Great content. I’ll be heading the academy in July and have MMA experience. I am in a local CDCR forum and there are a lot of people Who have no martial art or any experience in fighting or self defense. I will be directing them to your page
Check out our new book “Officer Perception, Surviving Danger” by Timothy Amdahl and yours truly SGT Steve Beast Larson. Two Veteran Officers take you through our world of danger, inside the prison. Available now on Amazon. www.amazon.com/Office.../dp/B095FNY36K/ref=sr_1_3...
Don't try too hard to present as a tough guy or something you are not. Inmates can see right through that. Be yourself, be authentic, firm and professional, you don't have to act like a tough guy. Flexing your muscles infront of inmates will get you laughed at. This is ridiculous and almost Comical. If you are respectful, fair and professional that is how you get respect, you don't have to try to be a tough guy or look like a threat.
Two kind of Corrections officers, those that whoop ass and those that give out pack outs to bribe or appease inmates. When three of our COs were jumped and getting beat with broom sticks by many inmates, I was fist in the dorm with officers by my side, and there was ass whooping delivered! There were officers that wouldn’t go in the dorm to help, and there were Officers and one Sergeant that catered to these inmates after they were out in isolation behind the glass in G2 at Hays State Prison. The Sergeant even gave at least one inmate his tablet back. Weak Officers. One of the Officers suffered severe injury to his eye. My point, you don’t walk in my shoes starting back in 1992 when prisons were not out of control and the streets were safe on the outside. My generation didn’t allow the nonsense in society like present day. Like me or hate me I don’t care, just don’t get in my way when it’s time to conduct business. I’m going to protect my people first. When I was promoted, I didn’t change and conform to the administration wants and needs. I was me! SGT Beast Larson, and I’m still me and true to my beliefs. It’s my day off and a big training day planned. Bye
@@sgt.beastlarsonThere's other types like guys who try too hard to be something they're not and get laughed at and never gains respect, one's who try to be tough guys and wind up being stabbed in the face and eventually terminated for something, and a 3rd type who is authentic, respectful, firm, fair and consistent who gains the respect of inmates automatically. The 3rd type usually has the easiest time throughout his career.
