Hi Ross love ur oliver content ,I have alot of Oliver's my self , I have a 770 with checker board plastic grill ,power steering works but right turns really hard and left turns are ok any think u can recommend ???
I’ve got a payloader and a tractor that need alternator replacements. I need to just bite the bullet and get 2 new one and do my own wiring and just get it done
We need to start a go fund me for Ross for a shop it looks like a mess of unorganized chaos there how he finds anything is beyond me but would it make it more better idk
You should lay out a new wiring loom and wrap it in tape like it would have been done, It might be simpler than trying to make old stuff work, especially when people in the past have repaired a wire and used whatever color they have. Tractors are far simpler to rewire as there are many fewer circuits.
Enjoyed watching and thanks for the explanation. I need to have my MF 65 generator rebuilt, it's been on there not charging since I got it in 1990. Good luck on the rest of your 880! Have a good weekend.
That will charge, with out any thing on the Af ,it just takes RPMs, some on my tractors ,I put bigger pulleys on them , so it spins faster , and I hook straight to the hot side of the battery, for 30 years or from the year that delco went internal regulated, I have had straight wire from the battery hot post to the nut peg on these alternators ,no problem at all ever, yes it needs excitement and I achieve that with bigger pulleys on my alternators ,for the faster RPM to pull the engine ,the faster the alternator starts to excite thanks , ,Im the first out of the bulb to figure this out ,,,I’m a smarter than a average and ,Iam a genius, thanks BigAl California ,,,praise Jesus Christ grace amen
I think your one of the best engineers I've been around
You need the backet that bolts on that alternator when they are mounted on gm cars
A couple improvements at a time should eventually end the 880 battle!!! Ought to be a good horse for the Oliver collection.

Nice video Ross. The 880 is getting better all the time. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your time and effort entertaing my simple mind.ross appreciate it

Nice job Ross
It took 3 alternators (neverlast) for me to work ground for 27 acres of corn in the 4-210 this spring
I learned something here

great video
Hope you get there with it
Ross, looks like you're making it much much much much more better thanks Michael
Thanks Michael!
Make it more better so we can see the old girl work again. One of my first tractors I had was an 880 but it was sad.
Are you opposed to one wire alternators, rather that three wire style?

How much more better can a wonderful Oliver unit be made?? Ross can tell you....

👨🔧🚜👍👍
👍👍👍👍👍
😄👍👍👍👍
The only problem i see is the fan on the alternator is running backwards so the alternator may not cool properly and burn out faster
It’s still turning the same direction. It’s on upside down, not backwards
We got a 15 in regular truck tire put it on it or if you have a 16 in truck tire and put it on it ain't going to hurt nothing
Can you tell me the difference between a 17, 18, and 1955?
Shorten that bracket
You need to just make a new bracket
There is proably a reason delco engineers thought an alternator pivot boss needed 2-1/2" of material vers 3/4" just saying😮

A smaller pulley on the alternator would make it spin faster.
Not really irreversible, just rethread it if you need too
