I love this. I’ve spent so much time trying to make sense of the world around me and my place in it. I’ve been agnostic, pessimistic, self centered and selfish in my thought process for years. It’s far easier to just have faith. Like a suffocating heavy blanket being lifted from my heart. Faith sets the mind free, free to experience joy in each moment as it passes. Thank you for your content doc. ❤

Some might think that just having faith is a cop out. I suppose it’s easier to simply relinquish your critical faculties rather than take up the challenge to discover what existence means and your place in the cosmos. You don’t need Dr. Lisle to school you on this. His “science” is biased and distorted by an inflexible and crude precondition of having to believe the Bible as inerrant and the word of a supernatural entity that he cannot prove exists.

If you read my comment carefully, you’ll see that I have criticised the basic premise upon which he bases his arguments. Science does not assert any precondition relating to a religious belief in the pursuit of its endeavours. It poses its theories with the prospect of them necessarily being falsified. Lisle’s science is framed within the writings of the Bible and specifically the book of Genesis. His “scientific” approach is biased.

Your comment doesn’t make any sense. I think that, unfortunately, that you might be a candidate for the Dunning-Kruger effect. It is as as follows: “Dunning-Kruger Effect
The Dunning-Kruger effect is a type of cognitive bias in which people believe that they are smarter and more capable than they really are. Essentially, low ability people do not possess the skills needed to recognize their own incompetence. The combination of poor self-awareness and low cognitive ability leads them to overestimate their own capabilities.”

Respect to Jason for his dedication to the word of God. I myself have studied the bible and have come to the conclusion that the earth in creation is a stationary flat plane with the sun moon and stars rotating above the earth. My goal is to take the bible literally and to take everything written there as truth without putting any of my perceived conclusions that I have been taught in school. Blessed are the meek for they will inherit the earth.

I have been in airplanes and looked out the window. The earth is a sphere. I have seen it with my own eyes. So has Dr Lisle. He designed the Parker Space Probe and remote piloted the mission. Dr Lisle has seen with his own eye that the earth is a sphere and he would not lie to you. He has other videos where he shows you how you can prove it to yourself. Watch the sunset in California and stand up and watch it set again. Then climb up the steps and watch it set again. You can also put a camera on a kite and see the sun set much later than you see it at ground level. Get the kits high enough and you can and you will see the earth is a sphere.
A teen built a drone that took him up to the stratosphere where he passed out but the camera was still rolling and you can also see the earth is a sphere. This theory about the sun moving further away makes no sense as it disappears below the horizon and does not get smaller and smaller. You are misreading Gods word to think it laterally says the firmament is flat in any way. The Bible describes the earth as a sphere 4 different times.

Day is not the same as 24 hours, not in the past and not today.
The earth is not about 6,000 years old and the Bible does not teach this. Hebrews 4:9-10: "There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his." This tells us that the 7th day has not ended. Thus day 7 is a long time span, thus day 1 to 6 must be a long time span. Each believer are to enter into day 7. Also there no "evening and morning" for the 7th day. As day 7 as not ended. Biblical Hebrew has a limited vocabulary, with fewer words compared to other languages, such as English or Spanish. This means words often have multiple meanings determined by context. Day - yom is commonly rendered as day in English translations, but the word yom can be used in different ways to refer to different time spans thus literally is:
    Sunrise to sunset
    Sunset to next sunset
Time period of unspecified length. (long time span ).
We use the word day the same today: In my grandfather’s day cars did not go very fast.
Deuteronomy 33:15 and Habakkuk 3:6 "ancient mountains".
Gen. 2:4 “in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens”
The events of day 6 can not have happened in 24 hours.
Have you entered into the 7th as Hebrews 4:9-10 asks you to?
Creationism does not equal young Earth. There are many Old Earth creationists.

The section of this video on the development of mathematics is embarrassingly confused and simply wrong. The speaker attributes the origin of numbers to the mind of God. He, and all creationists are guilty of a major fallacy in their arguments. Namely positing God as an indisputable propositional given. Everything they say and write about their position on creationism (especially it’s spurious scientific basis) springs from that fallacy. Dr Lisle, did you not take a component course on the history and philosophy of science when undertaking your PhD? This video and the others you produce would seem to indicate a complete ignorance of the aforementioned field.

    • @mchandler4722

You said, "all creationists are guilty of a major fallacy in their arguments. Namely positing God as an indisputable propositional given."
You really want to go there?
Let's do a little (minor) substitution with your argument and then see how the shoe fits: "[A]ll atheist naturalists are guilty of a major fallacy in their arguments. Namely positing no God, only mindless, purposeless nature as an indisputable propositional given." And why would that be? Because as many have openly stated, the alternative is abhorrent to them. And I'll finish your thought correctly: "Everything they say and write about their position on naturalistic evolution springs from that fallacy."

Sorry bud, but unless you have somehow disproven God, or have an argument for some neutral ground upon which the theist adds God, you are just begging the question yourself. Do you not understand what a worldview is?

      @tonygarrett7214 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RedefineLiving
I’ll answer your comment in order of the points that you have raised. With regard to the assertion that “You (I) have somehow disproven God,” I do not intend to rehearse the extensive literature devoted to disproving the existence of a deity. Here are a few quite recent examples of that exercise, within the following texts: God’s GraveDiggers - Why No Deity Exists by Raymond D Bradley; Why There Is No God by Armin Navabi (This is an excellent text and very accessible to the confused layman on the subject. I commend it to you). Doubt - A History by Jennifer Michael Hecht. All of the aforementioned works form a contemporary refutation of the existence of God. There is, of course, a well established body of literature on the subject and I suggest you read some of it with an open mind. You might then be more tolerant of those with whom you disagree on the subject.
I am not begging the question at all, I made two connected points in my comment and you seem not to have realised this. Dr Lisle blithely asserts that the origin of numbers is attributable to God. This is patent nonsense as he embraces the questionable assumption that a god is responsible for the existence of numbers in mathematics. I challenged that as the assumption is based on what i believe to be his and others’ belief that the notion of God is an indisputable propositional given. It is not. I have not begged the question and it is Lisle who has done this with ease and confidence. Endeavours to graft science onto the Creationist quest has failed and Dr Lisle, although a talented astrophysicist, should really try to understand the immense contradiction in his work.

@@tonygarrett7214 It does not follow that because you are incredulous, and/or skeptic, that there is no God. It does not follow that because cite a conformation bias, arbitrarily appeal to those who share the same mental state, that therefore there is no God. I want to know objectively how there is no God. If there is a God, then all things derive from the mind of God. Because you argue that all things do not derive from the mind of God, you need to objectively disprove God in order for your point to be true. I’m waiting…
Now let’s look at the silly implications of your argument. The number two, and all numbers, are abstract. Abstracts exist in a mind. Your position would demand that if all humans on earth were removed, then, the number two would no longer exist. What a silly notion! On the other hand, it’s all humans were removed from the earth, the number two would still exist, if it derives from the mind of God. Now way position is more logical?

“Silly implications of your (my) argument.” How condescending. You really don’t get the point of my arguments. It was not an arbitrary appeal to others who share my viewpoint. I cited those authors as they have given careful and lengthy consideration of the position that I take on the matter. You need to read their work. The comments section of a TH-cam video does not lend itself to a lengthy exposition on the topic. You know that. Anyway, it is you and other believers who need to produce the extraordinary evidence to support the extraordinary claim for the existence of God (beyond citing the Bible). Your recent response is riddled with reference to a god; his mind; his implicit and actual status. Your example of the abstract status of the number two ends by citing the need for the existence of God from which it derives. That brings me back to my original point: that you and believers embrace - that God is introduced into your argument as an indisputable propositional given. You can prove me wrong on his/her existence if you can prove it. Have you ever heard of the Dunning-Kruger Effect? I think you might be subject to that classification in terms of this discussion.
