- My mate Martin (aka the Pirate - he only has one leg) and I head South to try out the proposed Isle of Wight TT circuit, I try out the brand new DJI Mini 3 Pro drone, forget I have a Litleok Core, and get totally bamboozled by 'tacking'.

As a resident of rural south Warwickshire it's a bit of a trek for a day out but that never stops me..! My favourite solo blast is Lymington Quay for a coffee and cake, followed by the ferry over to Yarmouth for a blast around the island. If it's a nice hot Tuesday in July/August I'll get to Poole Quay for what must be one of the best bike meets in the UK. Throw in The New Forest and it makes for a fabulous day out...

The Isle of Wight is awesome on a bike, camped there with my Beta back in 2019 on a cliff on the coast just at the end of the long straight on the TT course... lovely few days that was. Some lovely places to visit over there too.
As always the banter was brill, ta for bringing us along... Pirate's leg sounds pretty damn awesome with the variable damping etc.
Only met Yox a few times….back in the day we both had nice ZRXs….rode with him to Brighton once in about 2007…good rider as well 🎉😊

Just to let you know buddy, 2020 August bank holiday there was 5000 scooters on the island for the IOW scooter rally, it's on every year mate and it copes very well to the volume !!!!!!

That’s was excellent. I was born on the island. I last was there over 10 years ago and nothing looks as if it has changed. The place you stopped for cake in Ventnor is next to my uncles old house. I will have to pay the island a visit this year.
As a regular visitor to the IOW to see my parents, it was great to see you on some very familiar roads, the left you took by the Church in Brighstone is the village they live in.
So if the TT ever went ahead I've got some where to stay ;-)

Excellent watch chaps! I stay at the boat house on the beach to the right of Fort Victoria it is awesome! The portaloo you used in Freshwater bay is on the site of some new public conveniences! 🤣 We were booked in 21 for the Diamond races which never happened, gutted!

I know what you mean about the rear indicators on the newer GSs. Either they're not bright enough, or the back lights are too bright🤷♂️other than that, a crackin ride out.👍

Not a destination that ever called out “England’s must do ride” to me but the roads are quiet at least, even if everywhere seems to be shut out of silly season. Random splosh oppos too….. 🤔. Still, it seemed a wee bit dryer than your TT meet up😂.
Martin’s a legend Bruce. That man lets nothing stop him doing more than most of us have done. Like the can do attitude.
Agree re newer gs indicators. Some Bavarian actually sat down with his sketch pad and came up with a ludicrous design there. That’s one more “bmw tax” to budget for as it’s screaming out for after market blinkers. I’ve already spent twice what I’ve admitted to my wife on making my RS actually fit a human bean and not some deformed gorilla🦧. We should buy shares win wunderlich, Touratec, Denali and Nippy’s 😂😂😂

Interesting to see how you get on with the new drone. We have the DJI mini 2 but I like that your controller has an inbuilt screen so you don't have the faff with a phone. Can yours do the follow me thing? It's probably not fast enough to stay with you two 🤣🤣
Interesting fact (relative term) - if you look at the Isle of Wight from France, sorry, I mean Bournemouth, then you can see the IoW Polar Bear. Have a look next time you’re in Bournemouth (I noticed from Calimoto you’ve been down the A338) on a sunny day, go to the beach and have a look. Or I suppose you could just a Google it.

reminds me of the the isle of wight trip i did a few years ago, was the chair lifts open at the needles that send you over the edge down to the beach thats cool unless you dont like heights.
I have the original Mavic Mini and it always surprises me how stable it is in the wind.

Great video and content, when the (Diamond racing as it was going to be called) was first announced a few of us went down to the island to check it out. We did ride the circuit and judging by the speed you rode we are still the proud owners of the slowest lap record.
We booked our accommodation and ferries for the following year to watch the racing as we thought when it becomes more known it would get booked up and the usual price hike. Sadly it was cancelled a few months before but as we had already booked we just decided to go and have a tour for a week.
The same thing happened the following year when the racing was cancelled again, I think it was health and safety issues.
So we still go every year and don't bother to look into the racing we just go and have a good holiday down there.

lived and worked on Isle of Wight for the first year of lockdown, well worth a long weekend out of season, and not when the festival is on, Also Red funnel are cheaper for Bikes, but it takes an hour from Southampton. best chippy is in Lake. but a fantastic place for a GS, There are few green lanes as well

A really nice place. Funny side note, a good friend of mine lives right around the corner in Bognor Regis. He told me once that the Isle of Wight and also the mainland in that area is called Gods waiting room. 😁

Why is the big wrap better than a sturdy u-lock? Seems like it's just massive but not massive enough to be super useful. So go compact. They make some u-locks that are Diamond rated for unbreakable. The Bennetts guys did a video on one not too long ago and it seems like it'd do the same thing but be way easier to just mount somewhere. Heck, you could make a bracket for it on your top case or something or rok strap it.

Love the isle of Wight go every August if you go again you should definitely go to God's hill model village ,shanklin do the best fish and chips /ice cream you need to go back with lamb chops

34:33 I sort of get it but not really. Think of it as an aeroplane wing... The faster air passing over the front of the sail is lower pressure than the air behind, I.e. pushing the boat forward (as opposed to lifting a plane). It's how wind turbines work too... I'll get my coat.... Great vid Bruce.

Lived there for 10 years, island roads are 'different' is certainly true 😂 once you've been robbed by the ferry company it's a lovely place. The White Mouse Inn is a good stop as is the Folly Inn at Whippingham.
Q's Brucey: 1 = what is the red button you press under the left mirror stalk? 2 = can you explain (even in a separate short) what the purpose of the "3 2 1 Sync" visor closing is all about?
Hello bud, the wee button under the left handle on the bars is for my ‘Jekil and Hyde’ exhuast - it cycles between the 3 different modes to alter the engine note. Quiet is useful for passing horses, going through villages, early mornings etc, loud is great for when you’re feeling ‘lively’ and want a deep growling exhaust note, and the 50/50 is a nice inbetween.
3-2-1 sync just lets me sync the helmet cam with the cockpit cam (the one looking back at me) 👍
Hi Bruce i to used a cable lock to secure soft panniers to my bike and if a fellow biker didn’t point out to at the petrol station “ hey mate what’s wrong with your rear tyre “ it could of been very bad,the plastic coating had worn away and the metal cable had put a grove into the tyre and after now 10000 kilometres it’s still slightly noticeable didn’t effect the handling of the bike but at the time it was a deep grove. Those roads on the isle of white don’t look wide enough but you where properly on the wrong road, who knows will probably never happen.
Bruce I’ve always thought of u as a very intelligent man - the lock comes with Velcro fasteners / so fold it up into a small loop and wrap the Velcro straps around it . Then stick it in the top box - you can store other stuff into the centre of the ring - simples !! “🥃”… sorry for sounding arrogant but it’s - well - obvious !! 😜😂

Great vid, I've been talking about a trip to the Island for ages with some mates. Military Road is a great run, but keep a lid on it as it arracts wannabe racers, that attracts enforcement... A bit poor I haven't been there in years seeing as I live all of 15 miles from Portsmouth!

Aye that should be no bother in a day bud, it’s a fairly decent run from Kyle of Lochalsh to Aviemore, and you can do a lap of Skye in a few hours 👍

Bruce - that’s really funny - I was just writing to you telling you about “sailing to close to the wing “ was going to give u chapter and verse re - how y aughts are sucked along and not blown along - when u said - don’t tell me in the comments - I’m not really interested- so no full explanation - suffice to say - ask TMF how a plane gets and stays airborne - it’s pretty similar with Yots - as mechanical engineering graduate - you’ll love the explanation. BTW - how many prosthetics graduates do I have as subs - didn’t even get a mention “🥃”..

As im following your lead again and have booked a holiday on the IOW, I wondered about the ferry trip. Last time I went the motorbikes werent secured.....and the bikers had to go inboard (to buy stuff). Was that the same for you?🏍️💨👍
Yes, bikes not tied down unless it's rough but the sailing is generally always smooth.
You have to go off the car deck but you don't have to buy anything.

I'll answer for Bruce as he's currently on a Chicken Strips Tour to Belgium.
He has at least 2 cameras and his microphone (in his helmet). When it comes time to edit the vid he lines up all the feeds to the point where the visor "spikes" in the sound so it all synchronises when you watch it.

Pound per mile it's expensive. Price depends on time and day you go as well.
I could do this this year crossing at Lymington, what u saw from the fort. Is the crossing still the most expensive crossing n the world?
£ per mile travelled I wouldn't be surprised if it is!
@@HalfManHalfPirate The ferry companies issue discount tickets for day returns ..... a car and up to 7 people for £42.50, no discount code for bikes however so it`s actually a couple of quid dearer ..... go figure 🤣
