Yes, they are appointed a birthday by a judge, on the recommendation of a doctor (who bases his guess on things like fusing of the skull and wrist bones), if they don't have one documented. It happens now and then with foreign adoptions or if the mother was mentally disconnected, living in a commune or other alternative lifestyle where they disregarded such things.
Turn the date of adoption, we can even change our birthdays if we want and we can change our names.. She would have had a whole birthday with a name change if they want it all picked out for the adoption... This is definitely bologna.. unless it was before they adopted her and then they gave her the choice to pick the same day as their biological child and that's just messed up

I call it Cuckoo Bird Syndrome. Where parents just outright mistreat their First Borns in favor of spoiling newer siblings be they adopted or not. The golden child in question is the cuckoo, which in nature are forcefully dumped into a nest of parasitized birds. Often kicking eggs out of the nest as the hatchling grows fatter than the parents. If any eggs survive the tantrum, the cuckoo often eats the usually weaker hatchlings. OP was having their life eaten by narcissists.

Even if a child is in an orphanage, they keep track of each child's birthday and other things that are needed in life. Child Service also keep tracks of that information. They even keep each child's vaccination(s) records. So, either the parents just did this for whatever reason or ... But somebody knows when the sister's birthday is.

My boys do have the same birthday, but I still treat them as individuals, two cakes, double the presents, etc. They have different likes/dislikes and different hobbies, I take both their expectations into consideration! OP, you deserve better, and your parents should be ashamed of themselves. Any adoption agency would have given her birth date with a birth certificate, even if they didn't know her real birth date. Also, they would have notified the parents who adopted her. Some people are so blinded and get carried away of doing good, that they forget to see their evil and vile actions and behavior and somehow feel they are justified in doing what they did. What child would not love to celebrate their birthday and OP gave up her birthday's at the age of 16, speaks volumes of favoritism and those parents celebrating OP's birth date as their adopted daughter's birthday was monster level character.

OP your parents used the victim shaming tactic when your hubby to be brought up them not celebrating your birthday. They knew that they'd been in the wrong for many years and didn't want to start to face up to the guilt of that this late in the game. They thought that they could easily sweep it under the rug again by blaming you for basically being easy to ignore. If I were you, I would leave them out of wedding planning and celebrations and when they whine about it just tell them that you didn't want to be a bother to them because something as insignificant as your birthday had been such a burden to them that they totally dispensed with even mentioning it, once they adopted your sister. I'd make that the first step of going low/no contact. Even if they were to PAY for some part of your wedding, I'd make sure that they couldn't get in the doors of the church or the reception location and then I'd post the pics of fabulous day on the net for them and everyone else to see along with your captions about how great it was to have your most supportive (chosen) family members there on your special day.

I’m curious if OP and her sister acknowledged her parent’s birthdays. I’m guessing the answer is yes. If so then that makes it so much worse that they didn’t acknowledge hers. My husband and I raised 3 children. We have always treated each one equally. They all grew up to be responsible adults, and we are very proud of them. Can OP’s parents say the same about their adopted golden child who still lives with them? The result of coddling the golden child usually does not end up with a favorable outcome for that child. He had difficulty right from the start and was behind on many things, not just educational material, including growth. When he started losing teeth, they began to have suspicions and took him to a specialist dentist (forensic dentist? I’m unsure of this term and if I am remembering correctly,) It turned out that he was not the age his birth certificate said he was. He was a full two years younger! His birth certificate was fake! Soon after, they moved away, so I never found out what else they learned, if his adoption had even been real or deemed illegal due to falsification of the adoption paperwork. If his bio parents had even given him up for adoption or if he had been stolen from them.
I just think these parents of yours, sorry, are stupid. Why would they think that it's ok to put to little girls in that situation. When you are little, you dont think about stuff like that. Little girls are excited in the moment and were having fun. Your parents should of realized that eventually it's not gonna work out. Especially the way they just stopped telling you Happy Birthday.
