Dion was great!! My younger brother and I used to watch this every time it was on TV when we were kids. It was a movie but I don’t remember the name of it. Danny and the Juniors world be singing “At The Hop” too. “Runaround Sue” is great by Dion and I used to spend my nickels at the corner store listening to Dion’s “Donna The Prima Donna” sitting at the soda fountain with my friends. Dion DiMucci. One of a group of young Italian singers who were popular in the 50s. He got serious when he sang Abraham, Martin, and John. He had previously been in Dion and the Belmonts. They had a hit with A Teenager in Love. They were on the same tour with Buddy Holly, Ricthie Valens, and Big Bopper when those three died in the plane crash. Dion had been invited to join them on the plane, but he thought the price for a ticket was too high.
although not my era, I had 7 older sisters so I was schooled in the music of the 50s/early 60s, especially the teen idol crooners. There was so much more than Elvis. I remember listening to Frankie Avalon, Bobby Vee, Bobby Vinton, Dion, Bobby Darin and my favorite-Ricky Nelson. Other artists of that era that I liked were Gary US Bonds, Chubby Checker, Buddy Holly,
Dion is awesome. He’s still alive and writing songs to this day. Has his own YT channel. He’s also in Dion and the Belmont’s. “Teenager in Love” is one of there greats.

As a little girl dancing and singing along to this one with my mom in the living room, she'd love the little swagger I would put on for it. Such good memories you are bringing back 💗
Back in the day, Dion was the epitome of cool. He was originally the lead singer in a group called Dion and The Belmonts i the late '50s, then went out on his own around 1961 or so. This is one of his best songs, along with "Runaround Sue" and "Ruby Baby". He an the Belmonts did some great stuff together; you should check them out.
Hey, I love Jevon's reaction! He 'gets' it ! Dion was just cool. Great voice. Great song ! I grew up in the '50s-60s and this was one of my all time favorites. Oh Jay, you just made my day. My husband lived in CA. for awhile and he traveled back and forth to NY where we both grew up to see some friends from time to time. Well, during one visit we met and after riding around in his truck with him for a week or so, I realized that every time I was in his truck I'd hear, "The Wanderer" so I spoke to him about the co-incidence. He answered that he had it on a playlist cause it was his song... he was the wanderer. Well, I don't know if he ever learned that I was the one that kept letting the air out of his tires but after 36 yrs., we're still together. lol I too have it on my playlist on my phone. It is catchy. Thanks for your reaction.... take care and be well. Peace.
Dion was a true RnRoll pioneer. Started out as Dion and the Belmonts. Was popular and made songs for many years. Your taste and appreciation of the early RnR years is impressive. You are usually very , very accurate in most all of your reviews. I know , I grew up to and with these fantastic artists and groups long ago.
This song goes way back to the day before I was born but they used to play it at the skating rink when I was a kid decades ago. And yes, he's letting you know, he's a player, lol! Great react!
Before Dion was a solo artist, he was part of a vocal group called Dion & the Belmonts. Their song "I Wonder Why" is perhaps my favorite song that Dion was a part of, although this one and "Runaround Sue" are good too.
I’m surprised you haven’t reacted to Little Richard yet! He was one of the founding fathers of rock & roll with Good Golly Miss Molly, Long Tall Sally, etc. He was a hell of a showman. We lost him just this past May.
I love this reaction, you feel music so much, it's a joy to see. You could maybe give Cliff Richard a listen? Congratulations or Wired for sound or Summer holiday or Power to all our friends for something upbeat or, my personal favorite, Next Time for a ballad :)
You are the best reacter on youtube....You can tell you've never heard these songs and you seem to enjoy all of them....You can always tell when one of the reaction video people have heard the song before and it takes the fun out of it for us
Dion has a new album. It’s an amazing blues album. Song for Sam featuring Paul Simon. It’s based on his time with Sam Cooke in segregated south. Really good. But from the early days- Runaround Sue.
Dion DiMucci was a star in the 1950s Doo-Wapp scene. He had a few hit songs in the mid to late 60s as well. He's a pioneer in Rock and Roll History, from the same time as Elvis, Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins and all of the rest of the guys that started what came to be known as Rock and Roll. Thanks
I just can’t help but smile and laugh when I hear you describe the song and how you like it. You are so darn cute and by precious, and here I am a 65 year old Caucasian woman who grew up with all this music. I like it when a youngster finds truly oldie but goodies music. Keep up the great work. Keep this old lady happy!
I remember this well. A North American Top Ten hit in the era just before the Beatles changed everything. Very early 60's if my memory serves me. Some days it does!
The song is a little trickier than one would think. Listen again to the bridge where he admits he's happy as a clown but he's going nowhere. He just wanders around. Basically he's celebrating his pointless life of self-gratification and noncommitment. Admittedly, very few could admit to such weaknesses with such winsomeness and energy. Dion was one of the epitomizes of Italian-American doo wop singing. Definitely check out the other songs being recommended in the comments. All well worth a listen.
Also from Dion you gotta check out "Ruby Baby". It is said that one day after Dion did his number, behind the curtains Little Richard's mom herself approached to Dion and told him "son, you got soul!".
Don't forget to thumbs up the video guys thank you
Thanks mate! If at least you do a reaction to Rosetta Tharpe “ Didn’t it rain” live 1964. That would that would be amazing and I’ll shut up!

'Runaround Sue' is great too. The Wanderer always reminds me of 'Duke of Earl' by Gene Chandler.
There must be an old compilation album out there where Duke of Earl comes right after The Wanderer, because I always connect those songs too lol
Runaround Sue was so named for Dion's wife, whom he would marry a few years later. By the way, they are still together today.

Well, I don't know if he ever learned that I was the one that kept letting the air out of his tires but after 36 yrs., we're still together. lol I too have it on my playlist on my phone. It is catchy. Thanks for your reaction.... take care and be well. Peace.
....and I really didn't let the air out of his tires. lol
Dion did a great song “ Abraham Martin and John” that was pretty awesome 👏
Dion was a true RnRoll pioneer. Started out as Dion and the Belmonts. Was popular and made songs for many years. Your taste and appreciation of the early RnR years is impressive. You are usually very , very accurate in most all of your reviews. I know , I grew up to and with these fantastic artists and groups long ago.
Your reaction bring joy and a smile to my heart! They don’t make much music like that nowadays! I grew up in the 70s!
This song goes way back to the day before I was born but they used to play it at the skating rink when I was a kid decades ago. And yes, he's letting you know, he's a player, lol! Great react!
I think his gravelly voice is in perfect harmony with the saxophone
Before Dion was a solo artist, he was part of a vocal group called Dion & the Belmonts. Their song "I Wonder Why" is perhaps my favorite song that Dion was a part of, although this one and "Runaround Sue" are good too.
More people need to be put onto this song !! So happy you did a reaction to it 💯
I’m surprised you haven’t reacted to Little Richard yet!
If you're going back this far, listen to Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers "Why Do Fools Fall In Love?"
A few Dion songs you can check out are Runaround Sue, Donna the Prima Donna, and Abraham Martin and John along with multiple others.
love your reaction that what all the kids did back when this was new at this time this was the BEST rock n roll song ever
You are the best reacter on youtube....You can tell you've never heard these songs and you seem to enjoy all of them....You can always tell when one of the reaction video people have heard the song before and it takes the fun out of it for us
One of my Momma's favorite when she was a teenager
Dion has a new album. It’s an amazing blues album. Song for Sam featuring Paul Simon. It’s based on his time with Sam Cooke in segregated south. Really good. But from the early days- Runaround Sue.
That was fun!
Audience just sits there like nothing is happening 😂😂. That's a killer song!
One of the biggest hits and great singer. Those were the times.
He was 13 when he wrote this song and I'm convinced Runaround Sue made Dion The Wanderer
Also from Dion you gotta check out "Ruby Baby". It is said that one day after Dion did his number, behind the curtains Little Richard's mom herself approached to Dion and told him "son, you got soul!".
Runaround Sue is another great Dion song. Also Abraham, Martin and John is a favorite.
I'm from Canada and really like your show and variety. Keep up the great job :)
Dion is a Badass! Love this tune!
So bizarre to think of a concert looking like this, I would have to get up and dance.. they're so proper.
Dion is still around. He’s in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and has a new album. He still sounds the same.
