This song and performance are masterpieces. For real Rammstein fans Stein um Stein is on the top 5. Love it and can listen over and over. The obvious is that this song is about psycho and a bad relation. But I also see that it could relatate to Till's and the rest of the band members background in DDR where the leftist government built a wall and locked out all light by killing freedom and democracy, but at the same time used propagagande where it all was made to look shiny and perfect.
I loved what he did there... it was sooo clever...just a small detail... He didnt finish the song.. he didnt say the last word so no one "could hear him screaming" in the end.. exactly like the story in the lyrics...
Till's voice here is insanely deep and beautiful! I get what you mean by it's comforting even when it's something awful he's singing about lol. This is such an underrated song of theirs and I wish they played it live still.
The song is just perfect. The story has so many levels of narration. It could be about a relationship where one part takes complete control of the other's life and cuts them off from their social ties. Or it could be about life in the GDR dictatorship, where the regime controls and manages the lives of the citizens.
For quite some time my interpretation was the 1st one you mentioned. But something just didn't fit. Than it hit me. Of course they talk about how it felt to them growing up and living behind the wall. So im9 the 2nd mentioned interpretation nails it.
A message for Andrej and Dominika - this song is not about love, but about the demolition of the high concrete wall that divided Berlin /Ost and West/ in 1989... They demolished the wall and united Berlin again into one nation - and the state of Germany-Deutchland, from where comes the RAMMSTEIN guys !!
A metaphor for the Berlin wall I believe. They are all from East Germany and were “ walled” in. Terrifying. Possibly my favorite song. Rammstein is phenomenal.
The best band on planet earth. That complete Völkerball concert is a masterpiece. The sound is brutal. I really like the sound of the drums and the assembly of it. Simple as in the Live us berlin of 98, another masterpiece. Rammstein has it all and for all tastes. Greetings. PS: I think Nobody by Marilyn Manson, the official video is a good topic to react to.
It's really amazing how powerful Rammstein's drums are (also applies to base/guitar I think) while being incredibly simple. Go into most refrains and it's very simple beats with some cymbal action, but it sounds incredibly... large.
Love this song although I don't listen to it very often. Rammstein has the ability to set the mood with the music and melodies and this song is the perfect example of that. I find melodies in this song really special. And that Richard's solo always gives me chills. For me it perfectly pictures the screaming and horror. Love your reaction as well! 🖤
Hey, awesome reaction as always, thank you! One perspective of that song I have is actually: All band members come from east germany, former GDR. The country was walled in for 40 years and seperated from the rest of the world ("the garden") until german reunification. I think they are talking about this from the view of the GDR-government... but who knows, you always can interprete so much in Rammstein-songs!
Hi , i love all songs from Rammstein ! They are the best band in the world ! Kisses from me for your doggi and you ! Greatings and love from germany ♥️♥️🥰♥️♥️🥰♥️♥️
Wow! I’ve never heard about Meșterul Manole. Thanks for this story! Und natürlich sind Ramstein die Besten! They don’t just play music or sing the song, they tell the story. I don’t mind the story to be scary or sad. I want to listen. Thank you, guys! Your reactions are very cool and sometimes reality touching.

A few of their other dark songs for you- Klavier (live Aus Berlin version), Hallomann (album version) , Meine Tränen (album version) and Puppe (album and live version) . Can get those from EducatedMarine and Bucksttabu
Knowing that they were In Germany when it was divided by the wall and the struggles they went through on the west and east side is un imaginable and I’m sure this song plays a part in that.. stone by stone / wall

@@MerchantOfAlba That's a great myth story, thanks for sharing and taking the time to reply! I love your videos, especially Rammstein/Lindemann ones, even if sometimes you feel those are a bit too much you are never afraid to say so, and try new ones. Also as a fan i love when someone takes the time to really enjoy and analyze a song.
I call it the "Natasha Kampusch song", this case happened in Austria. A psychopatric man is kidnapping a 10 year old girl and for 8 years she had to live in a small room without window. Sadly it is not methaphoric, it is real. At the end she was the stronger part in this very sick relation and she knew it from the beginning: "Only one of us can survive".
it’s a metaphor for the GDR, moreover till goes before finishing it ^^ I suggest feuer und wasser puppe ( studio version) a song very dark but mesmerizing. Haiflisch (clip video is hilarious x) ) it took me years to watch the dvd of völkerball, because I wanted to keep my impression of this concert and this evening intact, now, with the memories which lose their color a little, it gives me so much pleasure to rediscover it and through the eyes of no one who discovers, because I really discovered rammstein at this concert ^^
I feel that this song is about his life behind the Berlin Wall. He grew up in East Germany.actually the entire band did. It probably is why he reacts the way he does.
As far as I remember, this is referencing the Wall being built in Berlin, and East Germany being walled in, no light etc but obviously Rammstein do this as a dark metaphor
I like you two very much. Your verbal diarrhea is fantastic, honest, I love listening to you comment, I really like your interpretation of the music I love so much. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
The song is certainly not about person X killing person Y in this way. As often with Till's lyrics, strong images are built up to trigger emotions and to tear the listener out of his comfort zone for the moment. Basically, as in other texts by Till, it is about the need of people or groups to exercise power and control over others, to take away their natural freedom and how far they go for it. This can already start in relationships, where after the fun one suddenly starts to lock the other into his imaginary world and does a lot to not let him escape. At school, group dynamic behavior, such as bullying, can keep the victim temporarily or even lifelong imprisoned in certain dispositions. Or power elites who make whole peoples the scourge of their own ideas and create nightmarish frameworks for it, in order not to lose control. After all, the narrative here is from the perspective of a perpetrator, the terrifying absurdity of the narrator's thoughts and actions in the context of the thought world of most of us. And even the phsychic disposition of the wielder of power is hinted at in the narrative and Till's portrayal. If the song, in the context of the lyrics of the narration and the music, creates an unpleasant feeling in the listener, it has achieved everything. From my point of view a whole strong song in the interplay of music, lyrics and interpretation of Till.
@@haraldmax9685 Actually, any kind of relationship you enter into. Everyone has to compromise, and that limits one's potential. I would say that the more a person suffers from loss fears and clings, he locks his opposite in a prison.

The guitars mirroring the insanity of the lyrics in a perfect way. It’s a complete work of art.
Exactly ❤
The song is a masterpiece, a horror story but beautiful…only Rammstein can do that.
The screaming guitar gives me the chills every time.
That's definitely one of their heaviest songs. What a vocal beast as well!
When Rammstein builds a House you can 100% assume that it won't be a happy House!

I have plans big plans
I'm going to build you a house
Every stone will be a tear
And you'll never move out again
Yes I'm going to build a little house for you
With no windows no doors
It'll be dark inside
No light will get in at all
Yes I'll make you a home
And you are to be a part of it all
Stone by Stone I wall you in
Stone by Stone
I'll always be with you
Without clothes without shoes
You watch me working
With your feet in cement
You brighten up the foundation
Outside there will be a garden
And no one will hear you scream
Stone by Stone I wall you in
Stone by Stone
I'll always be with you
I'll always be with you
What a pounding what a hammering
Outside it starts to get dark
All of the nails stand at attention
When I ram them into your body-wood
Stone!
Stone by Stone I wall you in
Stone by Stone I wall you in
Stone by Stone I wall you in
Stone by Stone and nobody will hear you scream
