This is my hometown!! Great people!! I have been to all three of these places. The bowling alley, skating rink and water park. Thank you for making this wonderful tribute. I’m also a new subscriber.

The movie theater was actually my favorite part. Cashed my first ever paycheck and watched a movie there that night. Hated when it closed down.

I can’t describe how seeing this makes me feel. I personally have never gone here but I wish I had been able. Every time my family and I passed by here, I was very interested and wanted to know what it use to be. Thank you for giving the history of this place.

You did great on this. It brought back so many memories. Thank you for taking time to travel to this once amazing place, shooting, editing and sharing the footage for the world to see. New sub here.

Very sad to see. I remember when this was constructed. The roller rink came along just in time for me. I loved any opportunity to go there during my high school years. Not long after that, roller skating wasn't very popular as everyone moved to inline skates & skated outdoors. I did spend a lot of time in the cinema over the years but not after Mr Fugate passed & then, not long after that, I moved out of state. This breaks my heart. I'm grateful for my memories & in my minds eye, I still see all the parking lots so full it's hard to find a parking space. Young people sitting on the hoods of their cars with their sweethearts waiting for the late showing. They say all good things must come to an end...must be True. Those Fugate boys tried to do anything they could for our little community & they did do it, & very well. Too bad, they just don't build men like that anymore 😢

I am from Pikeville, and in 1993 I was 16 yrs old.. Me and 2 other buddies heard about this place and we wanted to come, but we were pretty young so our parents were nervous to let 3 16 yr old boys drive 2 hrs & 20 min away..
But we did on a Sat morning and as luck would have it, I met a girl there that was from Hindman..
We dated on and off for a few yrs and I lost track of her... I miss her a lot, but I Really Cherish our meeting at Fugates.. I was there 2 or 3 times in the 90s, and it was a Very Special place... It was so sad to watch this video.. It was almost like a piece of your childhood was gone, and it really is gone now... God the 80s and 90s were the BEST..... No cell phone or internet to interrupt real life... The things that were Really important like going to Fugates for a good day...
We didn't know what we had....😢

How far is this from La Citadel? I vaguely remember staying up at that hotel in the early 90's and going to watch Jurassic Park in the theater

It’s not to far at all. Maybe 5 miles. I’m from Hazard!

Grew up here, lots of memories at Fugates. Flirting with girls, hanging with friends, and fist fighting in the parking lot, lol. Great vid but stop saying "few-gate", its "few-get" in hazard.

Sounds like it was a great place in its time and ran its course. Times change and it starting to suck more all the time. Used to be things changed for better for the most part but now we all get the bs screwed!

Can you just go here to explore or is their security on site

😂 it's eastern Kentucky. They don't have money to "secure" trash. Go explore. Eastern Kentucky is full of abandoned places, and noone will pay you no mind. There's nothing else to do down there, but explore.
