    Most of those are no longer available in NA. I actually thought discontinued.
    I really like the Electrician. That Sheepsfoot blade is probably my favourite implement.
    Could be even better if the bottle opener was swapped for a file imo. Imagine if that had a 3rd layer for scissors.

    I’m 74 years old and all my life I thought the Swiss Army knives were novelty knives. I learned too late in life to really appreciate these knives, especially the Alox line. I recently bought the 93 mm Alox single blade and I love it. Now I want the Farmer X. Great video. Will watch more from now on. Thanks.

      I just discovered a new use for the saw blade..
      It works well to comb my moustache!! Just after a little trim it sweeps out loose hair...

    Nice video. My ideal 93mm is the hypothetical electrician duo x. Glad we have a lot of great custom sak makers.

    Happy I picked up a spare NOS alox Rancher now that they are discontinued. It has replaced my Soldier for grab-and-go EDC. You got a nice main blade, you got the reamer/pokey tool, you got the beer opener/light pry-bar, you got the pruner/box cutter.
    For urban carry I have my red SMS Rancher-X (still available NIB) and for a hike my silver Harvester. I don't care for the keyring, in fact I like it better to carry in a slippy. Great toolset, great build quality, great SAKs!

    Farmer-X was my first alox and still one of my favorites. However, since then I have begun to edc a swisschamp, and I wanted a better companion alox for heavier tasks with slightly less redundancy. I found this in the Harvester. All the best the alox line has to offer(Thicker blade, more robust cap lifter, amazing in-line reamer), with the addition of the pruning blade, and spare saw. It also pairs really well with a compact, for those who don't do chunky knives.

    Nice general overview, thanks!
    For my use, the perfect one would be the farmer x but with wood saw replaced by a metal saw/file (soooooo basically an Alox mountaineer! Or similarly on the small side, an also non existing cadet X).
    It's always amazing to me as there are tons of Victorinox knives around, but I always have 1 detail missing or "wrong"... Maybe that's actually the best market strategy, since this way I actually have bought waaaaay more SAKs than I really need 😁

    Thanks for showing all these side by side. I'd like to see more alox models made that feature tools like the inline phillips screwdriver, a good wood or metal saw, and the combo tool (which saves space & weight and allows you to squeeze in another implement!). I also wish they hadn't discontinued the Electrician - that short blade is really nice and I think that knife would make a great platform for an exceptional 3 or 4 layer alox.

    • @K4TAndMore
      @K4TAndMore  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think the Electrician is not discontinued. They discontinued the Rancher.

      @@K4TAndMore Ok. I checked the Victorinox site and I don't see it listed there anymore. Is it still sold in some other country?

      @@solidaudioTV If it's not on the Victorinox site it doesn't necessarilly mean that it's discontinued. I verified though and you're right it seems Elelctrician is discontinued and The Swiss Army 2 (pruner) as well.

    Harvester (or the 111mm Rucksak) is my choice for the outdoors,hiking etc. For Urban edc,I'd choose the Explorer or the Climber.

    I actually like the Swiss Army 1 as my every day carry along with the classic SD on my keychain. Very light weight and yet I have scissors, small blade, nail file, toothpick, tweezers and a large sturdy blade. I do not typically need to carry a can opener, cap lifter or screwdriver. Of course when I do anticipate needing more tools (e,g, on vacation) I take a larger Swiss army knife, usually the Explorer or the Outrider depending on the type of trip and the laws of the country with respect to lockable blades. Very good review sir.

    Some comments I’ve red say Swiss Army knives are great 👍🏻 but the steel does hold an edge for very long, I disagree I find the steel perfect 👍🏻 tough and corrosion resistant. How would you mark the Sak steel for 1 toughness 2 corrosion resistance 3 edge retention?

    • @K4TAndMore
      @K4TAndMore  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The steel is great I think, maybe not the toughest one but it's not a bushcraft knife. For the corrosion it's highly resistant nothing to say about that.
      Regarding the edge it's fine you can find other steels that are better for that but for Victorinox knives it's correct I think 👍

      Many thanks for having all these wonderful 93mm alox model in one video. I have the Pioneer X and Compact. These two are great tools but I prefer the alox versions as they are more robust and have more thicker tools than the 91mm cellidor versions. What caught my attention is the short hawkbill pruning blade on the SA 7.
      Cheers for helping me to get my next alox 93mm 👍
