I don't disagree with the assessment of the Santa Cruz video production. I do like santa cruz though for a couple reasons - 1. Erick Winkowski, his skating, his board shape, the graphics, 2. Legendary graphics by Jim Phillips, 3. Historical videos Wheels of Fire and Streets on Fire. I'll admit Santa Cruz does exploit their branding to the max in the world of mall sales. Thrasher and Vans sell as much if not more to non skaters but are still seen as the most core brands in skateboarding. Santa Cruz needs to keep making new art and keep their team stocked with innovative skaters, thats their legacy, and it does seem to be in jeopardy. Winkowski is a step in the right direction.
It’s just a bunch of skaters trying to ride off the insane exposure Leticia and sky have, doubt they will stick around long their mentality is probably gain the followers then leave after 1-2 years

EL-P had a long and very admirable career as a label head, producer and emcee. His solo albums are some of my favorite and Can Ox is a stand-alone masterpiece. RTJ however is basically his version of a guaranteed retirement, he speaks about how he was basically broke coming off of C4C on open mike eagles podcast. As a longtime El fan, my opinion is that no RTJ record has even come close to the soul or quality of anything that came out of def jux or anything close to that era.
