I am 69 and I got 46/50. This has little to do with IQ. It is based on life experience and education....endless curiosity, self taught and a formal education, which is not everything.
43 out of 50 also 69. Agree based on experience, education and wide reading. A lot of reading
I scored well, as well, BUT did you notice that the questions were basically in one field? No Math, no biology, etc.
right, i got 42 myself. i'm dumber than dirt, but i like history. if these were modern science or math questions i'd be at the bottom of the list, lol.

32 here. Naming D-day "Operation OverLOAD" was hilarious, by the way 😂😂😂
Congrats, Pal, you are one of the few honest guessers. ;)
Overlord!
That one, and the incorrect answer for the Dark Ages amused me the most.
I never notice it, but it was the closest answer.

Well, I'm 50 and managed 40- but it doesn't depend on your age as much as what type of knowledge you've been exposed to, and how much you read and/or travel.
Yep I agree. where your interests are and how much do you read.
Totally agree
those are all things that makes up your IQ and memory
36 correct 😊14 wrong
I agree. It's more of a memory test than an IQ test.
38/50 - This was mostly a memory test, so not bad for a senior citizen I'd say!
I scored 44. I am a 50+ Swede and think this has little to do with IQ. Good teachers, though, and a general interest that motivates reading. I have done lots of IQ tests and not one thing here would have had anything to do with it. Intelligence is about understanding how to solve new problems, like maths and fault-tracing, not about remembering what you have learnt. But it is intelligent to read and learn 🙂
Nice Quiz. BTW it's Operation "Overlord" rather than "Overload"
That's what I thought. I said Overlord out loud and then saw Overload and was confused.
I was going to say same .
Me too. 41 correct answers.
Yes indeed
😮😮😮😅😅😅😮😮😅
I'm 65 and I got 48 answers right. That score has little to do with IQ. I was fortunate enough to have an excellent education and an excellent memory plus I love to read!
Great job
You sound a lot like me, except I'm 66 years old, received an excellent education, and am an avid reader. I got 13 questions wrong.
Well done. I only got 45. I'm 84. Can't believe I missed the gestational period of elephants. I'm a Republican; I should know that.
I just turned 73 a few days ago and got 41 right. So much of what I know isn't because of my IQ. I've always been a reader of different genres, I love learning about new places (If I read about one in a book, I have to stop and Google it) and a decent public education. Even just watching interesting little You Tube videos will teach you things. I've learned all about Saville Row and how mens' suits are made and how Merino wool is becoming scarce. Add in being a lover of crosswords and just talking to people about different things and there you have it. Don't ever let someone chastise you for watching You Tube.
Me too!

Thanks for keeping senior citizens mentally fit.
Big difference between being well read and having a good memory and having a high IQ.
It took me a long time to figure that one out. Everybody told me I was smarter than people I KNEW were smarter than me! An eidetic memory doesn't always translate into advanced reasoning skills.
agreed
na u must b stu ped....
Having a good memory, really doesn't help with algebra. One must know how to apply knowledge across the board and solve problems. People that can integrate all brain functions, just might have a higher IQ.
Absolutely correct. Typical of these quizzes.
I’m 80 and got 36 answers. Of course, some were guesses that I got right. Not bad for someone with just a high school education! I’m proud! 😊❤️

Well done. I'm 55yo and I was stoked that I got 35 correct and I had a few guesses too. I also finished school in yr 10.l so I'm feeling pretty happy right now 😆 I'm definitely smarter than I thought I was 🙏😊
Well done, I'm 60 and got the same score and we might have even shared the same guesses.
The main thing is not how smart you are but how you stay honest. I don't know how many I would have gotten right? I quit counting when I reached 40 and the red bar was only a little past half way?
its not too late for u to get a first degree
Really good quiz! I am 71 and I love these quizzes. They made me think, and I learn things, and remember things I;ve forgotten. got 47/50. Thanks.
Really enjoyed taking this quiz
I’m almost 69 and got 46/50
2 were I year off of the actual dates….
I wish my grandkids were here when I took it
It’s all about the education and reading we did growing up.
Children now a days would struggle with this quiz
They are not given a thorough education and play video games where we used to read!!!
I’m 72 and got all but two correct…. I credit good teachers 60 years ago!
Yeah. The quiz was mostly history you should have gotten in high school. My score was 45, and I'm 77 years old.
I scored 42 out of 50. You have to update the question on "Who was the longest reigning monarch in the world?" The correct answer is Queen Elizabeth II of England, who reigned from 1952 until 2022. and the name of the D-Day landing was called "Operation Overlord" not "Operation Overload".
I thought Queen Elizabeth II! I was surprised to get it wrong
@@linpollitt8950 You got it right.
@@linpollitt8950 Me too! Guess I scored 41 then.
Queen Elizabeth ll is the longest serving monarch in Great Britain at seventy years. Louis XlV is the longest serving monarch in the world (France) at seventy two years.
Yes, I was surprised to get that one wrong - but now it seems that it was their answer that was wrong. Extra point then?
71 years old and got 50 right. I even got the one right that had an incorrect answer listed. It was “Operation Overlord”, not “Overload”. I wish these quizes were a little more difficult. I think the average high school graduate should be able to pass this one.
I only got 45, but you're spot on about how easy almost all the questions were. Anyone who passed high school should have gotten them.
43 out of 60-- not to bad for 82,and a drop out. Hated history , but love it now. Should have went with some instints, oh well...
43/50 However, I read somewhere that I.Q. is not a measurement of what you know; it's a measurement of how you think. This was more of a memory exercise & it was Fun. Thx!🤓
yes
Right. A high IQ will not help you with this quiz. It is just memory that does it.
Yes- and a capacity for taking different perspectives, detecting patterns etc.
I agree.
I got 7 wrong
IQ (in theory) measures how well you learn. This is highly contentious, though. Some say it's fairly meaningless, while others think the opposite.
Getting a high mark
in a quiz on General
Knowledge is not the
same as having a high I. Q. 😊.
General knowledge quizzes rely
on memory , and the ability
to recall , i.e., remember ,
knowledge . 🦉📖😊.
I. Q. Levels are an indication
of a person's ability
to solve problems : typically
puzzles they haven't
necessarily seen before .
If a person has been introduced
to I. Q. puzzles generally , e.g.,
as a child, they will do better later
than if they have NEVER
seen an I. Q. puzzle before 🤔.
Hope that explains the difference !
Best Wishes from "Brainy England" !
( and modest with it ! 😊)
😊🇬🇧📖🦉🎈💕📖😊🇬🇧
I agree.
Very right.
So in other words, you failed miserably? 😂😅🎉🎉🎉
with adequate EQ.. IQ is worthless
Yes, you are right, on the subject that good general knowledge is not the same as high IQ.
But for me, at my age, it was quite pleasing to find the memory banks are still okay, at 75

So having 100% up to question 11 when Overload was given as the answer instead of Overlord, I pretty much wrote this off as twaddle.

This was ridiculously easy, and the gentleman mispronounced his way through most of it. Also: "Overlord." What a low bar we have in our country.
There were a few general knowledge questions, concerning (I think) chemicals, but you're right in general. Almost all of the questions were ones you should know from high school.

35. Was not expecting so much history and specific dates. 56 and haven’t seen a classroom in decades. I would say a high score here means you had a great interest in world history when younger and still have a good memory. Not so much on the IQ. But everyone pretty much knows that

Welcome 🙏🏻 ❤️
I love it !
Auroras are not caused solely by solar particles interacting with the Earth's magnetic field. The magnetic field guides them into the Earth's atmosphere along the field lines, whereupon they interact with the electrons in atoms of atmospheric molecules causing them to quantum leap to higher orbitals, and then release photons of light as they drop back down to lower energy state orbitals.
So you got that question wrong then?

Good stuff. I'm 54 and got 31 correct. Mainly I didn't know the stuff asking specific years because...reasons.
I'm 74 and got 46 but quite a few were just educated guesses! I also agree with others that having a good memory for facts has nothing to do with having a high IQ. What about creative thinkers who can think outside the box? What about inventors who create something amazing. I watched the Beckhams on Netflix and he said he didn't do well in school and wasn't very intelligent. I would disagree completly with that. Just because he is not academically minded doesn't make him unintellient! Look where he is today! I would argue that it takes a certain amount of brains to be as successful as he is. I think we all have something different & gifted in our make up and for him it was football and it took him to the top. It's up to us to find what it is that makes us different. I'm not bragging here honestly, but I am an artist and I read a lot and my interests lie in the Humanities, yet I ended up with a BSc Honours degree! A Science Degree! I still marvel at that as it should have been a BA. Also my degree is the only one that does not require maths which I am hopeless at, as I have Dyscalculia, which is like Dyslexia, only with numbers. I am terrible at maths and get really, ridiculously, confused as I cannot remember the system you need to work out a maths question. Yet I remember words with no problem. Yet people might look down on me and class me as a bit thick when i can't work out the answer to something that might be ridiculously easy to others. We might all have something different and gifted inside us, and it is up to us to work out what that is.
Im 74 and got 44 correct. I'm a retired teacher...it is better to know what happened in relation to other events rather than when they happened. Great quiz.😊

so did I and I am 68 years old
I'm 89 and I scored 41 but that's because I received a real education instead of the feel-good stuff that schools serve today.
What is the feel-good stuff? I have grandchildren in school, when my granddaughter was in 4th grade she was loaded down with so much homework, that she basically got off the bus, had a snack started homework stopped to have dinner, back to homework until her mom came to pick her up at 8 pm. She had 3 different classrooms, not counting PE., they said it was preparation for middle school which started in 7th grade. Every state and school is different, you have no idea what children are actually going through. These kids have so many books in their book bags that it is giving them back problems. There is no feel-good stuff, don't believe all you hear from the repubs, they have no idea what schools are actually teaching, in fact, the high school in my area has really good elective courses for the Juniors and Seniors, not just shop classes, they have lawn mower repair, they have a greenhouse where they learn to run a nursery, a small animal's veterinary course, courses in learning to do hair, home ec is now a culinary course where they learn about the restaurant food industry. These courses are for those who are not looking to go into higher education so that they can have a trade when they leave high school. So you have no idea what goes on in any of the schools today.
the gop have purposely destroyed public schools to justify privatization..
@@Violet316 It is the range and depth that is frequently not studied anymore. Often the curriculum is project- or theme- based rather than academic nowadays: heavy books are not the point! Depends on the school still though. Like the sound of the practical stuff you talk about - useful for kids.

I would have an entire sheet with maybe 25 problems everyday in my math workbook, and we had a hardbound text book too, we had multiple readers. I was taught to read by phonics and they try to hand out a sheet of 100 words at the beginning of the year and they were told learn these and she could read because she would try to read books that didn’t just have those 100 words and she didn’t have the skills to sound out a word. I started homeschooling and I started over and taught her phonics and now she can read but she still lacks confidence. I think they deliberately want dumb American kids who are only interested in sex. They want those books in the schools.
I'm 72 and got 39/50. Enjoyed the quiz.
I'm 71 and I got 33 correct answers. I have to admit, I was good at guessing at some of these questions. This was fun.
35 correct
Amazing 🤩
Fun quiz! I'm 61 and got 9 of them wrong. I love learning things from these quizzes🙂
I'm newly age 71- I got 8 wrong and 42 right. Thank you for the challenge.
Culture and History test; 45/50
I got 37, 70 years old and there big difference between good memory and IQ, I'm just well read especially military history which helps by coincidence social history.
Excellent questions with a wide variety: 45 / 50, 5, however, was guessing. I am happy with my general knowledge at age 73, but need to improve. Ha, ha,ha
I am a British 76-year-old female and I scored 43...not bad for an old girl.
Fancy a night out at the pub quiz this wednesday?
@@IntelligentArtefact Absolutely!
38 correct and history is usually not my bag.
I scored 42 I’m 70 years old. Thoroughly enjoyed the quiz.
71 years old & got 35 correct... Better memory than I knew! LOL
16 wrong.
After seeing some of the comments below, I'd say I only got 14 wrong. The longest running monarch and the D Day question.
I'm 65. Also, I agree with some of the comments about your IQ. An IQ is what you know about general knowledge in a large number of areas. They take several hours to complete. I have done 3 such tests in my life time. When I was 9, 25 and 29. The test I did at 25, actually taught me something; I realized that I was very good at spatial recognition.
I'm 68 scored 42 found It was a little fast paced I like to read the question B-4 I answer.
Thank you QuizTime 👍👍
46/50

I am 100 old and got all answer right !
I am rather sleep deprived at the moment, but got 42, second guessed a few too many times, should have gone with my gut!!😊 great fun!
I'm in shock. I only got 8 wrong. 42/50. Quite a few were good guesses but some I really knew. I think the ones I got wrong were ones I had never heard of, LOL.
Nice quiz, I ended up with 34 right and 16 wrong. That was a hard one
