Thank you for the resources - I really appreciate them. I've still got to work through your shape builder video and then this one so I think I'm going to be busy for a while.
Looks like I’m going to be busy with the shape builder tool! Thank you for posting such inspiring videos, I enjoy working with symbols, so definitely going to try this out.
I follow you on youtube since about 2013. I'm glad to see you're still around and active =) To be honest, I don't remember exactly if you already had the channel back there or if it was only the blog.
yeah.. no.. nothin gI do with the shape builder ever acts close to what it is in the video. this is day 3.. I get it. you select the bits you want to make a new shape from and by missing out the overlapping lines you can make it look like its going over and under.. EASY. When I do it. I get left with a negative selection and no visible change to the pattern, or just a new white shape the same size as both the fill line and the outer lines with gaps where the black should be showing through.. no black outlines any more. a random mix of the finest select lines for this week's catalogue of finest lines.. but none of the bits I chose. If I select the group like you do in the video I do not get the intersecting markers on the junctions. I am so bloody-minded I have taken 3 more sick days from work to figure this out as I am pissed right now. and no I do not want the templates as I am now determined. I have been trying this now for 16 hours and im on my last legs xD.. I lost count what project I am on, the good news Is I can get up to the shape builder part blind folded. I have no idea if anyone one else is having any issues with this.. or if I am simply just too stupid to follow a tutorial.. like I said I am on my I lost count which project I am on now it behave the same on them all.. randomly
I don't know what the problem is. There are a lot of possible issues with the shape builder [action setting [I suggest turning all off and creating a new shape once you are done selecting], too small areas to select, parts not separating as they are either looping [creating an x-crossing with no shape going over - cut the line into two parts before expanding] or not completely overlapping [leaving a connection - check the lines and make sure they properly run over each other before expanding]. It always helps to work on the principles with simpler objects to understand the workings of the shape builder. This video is an advanced video - and probably one of the most complex tutorials I have recorded. I would recommend watching the 'Basics of Shape Builder' video I recorded recently: th-cam.com/video/CnsHz_sOMPc/w-d-xo.html Should it not help feel free to email me your file and I will have a look and see if I can find the issue[s]. Best of luck! i
@@2dgameartguru omg goodness i never expected a response from you! I am just as lost, as far as i can see, I have the exact settings on screen as you have. I will try what you have said & go over your basics vid & see if I am missing something which i must be. Dude i love what you do! Thank you for your efforts & all the help!

You are welcome. Have fun! It's a little more involved but easily doable once you get your head around it :)

Thanks! Still around and trying to keep active ;)
Shapebuilder..... argh !!!! One day I'll look into it
You should! It’s nothing major… but helpful at times.
I am still trying to get the Celtic knots right but I did like the tip to put a shape behind and blur it made it stand out
I am glad it's helpful. Let me know if you need additional info on the Celtic knots. Good luck!
Amazing work Guru!
Thank you! Cheers! It looks more complicated than it is... and I hope I managed to explain it properly.
Bravissimo!
Thanks... I am glad you liked it!
