Hello, I have a question. My toshiba shuts itself a lot. Is it because of cooler or fan ? and also I notices that when it opens, the fan does not work and the screen is black. I wait for 1-2 mins then fan works and screen works as well But, after a while fan stops and computer shuts itself down again.

I did all this and installed a new fan but now nothing :( I was so freaked out taking it apart and putting it back and feel like it is correct but won't boot at all?
+taktiktop No - nothing :( I am going to take it all apart AGAIN today and check connections. Not sure if fan prongs go up or down when you plug it in so I am wondering if I did that wrong? or maybe new fan is garbage?
+Dawn Sisson try to recheck the dc in (charging cable) and power button cables, make sure both of them are connected properly to their socket on motherboard
+taktiktop I checked power connection - it is fine. I just took it half apart and thought one of the boards was not pushed in all the way so I pushed it in tighter and put it back together again. This time it made a "faint" sound but then nothing. Power light and charge light are both lit up :( My only thing now would be fan I installed is bad (though amazon seller had good ratings) or I did not plug the fan in properly? do prongs go up or down when plugging in the fan? I will take it apart one more time before I give up.
i don't think it caused by a bad quality fan, however to make it sure u can plug your old fan to motherboard and one more thing, have u tried to replace your ram?
I m french teenager sorry for my english . How can i boost my Toshiba Satellite u940 . And can i change mi screan for a Better screan ? ( "a screan without sun effet " )
+Cedric Njonang you can add the ram to speed up your machine, screen replacement is probably not possible, because the screen replacement module probably only can be found at tohsiba center

Sounds like an overheating issue, especially if the computer shuts down shortly after the fan stops.
its necessary to dissamble every part to reach to the fan??

to remove keyboard follow this guide and then remove keyboard from the upper case ( top cover / top assy)
