My husband proposed to me on the adults only beach of Castaway Cay in 2016. One of these days I'd love to go back and reminisce. Thanks for doing a video on the amazing island!

I’m glad you had a positive experience there. Me? Not so much. I was probably ~9 years old. I was on an inner tube and the current started pulling me out. The life guard just kept yelling at me “Come back!” My brother had to swim out and save me as the life guard sat there doing nothing. I was almost literally “castaway” at Castaway Cay.

Great video. It's amazing how they can take an island, and put in all the support items, such as generators, fresh water, toilets, and garbage collection. Not to mention police, and hospital. Basically a city on an island.

The cartel story alone makes me want to visit. So fascinating to think that it went from a criminal island to somewhere intended for families. That landing strip used to have a really dark history and now families take their kids for a casual walk along it.

When I was on a Disney Cruise, the final stop at Castaway Cay was cancelled because people were getting sick. There was also some kind of Kim Possible scavanger hunt to stop the villian from stopping our trip to castaway cay, and I thhought his plan worked. I think i was six at the time.

I’m not sure how you would make a full video on this but you should talk about the history of the Flying Dutchman prop boat at castaway key I would like to see how they transported it and what maintenance was like on it up until it’s destruction (by hurricane a cast member told me many years ago) I loved seeing that boat every time we pulled in and got up close when we rented a catamaran

Seems like a really good investment. I recently looked up what it costs to dock a cruise ship on the Bahamas for a day and calculate it would be at least $40 000. So if Castaway Cay is used about 300 days a year, that would save them 12 million a year or 240 million in the 20yrs it's been Disney property.
