Because Super Smash Bros is already really popular with this generation, they could take literally any mascot who was 8 bit and have them in the movie. Things like Metroid, Kid Icarus, Legend Of Zelda and Mario could be featured, and they are more iconic so that would help. Also they have scenes like "Thanks you so much for playing my game," or "It's dangerous to go alone,".

Pixels doesnt get the credit it deserves. It was a CGI masterpiece, and its storyline was great. The characters had some real story behind them, and the "games mean war" thing was a great idea. And oh yeah, the credits song is the best thing ever.

The editing in the scene is brilliant. Even the sound of the barrels stays in sync with the song before and after it plays. So when the song hits, it emotionally escalates the scenes natural elements.
Even though I was only 5 at the time my mom brought me to see this movie on the opening night, the theater was packed at the time and when it got to this part everyone was cheering and singing along to "We will rock you" and that is a moment that will stick with me forever.
Honestly, this film was simply a “for the countless quarters generation” that played these nostalgic games. Maybe that’s why it was not a liked movie, because it wasn’t for anybody else. Myself, having parents that raised me on old stuff like this, movies, music, and even shows and games, I had a fraction of the joyous fun of recognizing various game characters and old theme music.
I’m definitely not from that generation yet I still enjoyed this movie and recognised a fair few of the games that showed up. My favourite is still Tetris destroying a building floor by floor
