FYI: 12:10 - we hiked it this week (September 2021) and it’s fixed now and has a rail again. So if anyone was anxious about this part, there’s no reason to be anymore. :) It’s a beautiful hike and definitely worth it! :)
Hey guys😊 thank you so much for this Video. I have seen many vlogs of this hike, but this is the best so far. There are so great pictures and you showed all the different places of this way. Just wonderful 🙏😍 Greetings from 🇦🇹
We hiked this trail end of November 2022 and all the rails are up. There were no parts that were crazy scary, in very good shape. We got a beautiful sunny day and saw everything 360 degrees from start to finish! Thank you Michael and Lauza for your wonderful videos - they helped us a lot to watch before we went on our wonderful two-week trip!
Exactly one week ago I walked it Pico do Areiro to Pico Ruivo. Very hard trail but I'm proud a managed it 😁 . Now I'm in Poland and Im throwback this views.
Great vid Lauza & Michael, so glad you got to do the Pico do Arieiro to Pico Ruivo hike before you leave for the Canaries, and awesome weather to boot!
I'm going there! I won't have time to do the whole way. Very thankful to see the 2.2km mark because thereabouts is where i'll have to turn around. Can you remember About how long did it take you to reach the first slippery point where you had to help your wife who wore sneakers because that seems like a good place to turn back. thanks!
Thank you for this amazing video Lauza and Michael! The views are truly breathtaking. While watching the video, it came to my mind that Michael seems to be happier and he smiles more than last year. Am I wrong? It seems to me that Madeira is good for the soul :)
@@LauzaAndMichael how's this Pico hike? is it hard? views are stunning... i'll bring some snorkel gear for porto Moniz... we'll be staying in Ponto do Sol...
Great video! How far before the parking does the road work start? I will have a rental car so we don't want to scratch it or something while going through the road work
Yes, we parked one car at Ruivo which allowed us to drive back to Aereia. But many people do the hike back. We met one guy at Pico Ruivo and when we arrived back at Aereia we met him again on the parking lot - he was hiking back and he said it wasn't that bad.
@@LauzaAndMichael thanks. By the way, my husband and I are also nomads. Retired and residents in Portugal moving every couple months to see different places. Keep up the videos. They are very enjoyable. 🤩

Stunning scenery and thank you for making us giggle Lauza, the sticks and slippery bit made us laugh but could see why you were nervous on that part. Thank you so much for sharing again that’s a great hike, best wishes to you both 🙂
hi thanks for the great video! question - it says on the official site pr1 is closed, so it is possible to go there ? we dont have a car though not sure if transfers are working either, i received no replies so far :/
It says it's closed due to that part at 11:39. That was a little landslide that damaged the path and is a bit sketchy, the rest of the hike is in good condition. I'm sure transfers are working, taxi or other transport service.
@@loveandtheft1245 it's possible but as that part is a bit dangerous the official site says it's closed or in other words you can go on your own responsibility.

Thanks for letting us know!
That's great news, because I don't know if I'd be able to go through that part without panicking.
I’m hiking this next week so thank you for the heads up 😂
Was it busy in September?
@@faaarrrh No, not really. We went there for the sunrise and then started hiking once enough daylight was there. :)

Thank you for sharing this! Lots of good wishes from Tenerife, Spain!
Thanks for watching!
stunning views! how long to hike... we're visiting next month... how's Porto Moniz, warm? :)
For us to swim was warm enough 😊specially in summer.

It wasn’t as difficult as we thought it would be. However it’s not an easy one, lot’s of stairs up and down. It’s about 3h in one direction.
Thank you for sharing ☺️ You two moved there already?
This is so so beautiful! I am currently in Tenerife, also working as a digital nomad.
Oh nice!
How is it there?
so lovely your blog 😊☺💕😍💖
Thank you Tuli!
Marvellous 🌲🌿👍
Many thanks! ❤️

At the time the roadwork was about 5.2km long and started at Pico das Pedras but it could change, looked like they work pretty fast
Obrigado amigos!

Espetacular 👏👏

Thank you so much Giuseppe!
