they used unreal engine for it, and it works really really well! the details that cinematic game engine is able to add in the beakers are insane. and the compositing team is also insanely talented for being able to blend the 3d models of beakers to everything else in the scenes.

The whole infinity castle sequence was not dramatic that was different types camera movement and angles to examine the depth of the field, the whole Akaza arrival sequence was in CG in background but it blend so well that no one complain about that Beast Titan
