MBMBaM 711: Notice Me, Jerry Senpai

  • Sounds like the woke left is once again out here ruining comedy, and we’re part of the problem! We just don’t care about sitcoms like Ever-Sheldon, or Ur-Sheldon, or even Un-Sheldon. We’re too busy helping our friends reclaim their scent-based cults and getting into surprisingly heated debates about what makes the perfect walking stick.

    I love how Jerry mentions great, non-political comedy shows like... M.A.S.H. The show about doctors working during the Korean war.

    So just to hopefully get the word out before anyone gets sick, UNWASHED eggs can last a couple weeks unrefrigerated.
    All storebought eggs in the USA and canada are not only prewashed, but heavily heavily washed, and can last maybe two or three days at best and even that is a notable risk.

    • @sqronce
      @sqronce 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah, general rule is if they're in the fridge at the store, keep them in the fridge. If they're not, you don't have to. If they have ever been refrigerated, even if they're unwashed, you still have to keep them refrigerated from then on, because condensation from the temperature difference can lead to nasties entering the inside of the egg. (Just consolidating egg info.)

    As someone who loves og Fraiser and (regrettably) watched 6 episodes of the reboot, the crew going to Mr. Kelsey (irl Fraiser) Grammer as the Fraiser fact checker explains so much about the reboot

    • @pooolB
      @pooolB 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      The best way I can explain it is the reboot feels like if Fraiser himself found out he had a show about him, then attempted to make a new show under his strict guidance. There is a running joke(?) that everyone knows who he is and how successful and smart he is and he naturally smells very good for some reason. The acting of his son is probably the best part, everything else is just like any other mid sitcom. It's not horrible, but it's just kinda...there

    • @richardreid6515
      @richardreid6515 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sounds about right. The reboot is aimed at Frasier fans' nostalgia, so not surprising 'Frasier is great and amazing and popular' would wind up in the mix.

    • @pooolB
      @pooolB หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@richardreid6515 honestly it feels more like Kelsey Grammer's Frasier nostalgia. I feel like most fans I've met agree Fraiser Crane was kind of a pompus ass 90% of the time (but like in an entertaining fun way) and liked seeing him get his ego checked, where as Grammer got legitimately mad at his dog costar for having a more likable character. The reboot's exactly like how he'd rewrite Frasier Crane

    I still don't love you hating on the people who helped me get through my childhood, I said something when you crit hit rowan attkinson too.
    I mean you're not wrong, but they are old, and...idk I just don't like it when these old guys are outed for having a different view.
    I agree that how they honed their craft was for an audience that ought not exist anymore, but there is something about honing the comedy craft being an appeal to the collective unconscious that ought to still be allowed to go into sunset, cowboy style.
    It's on them, because they're failing to recognise that when society changes, comedy changes, but.....
    OK...he's not a victim, he just doesn't know, and maybe neither do I, how the tides change, and what the past meant..but comedy is on this knife's edge...
    Your criticism of him is funny now, because it's serious and relevant, but in the future it too will just be serious, but no longer as relevant, and not funny.
    I can't stress enough how much I love you guys, but truth is something which needs to grow, and I don't believe that Jerry wasn't a part of that.
    When irony ceases to fall out of relevance, that's when no progress is being made, but asking people to give up on irony is just beyond human isn't it?
    I'm not that good, I'm not that beyond.
    Are you? I don't know, I just know I don't like it when you slam these guys, however shitty and unrepeatable the past is/was.

    • @takisnotdead
      @takisnotdead 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +26

      I think the main fire for them shitting on the guys you mentioned is that Jerry and Rowan make so much money that there is no way they will ever listen to or give a damn about what the brothers say. The good good brothers went through the ringer for 6 episodes of a show, meanwhile Jerry and Rowan are still swimming in million dollar deals about Pop-tarts and bees or whatever. Not to say you're wrong about any of it, just fits in their motto of "punching up."

    • @rxttencandy
      @rxttencandy 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +21

      it sounds like maybe you need to take a look at the people who "made your childhood" and ask if that was rly a good thing. calling some washed up comedian (who was frankly never that funny without larry david) out for pivoting to right wing grifting after losing his relevance in hopes of grabbing just a bit more money and fame in his old age sounds perfectly valid to me.

    • @Treeboar8
      @Treeboar8 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @takisnotdead i would welcome you disagreeing with me more than this, and I appreciate getting any response, I just feel like the whole, being on the right side of history thing, is more of a pass the baton kind of deal. Which I think that both sides are failing on. I am old though, and I just can't imagine my life without either of those comedians, and the future of comedy will continue to acknowledge irony. Rather than try and be beyond it.
      I'm sorry I can't express this better, but I am old, I do think that the temptation to imagine that any generation has transcended irony is short sighted, I think it will remain a part of comedy until we actually reach social harmony (at the very least) and I think that pointing out irony will always be impolite, politically incorrect and subversive to social norms, whatever the social norms may be, until it becomes boring.

    • @Treeboar8
      @Treeboar8 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @rxttencandy I Don't disagree, I just think that there's something about ironic comedy that is insightful to some people while it seems insensitive to others, I don't think that comedians know everything, and I think that they often normalise terrible things to insensitive sadistic people, but offer genuine insight to genuinely sensitive people
