    • @SHRModding
      @SHRModding 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@flyingphoenix113 its well known in the sim racing community that a lot of f1 teams start off with rfactor pro, with their own devs working with rfactor devs to develop the tyre model, physics engine etc into something more proprietary and suited to their use case. so every team who uses it will have an in house developed version of rfactor pro all with different tyre models and behaviours, laser scanned tracks and the ability (as was mentioned in the video) to easily change car physics data like downforce, setup, engine, weight etc. Ferrari uses a similarly developed version of Assetto Corsa (pro) as far as i know.

    Wish you would have gone into more detail of the actual simulation systems, as I understand the teams, specifically Mercedes use rFactor Pro for the on-track simulations, which again as I understand is the same physics engine we get in rFactor 2. From having driven lots of various racecars, but obviously not F1, I can say it feels exceedingly realistic with the right hardware. Incredible that we can have home simulators that are so very close to the real thing.

    Two questions:
    1. Are you allowed to input race data as it unfolds, into your simulator, to help narrow down the potential outcome? Or do you simple crunch the number and eliminate the incorrect ones as the race unfolds. I imagine the former because the permutations must be enormous.
    2. As you say, the computers allow you think about a race in a way that humans cannot. But do you ever compare the human to the computer? For example the lap you asked Lewis to put vs the lap he actually came in (Sochi 2021) vs the computer models/predictions?

    Does the simulator get better as the season goes on? Like halfway through the season you input the real drive info from past races into the computer to make it as realistic?

      We're constantly developing and evolving the simulator tool each week, with new input from the drivers, sim drivers and engineers, so it's something that is always improving and being developed

    What technologies do you use to code/build these complex simulations? I suppose it must have taken a lot of people and years to build this

    that monte carlo model would benefit a lot from quantum computer.

    Wondering what kind of tech stack it is behind it, how much of it is in house and what is licensed
    I imagine they used kubernetes for clusters

    Interesting that the technique for modelling the entire race sounds similar to how weather forecasts are done. Millions of simulations with slightly different parameters to try and get an idea of the most likely outcomes.

    Do you ever run simulations where there are opponents for the driver, either AI or human controlled? I would assume it would be helpful to test and practice how difficult driving in dirty air and overtaking could be at a certain track.
