Thank you all for your kind words about my video; I'm so pleased you like the project 🥰
I've had a couple of questions about the bookbinding cradle I used. This is actually my husband's design, which is available in my Etsy shop if you like it: houseofmahalodesigns.etsy.com/listing/1720152576 😊 xoxo
Terrific, quick notebook. I learned 2 new tips from watching. #1 Cutting the back cover 1/2 inch wider than the front creating the spine was genius. #2 use my bonefolder to press down the bobbin thread. Even on the video you can see a noticeable difference. Thank you for teaching us something new.
Aww yay, I'm so pleased to hear that 🥰💖 I always hope to share new tips when I can 😘😘
What a great idea! I’m glad you covered the snake! 🌞🦋
Thank you Claudia!! Ooh yeah, not my fave page that one lol 😅
Hello sweet friend. Surprise! Remember me ??
I’ve been missing you and thought I’d stop by say hello and get some inspiration from you today !
I’ve been unwell but , getting better. Mostly migraines but they are a real beast and leave me feeling exhausted. It’s so wonderful hearing your voice and watching your process .
So happy you did not choose the 🐍’s 🫢
I’ve NEVER seen anyone video an entire journal “note book “ on video EVER ! Well done Justine 💜
OF COURSE I remember you!! Hello! I've been thinking of you but I know the past few years have been tough on you so I didn't want to put any pressure on. I used to suffer from migraines terribly through my teenage years, so I know how awful they can be. I hope yours get better soon xoxo
Great idea 💡 👍
this was a fantastic video! I am going to watch again on a regular sized screen! Thank you and hello from Canada!
Aww, thank you so much! I'm so pleased you enjoyed it... and hello from Bristol, UK 😀💖 xoxo
These are so pretty! A wonderful gift idea! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!! And yes! These would be lovely gifts 🥰💖
Just adorable such a cute detail for someone special.
I'm so pleased you like them 🥰💖
Beautiful notebooks, thank you for the lovely tutorial
Thank you so much; I'm so pleased you enjoyed it 🥰💖
❤Love these Beautiful notebooks!!❤ Thanks for sharing your process!!😊
Thank you so much Lori - I'm so pleased you like them 🤩💖 xoxo
26:00 beautiful journal! Love Edith Holden book. Where did you get the tool that you punched holes in??? And what is it called? Thank you❤❤
Hi Tammy, thank you so much for your kind words. Aren't we so lucky to have Edith's illustrations to play with? 😀💖
Do you mean the bookbinding cradle I used? That's my husband's design, which is available in my Etsy shop here if you like it: houseofmahalodesigns.etsy.com/listing/1720152576 😊 xoxo
You can never get too much of bookbinding processes! Every person focuses on a different detail - like I didn't know to go in and rub over the sewing holes after pamphlet stitching. And, Edith Holden. Always time for seeing her work get used 🥰
Aww yay, I'm so pleased you found it helpful to see this lovely 😀💖
Yeah, I just found it makes it look a lot neater afterwards.
Edith forever - I don't think I'll ever get bored of using her images either xoxo
I love your notebooks. I especially like the one with just the title and ribbon closure. It's simple but beautiful.
I did like how you made the back cover a half inch bigger to attach it to the front cover. I haven't seen that before.
TFS ❤
Thank you so much! I'm so pleased you like them 🤩💖
I’ve just come across your channel. I wanted to say I’ve definitely got something out of seeing you binding. It was news to me about being careful with the awl. And good to know to add paper clips to the pages before you bind. I tried making my first book the other day and I had papers going everywhere & ended up wonky lol
Aww yay! I'm so pleased 🥰💖
It's just one of those things where you pick up little tips along the way or notice things the more you do it. I wouldn't worry too much about wonky - as you can see - even with my best efforts to keep things in line, pages can still slip. Thankfully with JJs, we don't have to expect perfection eh 🤩🥰
Thank you for the ideas. I have a lot of Edith Holden.
Does anyone know about copyright on the book pages if selling in a craft fair in the UK ?
Hello lovely, I'm not a lawyer, but I will share with you what a friend told me (she's much more knowledgeable about these things than me). She said we can use the book pages in their original form (it's considered fair use), but we're not allowed to scan the pages, photocopy them, sell digital copies of them, etc. We also need to be careful of infringing on any trademarks such as the Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady brand, which is why I refer to my journals as Edith Holden journals rather than Country Diary journals. I hope this helps :-)
This is a lovely simple video, to show how to create an easy notebook. Thank you, from a new subbie. :)
I'm glad you enjoyed it Ellie 🥰💖 Thanks so much for subscribing xoxo
Enjoyed watching, pretty notebooks💙🪻🩷
Thank you lovely 😘😘
🤍🤍🤍🤍
What do you do with tons of journals? Do you sell them?
Hi Natalie, yep - I sell all my journals. Mainly on Etsy or via TH-cam 😊💖
Lots of great ideas! Thanks so much.
I'm so pleased you found it helpful 🤩💖
❤️
Silly question, but I really want to know. Who is Edith Holden? Is she an author and you use her pages from her books or does she make digitals?
No worries about asking lovely 😊
She was an artist in the late 1800s to early 1900s and she kept diaries about plants she was seeing out on her walks. I believe it was her great niece or some such relation who later found her diaries and had them published in the late 1970s as reproductions. It's those books from the 70s that some of us now use in our journaling. I hope that helps 😊💖 xoxo
@@houseofmahalo, I so enjoy your work!!!! I’m impressed with the way you talk yourself through the ideas in your mind. I watch and rewatch daily. New sub and always give a thumbs up.
@@sonyiawinfield3020 Aww that's really sweet, thank you very much for that. I'm so pleased you're enjoying my videos. I love being able to come on and show what I'm doing 🥰💖 xoxo
TFS! These are beautiful! I am definitely going to make some, as now I have 6 copies of Edith Holden’s book, so I won’t feel guilty cutting one book up. New subbie from Northern Alberta, Canada 🇨🇦.
Oho!! You have a nice little selection there too then 😀💖 I hope you have fun making them... enjoy! And thank you so much for subscribing 😘 xoxo
Love these! Fabulous idea ❤
Yay! Thank you - I'm glad you like them 🥰💖
TFS, these notebooks are absolutely gorgeous. I only have one copy and am stingy with/it. 😂. I don’t come across them that often and if I do they are quite pricey. But I’m going to try this concept w/different book pages. 😊
Thank you so much! I'm pleased you like them 🤩💖 Aww yeah, we're very lucky in the UK for them to be much cheaper. I don't blame you being stingy lol 😅 But yes!! This would work with any book pages really - have fun making yours xoxo
I love this ❤- is there anywhere that I can found those papers Edith Holden? Don't know if it's a digital kit? Being a newbie is confusing sometimes....Big Hugs from Lia 🇸🇪
The Edith Holden pages come from a book called The diary of an Edwardian lady by Edith Holden which can be bought ebay, Amazon and other book retailers
@@irenehook9722 Thank you!
Hi Lia, thanks so much for watching 🥰💖 I see the lovely Irene has explained about Edith Holden - her books are like gold dust to us junk journalers lol 😅 I'm going to be doing an "Ask me anything" video later this month, so if you ever have any questions about JJs just give me a shout and I'll make sure you know when the video is up. I appreciate there's a lot to this craft in the beginning 😅💖
Thanks so much for explaining this to Lia, Irene 😘😘
@@houseofmahalo Many questions occur all the time - I'm a mixed media artist - art journals is no problems, but JJ's needs a whole dictionary by it self. It's really scary when not understanding words that are used, mean. Especially when English isn't my first language - & everything is in English - measurements etc. But I want to learn what I cant. (been a subscriber on your channel for about a year now). So I'm glad to learn this today. Need to find the books now - which I have, but I wish we had flea markets in Sweden too. Love vintage items. Thank you so much!🌸💕
❤the notebook journals, especially using Edith Holden book pages
Thank you so much, I'm so pleased you like them lovely 😀💖 Edith makes everything pretty doesn't she? lol xoxo
This was very helpful. Great idea! Can't wait to do my own!!
Aww yay, I'm so pleased to hear that 🥰💖 Have fun making yours xoxo
Great job!!!
Thank you so much 🥰💖
Love them! Here in the states Edith Holden books are harder to find and quite expensive. I've managed to find a couple. You have quite a stash. I'm always on the lookout for more. Have a great day Justine! Happy crafting.
Aww thank you Jennifer!! I'm glad you like them 🤩💖 Ahh yeah, we're definitely lucky over here to find them cheaper. If you ever want me to keep an eye out for you, just let me know. Although I imagine the postage would be a little pricey - I don't know if it would work out cheaper for you taking that into account? 😊 Xoxo
World of Books. WOB. has gently used copies of Edith Holden books for reasonable prices. Some offer free shipping, some add shipping, make sure you look to see if it's Hardcover or paperback which could be more or less expensive.
I’ve never had an Edith Holden book! Y need some of these papers!
@@marciakaczmarek6761Thank you!!
Hi Justine! Love this mass make with Edith Holden papers!
Aww yay, thank you!! I'm so pleased you like them 😀💖 xoxo
What a great idea for using up the left overs! They look lovely 😍💜
Yay!! I'm glad you like them 🥰💖
I love these. What a cool way to use my Edith Holden pages!
Aww yay!! I'm so pleased you want to give them a go - have fun! 🥰💖
Another gorgeous creation, Justine! July 1st is Canada Day so Happy Canada from across the pond!
Thank you so much Catherine 🥰💖 And aww I didn't know that - Happy Canada Day! Do y'all get a day off to celebrate? 😊 xoxo
@@houseofmahalo We sure do!
They are fairly quick but quite lovely!
Thank you Susan!! Edith Holden certainly makes it easy for us 🤩💖
Absolutely stunning Justine ❤ brilliant idea to use the Edith Holden cover sheets for the front as covers and you chose beautiful scrapbooking papers to complement them. Im sure if you put them in Ersy they will sell. ❤
I'm so pleased you like them lovely 🥰💖 I'm glad I finally thought what to do with them ... they were piling up lol 😅 xoxo
And thank you for your encouragement!! I think I will try and pop them into my Etsy 😊🥰
How much will you be selling them for? I am never sure how to price handmade items online or for a craft fair.
@@Emmy._.-._Journals For these ones, I'd probably charge no more than £10 or £12 each here in the UK. For larger journals I've embellished, the price would be much higher... I usually base it on how many hours have gone into it, how many supplies I've used and what size the journal is. Everyone's different, but I'm happy just as long as I've sold mine for what I consider a fair price for the work gone into it :-)
Beautiful books!
Thank you so much 🥰💖
Fab idea ❤ love them
Aww thank you lovely 🥰💖
