Rest In Peace Chuck Berris. One of the most interesting Americans of our time. What a story his life was.

Chuck never worked as an assassin for the CIA.

The book was marketed as a novel when first published but the book (like the movie) bombed. The stuff in the novel became urban legend and at the point Chuck Barris started pretending that it was real.

He was probably just a confidential informant and saw enough to imagine himself a spook.

This is exactly what the CIA would say whether Barris was an agent or not.

I am reading this book. It's pretty good so I thought I would watch the trailer. Drew Barrymore, George Clooney and Julia Roberts in the same movie - no wonder I never bothered to see it. Guess I will stick with the book version.

This can't be true...they would have him killed for telling.

    • @Woozler554

Exactly. He never would have gotten the chance to reveal it.

@@Woozler554 nah, then it would be obvious that it was true. They would maybe try to kill him BEFORE publication. But once it is out there, no point in going that route. Better to just do the usual gaslighting routine. Most people don't pay attention, don't care, won't do anything, can't do anything, etc.
