aliens do exist, it's numerically impossible in such a large universe for them not to ... but, the vast distances involved mean we might never encounter an alien race ... the light that shows their planet even existing in its infancy might not reach us for millions of years, and yet they might exist right now. A talented lizard-like film director on our nearest neighbours, Alpha Centauri, would release a horror film called "H U M A N" [about a trapped crew of an Alpha Centaurian mining vessel in deep space, that comes across a strange escape pod - with a HUMAN inside it; they are then picked off one-by-one (terrifying!)], and it would be a huge hit - being broadcast everywhere ... I want to see "H U M A N" too! But those broadcasts, being sent out today, wouldn't reach us for 4.5 million years! And those are our nearest neighbours.

When I first played this game, I deadass just stayed on the main menu screen for like half an hour listening to this. I love it, there’s already a huge sense of dread and you haven’t even started the game yet. Horror games that have this style of ambiance to it are amazing.
I don't care what you guys think, but I would LOVE to see a film adaptation of this game by Ridley Scott. I feel like he could really scare us with a movie based on a terrifying game.
Not sure about Scott directing - he's made some very poor choices recently. But this story DEFINITELY deserves to be a movie. The character of Amanda Ripley fully deserves to be included in the lore. I think Jodie Comer would be a terrific Amanda. Benedict Cumberbatch would be an excellent Samuels. John Boyega would be perfect as Ricardo. Supported by Emma Watson as Taylor, Amy Adams as Verlaine and J.K Simmons as Waits. Not forgetting Simon Cowell as Alien.

You should probably check out goldsmith’s other works if you like this. I don’t know if it’s remastered but Poltergiest 2 is one that has that blend of ambience and entrancing melodies the same way that alien does
the main menu screen is the best main menu screen from any video game I've played. The station is so small compared to the vast void of space and the massive planet, it builds the sense that you truly are alone. this unsettling track completely captures that feeling with an almost sense of awe that comes with looking out into that abyss, knowing that you are utterly alone. But there is some serenity from that sight, and it perfectly captures the feel of Alien.
In the darkest pitimies of space there lies dormant a stationary planet. A planet that contains the darkest creatures you can not imagine, or comprehend.

I was playing this game for the first time today after studying goldsmith’s music for a couple of years. I’m a little disappointed that the main theme is essentially a remastered version of goldsmith’s own score but it still gives me goosebumps! A little tweak to orchestration and now this classic theme just sounds so clean

I always recommend to friends who haven’t seen the movies to watch the first movie, play this game and then watch Aliens. All three together are the quintessential Alien experience. That’s how good this game is.
playing this game on the highest difficulty for the first time i was so excited yet satisfied when beating it..weeks later the nightmares as the fresh memories faded from my brain as they do in sleep were horrifying
this one feels so much like "The Passage", by Jerry Goldsmith for the first and original 79's Alien movie, but i think this one is more powerful than the original version, more immersive and intense

I beat this game around April 2021, even on Easy it’s hard and frustrating. You have to save for checkpoints so that you wouldn’t have to restart from where you were making progress

Sega *can* make good games, if they try hard enough. This is proof.
It’s funny how well this game turn out tbh what with Sega’s inconsistent track record and the fact that Assembly have literally just been making Total War for the past 2 decades

I beat this game around April 2021, even on Easy it’s hard and frustrating. You have to save for checkpoints so that you wouldn’t have to restart from where you were making progress
I beat this game in 2016. 2 Years after I got it. I left it in my steam account for a few years before playing for the first time. Finished the game on nightmare mode in 2021

Yes - it's actually the opening track of "A L I E N" ... which basically just shows a slow-moving pass-by close to a planet as the letters gradually reveal themselves ..

That’s probably not a coincidence, that game was based heavily on The Thing and its safe to say John Carpenter and Goldsmith both share a love for sci-fi horror in their careers
