For some reason everyone misses the point. You can't really mesure AI on human scale. It matters a lot on how you ask questions, the context you give to AI and how much user "IQ" and awareness of many subjects. I feel AI is more like an exponential tool for thinking. It makes exponentially better evey individual, think it as your own IQ raised to the power of the AI model/models you use. So someone let's say with IQ of 99 with AI will kick the ass of anyone with IQ of 150 with no AI. If the person with IQ 150 will use AI no one with less IQ will be able to win with under that IQ. It's simplified a lot but hope you get my point.

Seems to me like Apple could construct their system LLM router that find the current model to use that's best for the situation. And that's a great way of outsourcing AI development, from Apple's point of view. So they can hedge their bets by picking what's the AI best at any one time. But I have no idea how Apple Intelligence is configured.

With the return to office, the intent needs to be worked out clearly for it to work. Just getting people together tends to dampen high performance but bring up average performance. However in an AI world can you amplify high performing individuals with AI rather than other individuals (effectively what you do with a team) and does it have less friction. The other uses of getting people together, the true cross pollination and exploration of new ideas works better with something other than a cubicle farm. We may evolve work to be WFH punctuated with team building, retreats and sprints - something you already see in some small flexible parts of the IT industry

They aren’t behind in JUST the Ai area of technology. Many other phone companies have released technology beyond Apple’s released efforts and it is starting to show exponentially. I was hoping to upgrade from 13 Pro Max to the 16 PM this year but there is absolutely no reason to waste the money. I am still hopeful, but I am lucky to also have a Samsung to cover the areas in which Apple is insufficient.

Sorry, Apple wasted their time and money on that ridiculous Vision Pro. If they had to showcase their glasses, they had to make sure it’s something that has utility and that can be used outside for everyday use, not just a novelty for mostly inside the home use. They basically google glassed themselves and Vision Pro is now just basically a product for hardcore Apple fans. As a result, while they may not be behind, their AI efforts slowed down (I mean Apple is not really what comes to mind now when people are talking about AI compared to OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Google’s Gemini) and they had to halt their Apple car efforts which could’ve been a direct competitor to Tesla while they would’ve kept pace with full self driving autonomy AI, which means they could’ve still kept pace with AI from the big two in the market now had they pursued Apple car since they would’ve directly competed with Tesla AI while still being competitive with Google and OpenAI.

I personally think two days at the office is more than enough if at all for certain careers. As Gen X and the rest of the baby boomers age out, you will see remote work more and more! The benefits of being in the office is outweighed by the benefits of being at home. I worked in an office for over 20 years prior to Covid and even then we were asking why we need to be in the office everyday. We were screaming for 2-3 day in office. This was when it got to the point where everyone had laptops. I’ll leave it at this. I can get more work done in half the time at home!

I never considered that Apple might integrate many different AI models to handle various tasks for the iPhone 16 owner. This is a profound idea, which could pave the way for widespread adoption of generative AI models and Internet 4.0, potentially making web pages obsolete.

OpenRouter also has an Auto mode to route prompts to the best models.

In a certain way that kind of are because all the different features that are coming out in 2024 are kind of little but the bigger stuff that we’re looking for is in 2025 and it could be the iPhone 7 Pro or Pro Max or the 17 or 17+ models features if it comes way late in 2025 this is just my opinion my honest thoughts but yeah

There's nothing wrong with a 5 day work week. It's definitely true that each generation gets lazier. Get off your ass and work.

I would suggest your interpretation of an accountant is inaccurate, you are confusing the same with a bookkeeper who provides routine and repeating services whereas an accountant's tasks are far more varied and complex. I do not believe a company should consider/be responsible for a better life, many businesses are realising that a significant majority of home workers are time-wasting and grossly inefficient and teamwork and cohesion are degrading the business / product. The concept works for diligent and conscientious and that is not the majority. The company is losing revenue. if the individual wants fewer hours to work then change the job do not expect the person paying your wages to adapt to you

I agree with their points on accounting. My wife has been searching for a good accountant for years, and the experience has been similar. The issue we often face is that most accountants prioritize the easiest approach, rather than what’s best for their clients, especially with small or medium-sized businesses. Larger firms may have the expertise, but their fees are typically out of reach for smaller businesses.
I often find myself looking up tax laws and providing accountants with detailed information just to get things done correctly. Most accountants seem reluctant to go beyond standard practices, especially when it comes to handling more complex setups, like an LLC taxed as an S-Corp. For example, when my wife set up a solo 401(k), our accountants had no idea how to properly allocate funds or provide the right guidance.
Recently, with her business facing a downturn, the accountant couldn’t even advise on adjusting her salary. She had to figure it out herself. This is our third accountant-the first was a family friend who primarily dealt with W-2 clients. The second, a local medium-sized firm, charged over $1,000 and only saved us $500, and that was because I personally researched tax strategies. Now we’re with a slightly better accountant who charges $800 a year for both personal and business returns.
I hope more accountants start leveraging technology and thinking critically about how to provide more value to clients. Just to illustrate our situation, we have a business, W-2 income, a brokerage account, assets outside the brokerage and home, significant dividend income, a solo 401(k), and we contribute time, effort, and money to various nonprofits. It shouldn’t be this hard to find an accountant who can handle that without constant guidance. If AI can now do the basics, why do I need an accountant until these accountants actually help with more complex tasks and of course AI gets better with math because right now it sucks. I may leverage my own LLM model to do what I already do and get a accountant that will work in the niche areas where LLM’s might get too confused because the tax code at times is inconsistent to appoint that you may need a tax attorney. If this technology could make a CPA focus their efforts on the law this would be an awesome thing, but I think it will take yearsbecause a lot of accountants even younger ones have an old mentality.
