Ace is right. As great as Babymonster is and the song is cool too. They just didnt seem to match to me either. That being said I was pleasantly surpised by Ramis verse. She killed that rap!
To me this song is fantastic and powerful. The point of the song is to pay homage to hip hop and show how versatile they are. I mean why not, let the girls flex their talent on a song like this. 7 amazing individual artists that shine as a whole group, accept any challenge, regardless of the music genre. 7member gg that can rap, sing and perform like they do is unreal. Thats why they deserve more respect and love. What a year for them and YG. Big respect.
Honestly, saying they’re paying homage to hip-hop feels a bit off. The heart of hip-hop has always been about speaking truth, raising social issues, and expressing personal identities-not just flexing wealth. Hip-hop started as a voice for the voiceless, not just a style or genre to jump into. If Baemon really wanted to honor hip-hop, it’d be powerful to see them tackle deeper issues or bring their own unique backgrounds and stories into the mix. Talent is one thing, but staying true to what hip-hop stands for would be the real tribute
I couldn't quite figure out why i wasn't feeling it at first. I think you hit the nail on the head about it feeling forced. Watching the music video didn't help either - unlike the Drip video, it wasnt all that fun to watch. I like certain aspects of the song but not all together. This song needs to be split into two - the main part, with that haunting repetitive sound, would be better suited for a solo female rapper, imo. The last part - the electronic(?) beat- would be interesting to hear as a full song from them.
Everybody has their own opinions which is fine and it’s completely understandable that being said you should react to their other B-sides on their drip album guarantee you’ll like those songs better!
You don't believe it but have you watched the interviews where they talk about growing up idolizing Snoop Dog and Lalisa (whose first huge international hit was "Money")? Seen their evaluations as trainees where they chose raps by Joyner Lucas and Eminem? When they dressed up as Disney princesses in "Stuck in the Middle" they did a great job but many of them talked about how out of place they felt. Clik Clak is right up their alley. Also the members of the group have a huge amount of creative input in their work. In the comments: I see opinions about how YG is forcing them to do things that they don't want to do, but these young women sought out YGE for what it is. People may not like what they are doing, but don't pretend you know how they feel about it, when it's just you wanting them to be something different than who they are. Who they are is very versatile, as we can see by the other songs on the album, the rest of their body of work so far, things like the songs Rami selected when she was on Lee Mujin, etc. This kind of rap is one side of them. There are a lot of negative things about mainstream hiphop these days. That's a bigger discussion, and I hope Baemon moves away from those negatives. But we can at least respect them for doing what they want to do, and not assume they are being manipulated because they are not doing what some of us might want them to do. These are very strong individuals (and as a group) who who have been working with incredible discipline from the time they were 8 or 10 years old following their dream of being YG idols, in the footsteps of Blackpink, 2NE1, and, yes, the likes of Lee Suhyun too.
i’m a little confused bc honestly, when did we start taking k-pop lyrics literal? i feel like a lot of groups talk about falling in love, money, fame, power and yet a lot of them never experienced that (maybe except the fame part)

@@fullnothing3399 To anyone saying Baby Monster is a 'weak copy' of Blackpink - seriously? Both groups come from YG Entertainment, so of course they’ll have a similar vibe. When Blackpink debuted, people said the same thing about them copying 2NE1, but look at how Blackpink created their own identity and became global icons. Baby Monster has their own unique style and potential, and they're just starting out! Maybe they’re not for you, or maybe you’re just not their target audience - and that’s okay. Let’s give them time to show what they’ve got instead of comparing them before they’ve even had a chance to grow!
I can only partially understand the lyric criticism. Yes, I also think that BM songs are often lyrically not very good, but BlackPink songs never were either. and the argument about buying that what they say is real... well, we all know that there are songwriters who write the lyrics for them, so belief is not an argument for them, since we know that the lyrics usually don't come from them themselves In addition, for me lyric criticism is not necessarily appropriate for such songs, it is a pure fun song that is intended to hit hard, so the lyrics are rather irrelevant
I can only partially understand your comment. Forget the lyrics. I don't care about them. No one is buying their tough attitude. For a 'fun' song, they're taking themselves too seriously. They need a lighter touch in their performances. BM always look they're trying too hard. They do look 'cool', tho. Which may be enough for their target audience.
@lacanam poorly expressed by me. I didn't mean fun song, more of a vibe song. you shouldn't pay much attention to the lyrics or the video. either you can feel it or you can't. I find the argument that you don't buy it from them rather weak.. I don't know why do you think you have to buy something from them? Of course everything is just staged and planned by others in the background, but that's not a new insight
@@Aotjunkie It's not a weak argument. You said it yourself: it's a stage. A performance. So, you need to 'sell' it, in other words, be believable. A cute concept doesn't work if the girls don't look cute or know how to act cute. Everglow has always struggled with cuter concepts. I never bought into LOONA when they were trying harder concepts. Even if I didn't know who MB was, this video looks a bit fake, or 'forced' like the guys pointed out. This is a criticism to whoever is in charge of their artistic direction. I personally believe this group to be very talented individually. No hate to the girls themselves. But their company is not taking full advantage of their talent. A creative director that is not married to YG 'ways' of doing things, would make wonders for this group. So far, they're under performing.
@lacanam 1. sorry but if you buy something from a group even though you know it's set up... well then you're the problem... you also have to remember that most of them are underage, the group hasn't been together for a year yet and they've had so far All of them have little experience with so much attention from thousands or millions of people. This will grow over time, like BP. Now it is still far too early to draw a conclusion 2. You can certainly criticize Yg, but I think that they have been much more creative with BM than with BP or 2ne1. It feels like you've tried out more with BM, song-wise, than with BP in almost 10 years. which brings us to the next point. The group hasn't even been officially out for a year, so we can't judge yet. You also have to say that in a group of 7 people you will never see their full potential, there are simply too many members packed into one song.
@@Aotjunkie 1) I don't quite get your point. I think I was clear on what I said. I don't care about their age. Young Posse are younger/same age, they're doing fine. Why? They have a creative team that know what they're doing and know what they want from their group. Every opinion on a group is necessarily limited to the present. I can't speak for the future, obviously I expect the group to get better over time.. But other groups have shown more growth and a more solid artistic direction in a similar time frame. 2) Seems you're a YG stan. I'm a Kpop fan, not company stan, I give credit/criticism where it's due. YG criticisms are valid. The guy is suck in the past. He's doing some interesting things with the group, that's true, but he misses more than he hits. A 7 member collective will impose limitations for each individual, but that's not what I'm talking about. People hate the comparison, but look at XG. We're taking about synergy, and allowing every member to shine while producing a existing, fresh and cohesive concept. They're not without flaws, mind you, but they're creatively handled much better. They trying to move things forward their own way. They are unlike any group in the market. I'm not writing off BM, I wanted 'DRIP' (the album) to finally turn me into them. Didn't happen. Maybe next time, I'm willing to give them a chance, I just don't trust YG and his old ways.
These girls are teenagers. What do you want them to rap about: sex and drugs? Give them a break, everyone is acting a part in a music video. They can be princesses, baseball players, or "hard" if they choose to be. All movies, videos, cartoons don't have to be real life - ease up on them.
You're exaggerating. The girls don’t have to sing about sex, drugs, or wealth. Rap is a cultural expression rooted in Black American identity, meant to affirm and reflect personal experiences. Baemon could use rap to showcase their own identities as Asians coming from a foreign company, and in doing so, highlight the true essence of rap, even if they aren't Black Americans. I don’t understand why Baemon fans can’t take criticism; you always view it negatively instead of seeing it as an opportunity for growth
@ Rap has evolved into several different styles, genres, and expressions. I was stating that they could be legitimate rappers without submitting to a certain stereotype. Their verses may not have been poetry, but they don't have to be revealing, reflective, or deep to use the art form. The criticism was that "I don't buy them as rappers". Why not. What image do they have to summit to? Of course they are not hard gangsters, exposing life's pitfalls- but they don't need to be. They are actors, entertainers, and young. They should be allowed to play this role without criticism. Evaluate the song not the characters.
@@martindavis6067 I get what you’re saying, rap has definitely grown to include a wide range of styles, and there’s no single way to 'be' a rapper. They don’t have to fit into any specific image to use rap as an art form, and they deserve space to experiment. But just like with any performance, people are naturally going to have different reactions based on what feels authentic or convincing to them. Critiquing a song often involves how well the artists bring the vibe across, not just the song itself. It’s not about expecting them to fit a stereotype; it’s just about connecting with the message. They’re talented, no doubt, and they’ll keep growing in their own style

I’m not a huge fan of the lyrics but I definitely think the performance video helps to offset that
Rinalove4: I agree with you. The performance video is better and fits this particular song very well. Rami was hitting it with the bars, I was thinking, "I see and hear you, girl!!" 🙂 Her rap style was swag in this song and video, in my opinion.
No offense, the beat went too hard for those lyrics. Interesting indeed. Give XG or Blackpink that beat they will destroy it 😂
The track isn’t bad, the video was ok. But IMO the forest performance video they posted after the MV in black and white was WAY better, the choreo comes through better and it’s way more fun.

6:05 (bang bang lol)
@@ClaudyDay-jc6dg this was not a homage to hip hop.. more like dabbing into the genre..
Oh I can't wait for them to react to "Woke Up in Tokyo" 😂😂😂
We actually talk about it on this channel all the time. This is nothing new from us.

Batter up "blacpink copy" Stuck in the middle reaction doesn't suit these girls, they don't know how to express themselves. No wonder why this channel reacts to BM, of course it's about views. I agree about the lyrics in the songs... The girls are simply too young, they haven't experienced life, half of their life is busy with training. This album was supposed to show how versatile the girls are. I recommend b-side rather than title tracks

I can only partially understand the lyric criticism.
Yes, I also think that BM songs are often lyrically not very good, but BlackPink songs never were either.
and the argument about buying that what they say is real... well, we all know that there are songwriters who write the lyrics for them, so belief is not an argument for them, since we know that the lyrics usually don't come from them themselves
In addition, for me lyric criticism is not necessarily appropriate for such songs, it is a pure fun song that is intended to hit hard, so the lyrics are rather irrelevant
Now it is still far too early to draw a conclusion
These people are problematic....
explain how?
@@linkisaprismI can agree with you, I don't believe they should be above criticism. But they are criticized for being Blackpink, or 2NE1, and also criticized for doing something new and different.
