    Thank you for recognizing Asian New Year! Many people on TH-cam that are not Asian do not try to recognize the holiday which is totally fine and understandable! But I love that you and your family are well cultured and can just about cook any cultured meals! For New Years, I made my household some
    Slow braised pork with hard boiled eggs. It’s a Vietnamese dish called Thit Kho. Would love to see you attempt cooking it some day... which I can send you my mom’s recipe once I can type it up! The lady never measures!!! 🤷🏻‍♀️😁 Again.. thank you for sharing this video!!! Happy New Year from my family to your’s! May you guys be blessed with luck, health and prosperity! 😃

    I have never heard of triangle chicken but I want to make it. Everything is incredible. I really hope that one day you will do a cookbook. A few videos ago, you gave us some great advice, and, of course, by the end of the video, I had forgotten to mention it, but you said how you package leftovers immediately into meals, rather than storing individually. ( i even remember you saying that in an older video, but I had forgotten) That is genius and even though I don't have children, it would help me so much. I need to find the link you gave and order a package of the containers. You are the best, Shelby, and I am so glad life is allowing you to have time to post more frequently again.

      Erika this took me back to the 70's and there was a Chinese restaurant in town, we would order this pu pu platter. The boys really enjoyed it.

    Maybe this year you will be able to use your own honey ? I am not sure how long it takes to establish a colony .

      That is a good question, we are just learning about beekeeping and I know you have to leave so much honey for the bees to winter through. I hope we can harvest some honey this year. Our village has a huge bee keepers association and they give four different levels of classes. But with Covid they haven't been meeting. Ken has a farmer friend who is mentoring him.

    Since my daughter is deathly allergic to shellfish I make crab rangoon with Lewis Kemp imitation crab meat.
    It tastes fantastic and since the imitation crab meat is a little sweet it adds that certain something for more flavor.
    I was a sous chef for a Chinese restaurant we used Lewis Kemp instead of real crab meat.
    To make the beef easier to slice thin partially freeze it.
    Everything you made can be frozen and cooked later.
    😄 I can remember making hundreds of crab rangoon, egg rolls, ribs, shrimp toast and beef skewers every week freezing them so all we had to do was pull enough out for an order then deep fry them

    Looks delicious! This might be a really stupid question but how do you prevent getting burned when frying? Whenever I place the food into the hot oil, hot oil splashes up like a fountain and I always end up burned.

      That is a great question. I try and get close to the oil so I don't make a splash and then place the item in the pan from front to back, so the oil goes to the back of the pan away from you.

    I have my sauce simmering for lasagna. Getting ready to cook noodles and then mix up cottage cheese mixture. I can't wait to try your lasagna.     Definitely going to be making the triangle chicken. One of my favorite Chinese restaurants used to have this on their menu but it was called “foil wrapped chicken.” My family will be excited to revisit an old favorite thanks to your recipe!

Better than the 20” they were forecasting. Not looking forward to the ice they say is coming along with it-but thank goodness we have the generator.

    Wow this all looks amazing, and gosh you make it look so easy. I don't fry food anymore, I wonder if some of this could be done in an air fryer or the oven? Funny story, I'm from Connecticut but live in California now and my husband was born and raised here, I told him what you were making and he was like "what is a pu pu platter", he has never had one and never heard of them before this, he did think it looked amazing and said "when are you making one for us". Would love to get an actual pu pu platter, do you know where we might look to purchase one? Thanks for sharing, this was an awesome video and I bet your family loved their meal.

    Are egg rolls just another name for spring rolls?

      That is a great question Trish, I think egg roll wrappers might be a little thicker, other than that I'm not sure.

      Egg roll wrappers contain egg so they cook differently than spring rolls that have no egg and cook up smooth and light. Spring rolls can sometimes come raw, raw veggies and a hydrated rice paper wrapper, served cold.

    Tip: My friend’s dad would add slightly underdone vermicelli (thin transparent kind) noodles into his eggroll mix to soak up any excess moisture from the cooking process. (Chopped them up after draining them)

    I make mine all the same except I use real crab and green onion and pinch of sugar for my crab rangoon recipe...I worked for local Chinese restaurant they taught me to cook.
