- One Life to Live Jan 1989 Viki, Roger, Tina, Cord, Gabrielle, Leo, Christine, Wade & Michael have all discovered a city beneath Llantano Mountain. Roger lies about how he knows about the secret city. They learn it is called Eterna and that it was built by Victor Lord & others in the 50s to protect their gold.
I don't know why people had such a problem with this storyline. Yes, it was "over the top", but such delicious fun. This all began in the fall of 1988 when Viki realized she hadn't graduated high school, had turned into Niki Smith, ran away to New York, had a baby, and all of this resulted in this wonderful storyline and ended with her learning that Megan was her daughter. I thought it was a well developed and creative story, and the progression of it was really good! Eterna forever!
I LOVE the eterna storyline.
I have this on VHS I got it from a tape trade years back. This storyline happened when I was just born, 1989. The music score is amazing.

I remember this when I was like 8 or 9 we would have mom tape One Life to Live for the Eternia episodes. Fascinating as a kid.
This was the show at it's best! Bring back Eterna!

I just loved Oltl at this time. Anything they did I enjoyed especially because Tina and Cord were there.

This storyline was nuts but it ended Viki finding out Megan was her daughter

At the time his was one of the biggest sets ever created in daytime. When they did the wide shot you can tell it was huge. Yes, it was totally unrealistic for OLTL but the audience ate it up.
I caught this storyline when I was home from school with chicken pox and for some reason decades later it just popped in my mind. Wasn't even sure what I was remembering other than at the time being fascinated by a lost underground city. Super easy to find, not at all what my child self remembers LOL Still awesome none the less to suddenly remember something random from 30 years ago and be able to identify and find it on you tube. It self-destructed. The booby traps that had been set went off and explosions rocked the foundation of the city. Eterna crumbled around those traped. After the city had caved in on itself the survivors saw light and were pulled out of an opening in the rock. Right after those who survived escaped Eterna it was consumed in flames.
No, the scenes are on VHS & DVD in my closet.
Megan was trapped in the ruins of Eterna due to her searching for an antidote for her father who fell ill after escaping. Megan, Max and Bo went to Eterna and found the cure. Eterna was then sealed permanently by Asa when he detonated charges that was planted by him and Bo.
Love this show....Corny but fabulous

Aww loved this storyline as it brought Megan on canvas.Tina, Cord, Gabrielle(Finola has some awesome hair here.lol). Tina and Gabrielle after the treasure as always.Vicki and Roger were good together:)
I have edited about 82+ hours of scenes concerning Natalie's storyline from her first scene until she met John McBain. Then I have about 3+ hours edited after her having met John. Then I have some tapes/DVDs filled with complete episodes of before she met John and even some after she met John. I have grown somewhat tired of transfering, editing and uploading her scenes, though, which is why I haven't uploaded much of her except what has been requested.
WOW you are a wonderful GOD among men and women Soapdiety! i will bow down and worship you to see the ETERNA HIGHLIGHTS...i'm shaking like jello at just the thought of it....

I don't recall anything about Megan being trapped in Eterna, but who knows...from what I know she and Sarah were in Llanview trying to get their mother, Carrie, to spill the big secret...

12 years late to answer your question, but Max and Megan made a brief return to attempt to find an antidote for her father, who was dying from the poison from Eterna. Michael Grande tried to get Wade to help him find a way back in to retrieve the gold. But when they got there, Asa and some of his men were there and they blew up the entrance with dynamite, which supposedly sealed it up forever. They never even talked about Eterna after that to my knowledge.
@soapdeity Karen and Marco switching babies (1978?) was a much better storyline and I think OLTL repeated themselves w/ Gabby's baby switch

too bad the sound is so bad, could hardly make out the dialogue.

And.... this was when I stopped watching OLTL. When you've seen the amazing work of actors like Judith Light, Gerald Anthony, Al Freeman Jr., Steve Fletcher, Nancy Snyder, Margaret Klenck, Brynn Thayer in the early to mid 1980s..... this Eterna garbage isn't even worth spit compared to the Golden Years. I curse Paul Rausch to this day for what he did to OLTL.
What he did was make the show very popular and a ratings winner? What about how the show was ruined in the 90s with Todd Manning?
