While this show clearly has NO bad episodes, this is absolutely one of their best. Both guests are 100/10, and of course Dr Katz, Ben, and Laura are all completely on point. Love this show ❤️
Really love those shots of Ben's face suddenly changing from goofy grin to a scowl like at 14:03, or in the ep where Steven Wright throws a penny at him and claims it 'fell from the ceiling or something'. Not only that, the shot lingers a second before cutting to next scene, like Ben's silently thinking. It's a type of visual joke that was of course entirely absent when they recorded the (largely retro-scripted) dialogue. My point being that the animators deserve no small credit for how funny the show is as a whole.

brendon had nothing to do with dr katz, Loren Bouchard had a had a hand in writing with Katz you are correct on mcguirk and eric. but Laura didn't voice Melissa, Laura Silverman voiced Linda, Brendon's stepmom and various other voices. Melissa was voiced by Melissa Bardin Galsky who was Katz assistant in reality for Dr Katz

I am a Californian, and Barry is so right about the flakiness of the people here. It bothers me to. I wasn't raised that way. The people he is describing, more often than not, there is more than just a "telephone and a car involved." Usually also drugs. Namely some certain "happy plant", and/or prescription meds.
Rita Rudner is absolutely the best at being funny by not being funny... I didn't laugh at her 25 years ago, and I'm still un-amused by her now... But, I like her for being good at being dull, if that makes sense.
i remember all of Barry Sobel's lines had no idea what his name was and i still have no idea who he is but his episode this one was the most memorable.
