  • Nothing is quite as frustrating in BJJ as having a dominant position then losing it to someone who escapes.
Mount in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is a fantastic position for maintaining strong control.
But there are a ton of escapes to it, and it can be tough to hold against someone with really good control.
A really smooth escape that I've seen a ton of people use is the foot slide escape.
Which is where the person on bottom of Mount turns their hips, hooks a foot and slides that foot into Half Guard.
    It's a great escape for Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
In this video I show you a really simple adjustment of the feet to stop this Mount escape and then take Back Mount.
It's a simple jiujitsu technique that is incredibly powerful.
If you want to try this escape out in the gym. Bait your partner into it by allowing them to setup the escape and then let them get out.
If you're experiencing issues with people escaping your Mount during Brazilian Jiu-jitsu rolling or competitions.
Try this counter and back take!
    I hope it's helpful!

Fantastic! Thank you for focusing on teaching simple yet effective techniques. Always fun to see people show fancy stuff, but this is the type of thing that I can easily see working into my game. Thanks again!

If you hit it quick. . . it's looks fancy. But when you break it down, it's just small adjustments.

Enjoyed this cool technique. Can't wait to drill it. Thanks!!! I checked you out after I saw you on Eli's channel with the wall takedowns. Subbed, too!!! Awesome stuff, AND clearly explained.

Nice! Is there a way you can use the fact that you control both his legs at about 0:58? Or is it even an advantage you could have on someone? Feels like in a fight the guy would be stuck and suffer from strikes, but I don't know in a bjj fight. Feels like it's an advantageous postion...

Hey Chewi!! This one particular person at our gym has insane flexibility especially when it comes to her legs. It's so good that whenever I mount her she just swings her legs over ridiculously far and I have no choice but to lose position. Any tips for maintaining position or countering the legs would be appreciated :)

Hi, Steve and thank you for replying! Basically, I'm in full mount and somehow she swings her legs up even when my posture and pressure is down and puts her legs in front of my body kicking me off and I lose position. I'm doing everything you have said. I'm putting in my double grapevine, sitting higher on her chest (High Mount) and my body isn't even postured up it's still flat and I'm lying on her. The only time I release my grapevines is when I start to attack. No one else has ever gotten me with this like people often do try and swing their legs over as a defense when I'm in full mount but like I said she's so flexible that I can't seem to stop the loss of position.

Yo yo yo, can you use that latch you are pinning the bottom leg with to then triangle your legs together and take his top leg for options? are there any type of twister side control like stuff?

    • @Chewjitsu
      @Chewjitsu  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You can. This is just 1 way to do it. But there are lots of options.

Chewjitsu Thanks for the quick response I figured u were showing something with a faster comprehension, but I just also thought I could be wrong very very wrong haha. :3 Also I would really like to get experience here because whenever this happens to me I have to take modified mount or monkey mount I hear sometimes. whichever. Then I start fishing for a gift wrap in high mount to take the back and eventually get to twister side control lol.

Whats a good counter for that though incase someone uses it on me because that can be annoying or demoralizing in a real fight bjj vs bjj

fighting for a change that's a bad escape to use on the streets anyway. You'll get your face smashed in.
